Regina police officer fatally shoots dog during gun investigation
Regina police say an officer shot and killed a dog during a firearms investigation in the Highland Park neighbourhood Monday evening.
Police responded to a home on the 300 block of Smith Street around 5:40 p.m. CST after a report that two men inside had guns and weren't letting anyone leave, according to a news release.
Officers set up a perimeter and began clearing the residence. Police say a dog then came out of the home and began attacking a police dog. An officer shot the attacking dog, killing it, the release said.
The police dog suffered minor injuries.
The investigation is ongoing. Police say no further details are available at this time.
