Chippa United release 18 players
Chippa United have cleared the decks by releasing 15 players before the new season and three others will return to their clubs after their loan agreements ended. The Gqeberha club confirmed the clearance in a statement posted on their social media platforms on Tuesday. The statement said: 'Chippa United Football Club can confirm the departure of several players as their contracts with the club come to an end after the 2024/25 season,' it said. 'The following players will not be part of the team heading into the new campaign: Darren Johnson, Lukhanyo July, Justice Chabalala, Samkelo Jali, Andile Jali, Baraka Majogoro, Athenkosi Dlala, Ronald Sanou, Craig Martin, Ronald Maarman, Thobani Jacobs, Sifiso Mazibuko, Aviwe Mqokozo, Enock Sakala, Bienvenu Eva Nga.' The club also said that on-loan players Aphelele Teto, Siphelo Baloni and Sonwabile Khumalo would return to their parent clubs after the conclusion of their loan agreements. According to Transfermarkt, Chippa had 35 senior players for the 2024/2025 season, which leaves 17 players on their books. Last week, the Chilli Boys named Sinethemba Badela, 35, as their new head coach. The former Cape Town All Stars mentor replaces Thabo September, who opted not to renew his contract after he was demoted to assistant coach. Chippa also announced the appointment of Sinesipho Mali as the new sporting director, a position held by Morgan Mammila last season. Mali served in key technical roles at Kaizer Chiefs as an analyst and later at Sekhukhune United, where he operated as both analyst and head of recruitment, helping guide the club to its highest-ever points tally in the 2024/2025 Betway Premiership. He now serves as head of analysts for Bafana Bafana, a role he will continue in as the national team prepare for the Africa Cup of Nations and conclude their Fifa World Cup qualifying campaign. He also featured in Banyana Banyana's technical team at the 2023 Fifa Women's World Cup. The Herald

Gary Neville names the four players Man United MUST sell this summer - and reveals the star his former club cannot afford to lose
Gary Neville has named the four players Manchester United must sell this summer in order for his former club to move forward under Ruben Amorim. The Red Devils have moved quickly to revamp their attack in the weeks following their crushing Europa League final defeat by Tottenham, which consigned them a season without European football and its associated riches. United announced the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5million this week, while Brentford 's Bryan Mbeumo has outlined his desire to join the project at Old Trafford. But, given the financial issues before the club and the failure to claim the estimated £100m windfall from Champions League participation, the club need to recoup considerable sums from player sales. Neville believes that among the host of potential stars on the chopping block, Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho must all leave in this window. The first three stars have all been out on loan for at least the past six months and have enjoyed spells that is sure to attract from clubs. Meanwhile, Garnacho clashed with Amorim after the defeat by Spurs and is set to leave in short order. Despite being an academy product, Neville conceded that when a player publicly clashes with his boss, 'the manager has to win'. But that is not the case for another United starlet, who the 50-year-old reckons the Red Devils should build their team around. 'Marcus Rashford has to leave for him and the club,' he said on the It's Called Soccer podcast. 'I would worry that Aston Villa haven't announced that they're keeping him already because I think that could have been an easy deal to do with United if they were going to keep him, so it sounds to me like Villa aren't going to keep him. 'I would say for Marcus' sake and for United's sake that it feels like that path has come to an end.' Barcelona are reportedly among the clubs interested in the 27-year-old England international. The 2024-25 LaLiga champions have made their interest in Rashford no secret, with the club's sporting director Deco revealing he 'likes' the England international earlier this month. However, a major stumbling block remains in the form of the asking price, with United looking to get £40m for one of their most successful academy graduates in recent years. Mail Sport understands Rashford is expected to leave United this summer after his fall out with Amorim and has been keen on joining Barca for some time. Elsewhere, Jadon Sancho helped Chelsea clinch a top-four spot and scored in the final of the Conference League as the Blues beat Real Betis 4-1. Neville continued: 'I feel a little bit similarly with him as I do with Marcus. I'd be a bit concerned that Chelsea haven't made the noises that they're going to keep him. 'Again, Manchester United have to make sure they part ways with him and, from Jadon's point of view, he has to make sure that he parts ways with Manchester United.' Neville shared the view that Antony has found his 'perfect' destination in Seville, more specifically in league that 'he's suited down to the ground'. While Garnacho has to depart after taking on his manager. He added: 'If the manager doesn't win, the manager has to leave and I don't think that's going to happen this time. That's happened far too many times before. I think Garnacho will leave purely because of that, I think they've had enough. 'Garnacho can play in the Premier League, no doubt, but I think he'll love it in Spain, he'll thrive over there, he'll score goals. He'll probably be someone next season that we're all looking back on thinking, 'Why didn't Manchester United keep him?', that type of thing will probably happen, there's an element of that, but I think he has to go.' But Neville expressed a very different opinion when it comes to Kobbie Mainoo, who has also been linked with a move away this summer as the club look to avoid breaching the league's Profit and Sustainability rules. 'Mainoo, no. That's a step too far,' said Neville. 'If we can't give Kobbie Mainoo a job in that two in midfield… I look at Mainoo and the way he plays football and I think a top club would want him. Why can't we make him a top player? If he's one of ours and he's shown talent. 'I don't know what's gone on there in the last few months. He's obviously had some injuries which has caused him a problem so he needs to stay fit, but I'd like to think he could be one of that two in midfield that Ruben Amorim plays.'

Norwich City release FOURTEEN players including Euro 2024 star following Jack Wilshere manager announcement
NORWICH CITY have brutally wielded the axe following the end of the Championship season, releasing a whopping 14 players. The Canaries have even let a star of last summer's European Championships depart. The Carrow Road cull comes just days after interim manager Jack Wilshere was ruled out of the running to become the next permanent boss. The ex- Arsenal and England midfielder stepped up from his role as first-team coach in April to take charge following the sacking of Johannes Hoff Thorup. Norwich finished a disappointing 13th in the Championship and their list of freed players includes three senior stars. That's goalkeeper Angus Gunn, long-serving Cuban winger Oriel Hernandez and Danish midfielder Jacob Sorensen. Norwich-born Gunn, 29, played for England Under-21s but switched allegiance to Scotland and started all their three Euro 2024 games. A club statement read: "As previously announced, first-team players Angus Gunn, Jacob Sorensen and Oriel Hernandez will leave the club at the end of their contracts this summer. "Archie Mair and Jonathan Tomkinson will also depart the club upon expiry of their contracts, while Callum Doyle will return to parent club Manchester City following his season-long loan spell at Carrow Road. "Discussions remain ongoing with Aston Villa and Lewis Dobbin over a potential extension to his loan deal. 3 JOIN SUN VEGAS: GET £50 BONUS "Discussions are also ongoing with Manchester City and Jacob Wright over triggering an option to make the midfielder's move to Carrow Road permanent. "Caleb Ansen and Ken Aboh both return from their loan spells, while Brad Hills and Emmanuel Adegboyega remain at their loan clubs until the end of their respective campaigns. "The club have also triggered a one-year extension option in Adegboyega's contract. "Jonathan Rowe's loan to Marseille will become a permanent deal, following the obligation to buy in the agreement between the two clubs. "Academy players Lewis Shipley, Tom Finch, Adian Manning, Ellis Craven, Daniel Ogwuru, Alfie Doy, Alex Roberts, Kingston Simbai and Gabriel Keita will also be leaving the club. "Henry Bullen, Hugo Valencia Gomez and Lloyd Ofori-Manteaw will all sign professional deals with the club on July 1, whilst Harmony Okwumo will sign a contract extension. "The club would like to thank all departing players for their contribution and wish them well for the future." Stand-in chief Wilshere oversaw a 0-0 against Middlesbrough and a win over Cardiff City on the final day of the season. But his brief stint in charge wasn't enough to convince the club's top brass to give him the job on a full-time basis. Canaries Sporting Director said of Wilshere's departure in an interview with the BBC: "Jack is a fantastic person, he and I have a big history together. "He's a great coach and will be a fantastic head coach, but that's not going to be here at this particular moment in time. "Naturally, he's disappointed. He's super-ambitious, and he should be, but for where we are right now and the context, we're focussing externally. "The emotional part, the romantic part of me would love to make that decision but my job is to not get wrapped up in emotion and to make cool, objective decisions." 3
