1 dead, 1 seriously injured after bus crash outside Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal

Emergency crews respond to a pedestrian crash involving a TransLink bus near the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal on May 28, 2025. (Credit: Stephen Smith) A TransLink bus crashed into pedestrians outside the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal Wednesday, leaving one person dead and another seriously injured. The incident unfolded around 3:30 p.m. at Keith Road and Bay Road, right beside the busy terminal. It's unclear what caused the collision. There are unconfirmed reports the bus driver may have suffered a medical emergency behind the wheel. In a statement, the West Vancouver Police Department asked the public to 'stay away from the area' as first responders 'care for those impacted and begin the investigation into this tragic event.' Several ambulances and a helicopter could be seen in the community following the crash. TransLink has not provided any further details, other than to confirm a bus was involved, but warned passengers to expect delays on route 257, the Vancouver-Horseshoe Bay express bus. The collision happened before the scheduled start of an event called Taste of the Bay, billed as a showcase for local restaurants and businesses. In a social media post, the Horseshoe Bay Business Association said the event was cancelled pending further notice, citing an 'extremely unfortunate' and 'unforeseen' incident.
