Police rescue two dogs abandoned by side of road near Colorado elementary school
Police in one Colorado community are searching for answers after two neglected dogs were abandoned on the side of the road this week. According to the Parker Police Department, a man abandoned them near the parking lot of Pioneer Elementary off of Riva Ridge around 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Authorities said neither the female adult dog nor the six-month-old puppy is microchipped, and both showed signs of neglect. They said both dogs are currently being cared for at a shelter. Police are looking for the owner, who they said is a middle-aged white man driving a white pickup truck with a topper. The police department hopes someone might have information, dash camera footage or doorbell footage that may help them identify the owner. They asked anyone with information on the case to contact Parker Police Community Services Officer Jacob Gingold at jgingold@ or 303-805-6851.

Confused female Labrador and adorable puppy are found dumped on street by driver
A pair of neglected Labradors were found dumped on the side of the road near a school in Colorado. Police in Parker, outside Denver, described the dogs as an adult female and a six-month-old puppy. The adorable dogs were discovered abandoned near the parking lot of Pioneer Elementary School on Wednesday morning. Neither of the dogs are microchipped and they both showed signs of neglect, according to police. 'All we have at this time is that a white pick-up [truck] with a topper dropped these two dogs off and then drove away,' the Parker Police Department said. 'The driver was described as a white male, middle-aged, of average build.' The dogs are currently at a shelter. Police asked for help in locating the driver. Those who saw the police statement were appalled by the news. 'This is horrific. So glad they're safe,' one commenter wrote. 'Oh this is heartbreaking! Whoever adopts these sweet angels, please keep them together. They need each other!' another said. Back in December, a woman was seen tossing a dog trapped in a carrier bag at a Colorado animal shelter. Security footage showed the bag toppling over as it hit the ground. In Colorado, abandoning a dog is considered animal cruelty, a criminal offense with potential penalties including jail time and fines. 'Any person who intentionally abandons a dog or cat commits the offense of cruelty to animals,' according to Colorado Voters for Animals.
