RAK murder: Wife, lover convicted for killing lawyer, pushing car into wadi
A man, his lover, and his Asian driver were convicted in the murder of a lawyer after a calculated plot to end his life was uncovered by Ras Al Khaimah Police. According to records from the Ras Al Khaimah Correctional and Punitive Establishment, the incident began when the main suspect, identified as H.M., became involved in a relationship with a married administrative employee at a local school. Despite her being married to a lawyer, the two developed a close relationship that ultimately led to a plan to kill her husband, who was a diabetic. The plan involved the wife giving her husband a sedative and increasing the dosage of his insulin. When the attempt failed, she tried again by mixing a stronger drug with his diabetes injection. The victim lost consciousness, and believing he was dead, the woman contacted H.M. to help dispose of the body. Ras Al Khaimah Police disclosed details, stating that H.M. arrived at the victim's home and, upon realising that the man was still alive, proceeded to strangle him. He then offered his driver Dh10,000 to assist in transporting and disposing of the body. The three suspects placed the victim's body in a car, drove to a mountainous area, tied his hands to the steering wheel, and pushed the vehicle into a valley to make the death appear accidental. A shepherd later spotted the car and notified the police. Authorities launched an investigation and were able to trace the crime back to the three individuals involved. All confessed to the murder during questioning. The court sentenced the three to death. However, the wife successfully appealed her sentence, which was reduced to life imprisonment. She was released after serving one year in prison following a waiver by the victim's children.
