The A1(M) in West Yorkshire has been closed southbound with police on the scene carrying out investigation work. Motorists have been told to expect massive delays of up to 40 minutes. Four miles of traffic has built up with national Highways asking drivers to allow extra time for their journeys. The A1(M), between junction 45 and junction 44, is expected to remain closed all afternoon and into the evening. Road users have been advised to follow the Hollow Triangle Diversion symbol on road signs. National Highways said: "The A1M in West Yorkshire is closed southbound between J45 near Wetherby and J44 near Tadcaster following a serious collision. "West Yorkshire Police are carrying out investigation work and the road is expected to remain closed through the afternoon and into the evening. "If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. "Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey."
