Kylie Jenner Took Summer's Polka Dot Nail Trend to the Next Level
Getty Images Leave it to Kylie Jenner to take summer's polka dot nail art trend to a whole 'nother level. The reality star and Kylie Cosmetics founder, known for her glamorous approach to all things hair, makeup, and style, combined the classic dotted style with two more nail trends for something that feels 100 percent Kylie. Jenner has been enjoying a European vacation with friends and her children, Stormi and Aire (did you catch her adorable GWRM video with Stormi?), and, well, you can't enjoy the summer sunshine without a manicure to match! Jenner worked with London-based manicurist Michelle Humphrey on her latest set, and Humphrey didn't just decorate Jenner's nails with medium-sized polka dots atop a sheer base—she mixed them up with a white-tipped French manicure and gave the dots a shiny finish for a little extra pizzazz. Jenner's nails were filed into a long oval shape and painted with a sheer base, like the one you'd typically get with a French manicure. Humphrey then added the signature white tips of a French, but she and Jenner didn't stop there! Instead of regular polish dots, the two went for something with a bit more sparkle factor: chrome-finish metallic dots scattered all over the nail, including atop the white tips! Jenner wrote that she was 'obsessed' with the set and I am too. It manages to be both subtle and glam at the same time, so you could easily wear it to work or for a wedding or summer party and it would fit right in. The Kylie Cosmetics founder has been back into nail art this year, including with a snakeskin-printed set that would have been right at home on King Kylie Tumblr and the sweetest studded pastel French manicure. TBH, I often reference her tiny bug-themed manicure from last summer, which was so adorable and so out of character. (Those lime-green tips!) What's next for Jenner and her nail art? Cardi B Gave Polka Dot Nails a High-Fashion Spin

Polka dots are everywhere this season—on slip dresses, bikinis, capri pants, silk scarves, and now, Cardi B's nails. Cardi is the latest celeb to give the polka dot manicure a whirl, though the Am I the Drama? rapper added a special, high-fashion twist to her black-and-white set. Cardi's nails, which she showed off in a quick Instagram Story over the July 4 weekend, were a long almond shape with a black base and oversized white polka dots painted all over each nail from base to tip; there were about seven dots per nail. Most of her fingers stuck to this simple, classic black-and-white polka dot motif, but if you look closely at her pointer finger, you'll see the fashion girl shoutout: a teeny tiny Chanel logo nestled in the center of the middle dot. The instantly recognizable interlocking Cs are small and subtle enough that you might miss them at first glance, but this little detail truly adds so much to the mani. Cardi worked with manicurist Coca Michelle on the Chanel-inspired set, and the timing couldn't be better; she was in Paris and is currently attending Couture Fashion Week, so her nails definitely fit the vibe. (ICYMI, SZA recently added the Gucci logo print to her nails!) The polka dot manicure has been embraced by some of our fave nail trendsetters this summer, Cardi included. Sabrina Carpenter has been wearing it nonstop since the release of her latest single 'Manchild' and even added rhinestones to one set. While celebs have pros on hand to craft their manis, you could easily create your own dotted design with a steady hand and dotting tool. Kylie slyly tagged her namesake fashion label Khy in the image, warranting a frenzy of fans in the comment section asking when it's going to be released on the webstore.
