Wayne Gretzky Names Greatest Basketball Player of All Time
Social media can tend to be a disaster when it comes to debating almost anything, right down to something relatively innocent, like "hot dogs vs. hamburgers." That notion is particularly true any time the topic of "GOAT" (Greatest of All Time) comes up. Advertisement Whether it's in regard to the greatest rapper of all time—the Tupac/Biggie debate will likely never end—or the greatest athlete of all time, it's kind of become a continuous carousel of noise where no one really ever changes their mind. One of the most common debates that can be found on a daily, nearly hourly basis is whether or not LeBron James has surpassed Michael Jordan as the NBA's quintessential "GOAT." Michael Jordan and LeBron James shake hands during the 2022 NBA All-Star Game as part of NBA All Star Weekend on February 20, 2022. Jesse D. Garrabrant/Getty Images For topics that typically end up getting as heated as the LeBron vs. MJ "conversation," sometimes it might make the most sense to lean on the big guns for a definitive declaration. And who better than hockey royalty like Wayne Gretzky—quite literally known as "The Great One"—to put a very clear stamp on said debate? Advertisement So, during a recent appearance on the New Heights podcast with Jason and Travis Kelce, Gretzky was asked for his opinion on that very topic. "Well the NBA's pretty easy," Gretzky casually stated. "Twenty-three, that one's pretty easy, right." While James and Jordan both stake claim to No. 23, Travis quickly confirmed by saying, "Mike, yeah," seemingly to prevent any kind of confusion before moving on. Now, while this is just Gretzky's opinion, the beauty of the great No. 99 throwing his opinion into the often tense NBA "GOAT" conversation is that it's offered up a brand new layer to the social media chatter, as basketball fans can now begin debating as to whether or not Wayne Gretzky is right or wrong. Advertisement The four-time Stanley Cup champion went on to discuss the greatest to ever do it in each of the other major sports—MLB, NFL and NHL—and did not name himself when it came to the hockey "GOAT" even though there are many sports fans out there who deem him as such. Vardy signs off in style with 200th Leicester goal
Vardy was making his 500th and final appearance for Leicester after a remarkable spell including a stunning Premier League title triumph in 2016 -- the Foxes were rank 5,000/1 outsiders before that campaign started -- and FA Cup glory in 2021. The fact the 38-year-old began his career in non-league football, having been released by hometown club Sheffield Wednesday before going on to win 26 England caps, just added to his cult appeal with Leicester fans. Sunday's match also came exactly 13 years to the day since Vardy joined Leicester from Fleetwood for a non-league record fee of £1 million (£1.3 million). "I've enjoyed every minute of this," Vardy, speaking on the pitch after full-time told the Leicester faithful. "I look forward to keeping an eye on the club I love. They are in my heart. "From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking myself and my family in as your own. I hope I've repaid you." With Leicester demoted from the Premier League long before Sunday's match against fellow relegated side Ipswich, Vardy had already announced he was leaving the Midlands club at the end of the season. It was then agreed Vardy, the club's record goalscorer, would not play in next weekend's final game of the campaign, away to Bournemouth, to ensure his last Leicester appearance came at the King Power Stadium. And he gave fans one more moment to savour when he opened the scoring in the 28th minute before being given a guard of honour by his team-mates when substituted with 10 minutes to go as he walked off the pitch as a Leicester player for the last time. He had led Leicester out onto the pitch before kick-off, with fans waving flags in the stands with "Thank you Vards" printed on, while two banners were hung up behind each goal end as the scoreboard read "Goodbye GOAT (Greatest of All Time)". The 2019/20 Premier League Golden Boot winner had already missed the target with two chances but it was third time lucky just before the half-hour when he finished expertly for his ninth league goal of the season following a through ball from James Justin. Kasey McAteer ensured Vardy would be on the winning side in his final Leicester appearance by making it 2-0 -- the midfielder's first Premier League goal -- in the 69th minute. "I'm happy I could play my way into the game and get on the scoresheet as well as Vardy," McAteer told Premier League Productions. "It's classic Vardy, it's spoken about how he always delivers and that's what he's done for 13 years at this club... To play with him and call him my team-mate is an honour. I was buzzing he got his 200th goal."

Barking at women, blocking doors: Teachers reveal Andrew Tate's chilling influence on boys
Teachers are raising concerns about the detrimental influence of social media personalities, such as Andrew Tate, on student behaviour, citing a rise in misogyny and sexism within schools. A recent survey conducted by the NASUWT teaching union revealed that nearly three in five teachers (59 per cent) believe social media contributes to the declining behavior of students. The poll surveyed over 5,800 NASUWT members across the UK in January. Its findings were released during the NASUWT's annual conference held in Liverpool over the Easter weekend. A key motion to be debated at the conference focusses on the increasing use of social media, messaging apps, and online gaming platforms by far-right and populist movements for recruitment purposes. The motion urges the union's executive to collaborate with teachers in assessing the potential risks these movements pose to young people. It adds that the union should work with the Government 'to support teachers in challenging far-right and populist narratives' presented to young people. A number of teachers who responded to the NASUWT's survey on behaviour referenced the negative influence that Mr Tate has had on male pupils. One teacher said: 'I have had boys refuse to speak to me and speak to a male teaching assistant instead because I am a woman and they follow Andrew Tate and think he is amazing with all his cars and women and how women should be treated. These were 10-year-olds.' Another said: 'In an all-boys school, low socio-economic area, the 'Andrew Tate' phenomena had a huge impact on how they interacted with females and males they did not see as 'masculine'.' One teacher said: 'We had some incidents in school with derogatory language towards female staff (e.g. boys barking at female staff and blocking doorways so they couldn't leave the classroom), as a direct result of Andrew Tate videos.' Another said: 'In a secondary English class last year, a group of boys opted, despite discouragement, to write a persuasive essay on why Andrew Tate is the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) which included praise of his view that women are a man's property (…) all of the parents were contacted and were appalled.' Television drama Adolescence, which examines so-called incel (involuntary celibate) culture, has prompted a national conversation about sexism and online safety. In March, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said there was no 'simple solution' to stop boys from being dragged into a 'whirlpool' of misogyny as he hosted creators of the Netflix drama at Downing Street. Patrick Roach, general secretary of the NASUWT, said: 'Misogyny, racism and other forms of prejudice and hatred may have attracted greater media attention of late, but it is clear from our data that these behaviours are not a recent phenomenon. 'There is an urgent need for concerted action involving schools, colleges and other agencies to safeguard all children and young people from the dangerous influence of far-right populists and extremists and to ensure that our schools and colleges are safe places for learners and for staff.' Mr Roach said teachers could not be 'left alone' to deal with these problems. 'We need a multi-agency response to improve social media literacy, critical thinking skills, and to expose disinformation and false narratives. 'We are urging the Government to lead a national effort to tackle the root causes of poverty and deprivation and keep children safe online.' A Department for Education (DfE) spokesperson said: 'We know the rise of dangerous influencers is having a damaging impact on our children, which is why are supporting the sector in their crucial role building young people's resilience to extremism as part of our Plan for Change. 'Education can be the antidote to hate, and the classroom should be a safe environment for sensitive topics to be discussed and where critical thinking is encouraged. our curriculum review will look at the skills children need to thrive in a fast-changing online world. 'This is on top of wider protections being brought in for children with the Online Safety Act, to ensure children have an age-appropriate experience online.'

The audience in Kolkata was treated to a memorable evening of entertainment, thanks to SRK's amazing hosting skills, which added a special touch to the ceremony. The highlight of the event was when Shah Rukh Khan, in his signature style, called former RCB captain Virat Kohli the "GOAT" (Greatest of All Time) and even joined him on stage for a dance on his blockbuster song 'Jhoome Jo Pathaan'. The crowd at Eden Gardens erupted with loud "Kohli Kohli" chants, which SRK joined in on, further elevating the excitement. "Virat bhai is the only player who has been associated with just one team in the entirety of the IPL. He is the OG. The GOAT of IPL," SRK said before inviting Kohli on stage. The audience went wild as 'King Kohli' and 'King Khan' danced together, with fans immediately sharing videos of the performance on social media. Before Kohli's appearance, SRK had already set the stage on fire with KKR's Rinku Singh, who joined him for a fun dance on SRK's popular track 'Lutt Putt Gaya' from his film 'Dunki'. Rinku's moves had Kohli in splits, making for a funny yet unforgettable moment. SRK's charisma was unmatched as he spoke to the crowd, saying, "Party Pathan ke ghar pe rakhoge toh mehman nawazi ke liye Pathan khud aayega aur patake bhi layega," sending the crowd into a frenzy("If you host a party at Pathan's house, Pathan himself will come to greet you and will bring fireworks as well!") After the star-studded ceremony, the players of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) entered the stadium to kick off the opening match of the IPL tournament.
