Karnataka to form task force and road map for quantum tech development

Minister for Science and Technology N.S. Boseraju has announced that a dedicated Quantum Task Force will be constituted and a strategic roadmap prepared for the comprehensive development of the quantum technology ecosystem to make Karnataka a $20 billion quantum advantage-driven economy by 2035. He made this announcement while addressing a high-level meeting in Bengaluru ahead of India's first 'Quantum India Conclave' to be held on July 31 and August 1 in Bengaluru. According to an official release, the meeting in which key representatives from leading quantum technology companies participated, observed that Karnataka was well-positioned to emerge as a major stakeholder in India's quantum ecosystem. Responding to them, Industries Minister M.B. Patil said, 'Our objective is to ensure that Karnataka becomes a leader in quantum technology. The State government is fully prepared to offer land, infrastructure, and all types of support needed for industries to thrive.' Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Boseraju said the Government of Karnataka was ready to offer all necessary support to make the State a leader in the quantum sector. 'We will prepare a road map. We will consult Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on forming a dedicated task force to guide this roadmap. Our government is committed to framing the necessary policies to support this mission. Our goal is to make Karnataka a $20 billion quantum advantage-driven economy by 2035. As part of this vision, India's first 'Quantum India Conclave' will be organised on July 31 and August 1 by the Department of Science and Technology.' IT&BT Minister Priyank Kharge said, 'Skill development in human resources is crucial for Karnataka to lead the quantum revolution. We are committed to enabling a robust ecosystem of innovation and deep-tech collaboration. Through a phased approach under the proposed Quantum Mission, we aim to become a bridge between industry, academic institutions, and innovation networks. Karnataka must be at the forefront on the global quantum map.'

She was addressing the audience at an event jointly organized by Parivarthanam Trust and Maya Foundation at Viveka Sabhangana. The event marked Mother's Day, the organizations' annual celebration, and a felicitation ceremony honoring achievers from various fields. 'A mother's role is the most precious in the world. Among all living beings, it is the mother who beats tirelessly for her young. She sacrifices everything for her child's care and nurtures the little one with utmost dedication and protection. Beyond caregiving, a mother plays a significant role in raising her child to be a responsible citizen with strong character. We must always remain indebted to Bharat Mata (Mother India), who continues to nourish and sustain us all,' Dr. Mamatha added. Dr. Bananduru Kempaiah, former President of the Karnataka Janapada Academy, also spoke at the event. 'Our soldiers are bravely defending the borders, and on this Mother's Day, we extend the collective blessings of all mothers to them. Their sacrifices and sense of duty allow us to live in peace. Every individual must develop a sense of commitment toward our nation,' he said. As part of the celebration, several individuals were honored for their achievements in various fields, including expectant mothers, journalists, and athletes. The event was graced by Ramya MK, Founder of Maya Foundation; Vinod Chennakrishna, Founder of Parivarthanam Trust; and MLC Sharavana, among others.

A man from Shivamogga, Karnataka, was killed in a terror attack while he was vacationing with his family in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on Tuesday. The victim, Manjunath, had travelled to the valley with his wife Pallavi and their young recounted the chilling moments of the attack. 'Three of us – me, my husband and our son – had gone to Kashmir. It happened around 1.30 pm, I think. We were at Pahalgam. He died on the spot, in front of my eyes,' she said, adding, 'It still feels like a bad dream.'advertisementPallavi added that local civilians stepped in to help her immediately after the attack. 'Three local people rescued me,' she said. According to her, the attackers seemed to be targeting Hindus. 'Three to four people attacked us. I told them – kill me too, you've already killed my husband. One of them said, 'I won't kill you. Go tell this to Modi'.'She appealed to the authorities to ensure that her husband's body is brought back to Shivamogga at the earliest. 'The body can't be brought down easily. It needs to be airlifted. We want it brought back immediately,' she Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, in a post on X, condemned the attack. 'Kannadigas are among the victims of this shocking incident. Upon receiving the news, I convened an emergency meeting and reviewed the situation with the Chief Secretary and senior police officials. I have also spoken to the Resident Commissioner in Delhi,' he wrote.'We are closely monitoring the developments. All necessary support will be extended.
