Our Favorite Summer Pajamas for Kids

Petite Plume We love Petite Plume's Kid's Twill Pajama Set and Kid's Flannel Nightgown for their soft feel and timeless look. Petite Plume makes a shortie version of the twill pajama set and several charming sleeveless twill nightgowns. The Kid's Twill Short Set is made with tightly woven cotton-modacrylic fabric that has a crisp, airy feel, reminiscent of clean cotton sheets drying on a line. It's offered in several patterns and striped colors, and it's finished with contrast piping and a sweet little pocket on the short-sleeved button top, just like the long-sleeved version. The shorts fit like boxers, and the top is pleasantly roomy. The shorts shrank a little in the wash, but we didn't miss the lost length. We found them to be true to size. Our testers are ready for bed in the Petite Plume Kid's Twill Short Set and Girl's Twill Amelie Nightgown. Laura Motley for NYT Wirecutter We also like the Twill Amelie Nightgown, which is just as nostalgic as its winter cousin, the flannel nightgown. It features the same smooth twill fabric as the shorts set, has sweet details like ruffle trim on the shoulders, and comes in several summery prints, such as sailboats, bumblebees, and stripes. Three buttons on the back placket require some assistance from a parent or caregiver — if your child prizes independence, they may be better off with the Girl's Twill Clara Nightgown. The least expensive children's nightgown in Petite Plume's top-dollar heirloom collection, this ruffly, white nightgown has cleverly hidden elastic in its top seam that allows kids to dress themselves with ease. These pajamas are pricey, but all signs point to them earning hand-me-down status. Petite Plume's pajama sizing starts at 6/12 months, whereas most of our recommendations start at 2 years. I Tried the Buttery-Soft Pajamas Kris Jenner Gifted Her Entire Family — And I've Never Slept Better

You can always count on Kris Jenner to do two things: promote the multi-faceted careers of her kids, and look fashionable doing it. So when Jenner gifted the entire Kardashian-Jenner clan the same matching pajama set last year, I was intrigued. If they were good enough for her family, they must be special. Turns out they're the Cozy Earth bamboo stretch knit pajamas. After giving them a try myself, they've become the most worn PJs in my dresser. The bamboo stretch pajamas come in a few style options — long sleeve/long pants, short sleeve/long pants, short sleeve/shorts — and several colors and seasonal prints (like 'french lavender' or 'sienna tulips' for spring). I opted for the short sleeve and long pant option as I figured I'd get the most wear out of it year-round, though Kris and the fam went for long sleeves and pants, as seen on Kim's Instagram. SEE IT! 18 French-Inspired Lounge Sets to Look European-Level Rich — Starting at $19 While Kris' adorable bunny print is no longer available, there are loads of color choices, like classic navy to crisp white and cool lilac. Fair warning, with so many options it will be tempting to buy multiple pairs! No matter which color or style you choose, every set has chic contrast piping, a button-up style shirt with a chest pocket and drawstring bottoms with side pockets. The variety of colors are eye-catching, but it's the fabric that keeps me reaching for these night after night. Made from a buttery soft bamboo viscose and spandex blend, wearing these PJs to bed is nothing short of sublime. They're stretchy, breathable and keep me comfortable and cool — no night sweats here! The shirt and pants drape elegantly and are lightweight; nothing bunches up overnight, which I can't say of other similar styles I own. SEE IT! These Cozy Earth PJs boast a relaxed, somewhat true to size fit, but if you prefer an oversized look, I recommend sizing up. Since I've started wearing these, I've never slept more comfortably. I can easily see why Kris chose to give a set to everyone in her family. While the price tag may not be a factor for the famous momager, these PJs are admittedly an investment. They range in price from $175 to $195 depending on the style. Lucky for Us, however, you can snag the luxe pajamas for 25% off now through May 11. As a mom of two myself, I whole-heartedly co-sign this set as a great pick to surprise a mother figure this year. Because if I can't be gifted actual hours of sleep, the next best thing is something that makes the shuteye I do get a little more indulgent. SEE IT! Get the for (was $195) at Cozy Earth! Eberjey Vs. Cozy Earth: Which Pajamas Are ‘Cooler'? We Tested Both

Summer often means switching to lighter and cooler pajamas. If your body temperature runs hot at night, you want the most breathable sleepwear out there. After testing multiple sets of pajamas for years here at Forbes Vetted, our team has consistently given Eberjey and Cozy Earth top marks for their airy fabrics and ultra comfortable designs. To find out which brand is truly best for hot weather, though, I did a side-by-side comparison. Here's my detailed review to help you sleep a bit cooler right now. My body temperature fluctuates a lot at night: I'm both hot and cold at various times. For me, pajamas that I can layer provide the right balance. For that reason, I tried Cozy Earth's midweight t-shirt and bamboo shorts paired with the brand's French terry pullover, the idea being that I can mix and match these separates for sleeping and also wearing around the house at night and in the early chilly mornings. The t-shirt is made from 100% cotton fabric, which has a soft, brushed feel. I'd consider this a classic t-shirt you can wear day or night, and it's great if you're not prone to night sweats. I tended to get a little overheated during the hottest part of the night, so it wasn't my favorite for sleeping, but it was very comfortable for lounging. To stay cooler, I ditched the t-shirt. Instead, I just wore the StudioLite Crewneck on its own: It's made from French terry and has deep side vents to encourage natural airflow and breathability. I loved the cool-to-the-touch fabric, but the side vents made the fit too loose, which meant this top rode up and didn't stay put during the night. Again, it was super comfortable for hanging out in the morning and before bed—just not for actual sleeping. The Brushed Bamboo Shorts were a total home run. They're made from bamboo viscose, which Cozy Earth says is responsibly sourced and temperature regulating, and wicks moisture while you sleep. The shorts have pockets—a must for convenience—and the brushed texture is super smooth and midweight. I slept coolly and comfortably all night in these and could easily wear them for workouts and travel, too. I enlisted the help of my teenage daughter to try Eberjey's Gisele Tencel Modal Relaxed Short PJ Set. Her body temperature is completely different than mine: She runs hot all night and often needs the air conditioning pumping at full blast, even in the dead of winter. Steamy, humid weather is unbearable. She's also a teenager and, naturally, picky about fashion, including her sleepwear. In our guide to the best pajamas for women, Eberjey's Gisele came out on top as the best cooling option—and it continues to prove why. This set is made from Tencel modal, which doesn't trap heat the way synthetic fabrics can and, instead, encourages airflow. Modal also pulls moisture away from the skin better than cotton and has a smooth, silky-cool texture. The design drapes well and doesn't cling to your body either, another plus for hot sleepers out there. In terms of style, the Gisele definitely stands out for its chic piping, button front and notched collar. This set gives a luxury-lingerie vibe. The fabric is intentionally thin, though, which means the lighter colors can be a bit transparent. Another drawback: no pockets on the shorts. This would drive me crazy, since I like to rest my hands in my pockets while lounging, but it didn't bother my daughter. Most importantly, she slept comfortably and did not wake up drenched in a pool of sweat. That's a win. After comparing both types of pajamas for those with different body-temperature needs, Eberjey's emerged as the best cooling set overall. If your temperature fluctuates during the night, Cozy Earth's separates are the best option for layering. The price is relatively similar between the two brands, though Cozy Earth tends to offer more sales and discounts from what I've observed. Both pajamas are stylish, but Eberjey's set has elevated details like piping and pearly white buttons, whereas Cozy Earth's is, as the name implies, cozy and laid-back. If you want pajamas that function more like all-day loungewear, Cozy Earth is the way to go.
