Yorkton water park shuts down on Monday as maintenance work begins

WATCH: Yorkton's water park will be getting a well deserved break, as it is set to close down for renovations on Monday. Fruzsina de Cloedt has more. Loading the player instance is taking more time than usual Loading the player instance is taking more time than usual As Yorktonians go on their summer vacations, one of the city's landmarks is also taking a well-deserved break. Yorkton's Access Communications Water Park at the Gallagher Centre closes down for renovations on Monday. David Balysky, general manager at the Gallagher Centre gave CTV News and Yorkton Mayor Aaron Kienle a tour of the mechanical room on Thursday, a narrow space, which is always locked from the public. The noise of machines beyond the blue door were inaudible. Behind the door, an unseen part of the public pool opened up. A series of pipes and tubes ran along the ceiling, big barrels were humming and something made a clanking sound. Balysky pointed out that one of the barrels has such a small opening that only one technician can fit their arm in there to clean it. Yorkton pool Yorkton's Access Communications Water Park at the Gallagher Centre closes down for renovations on Monday. (Fruzsina De Cloedt / CTV News) 'On Monday we'll begin, draining the pools here, early in the morning,' explained Balysky earlier. 'And then we'll get into the thick of the project.' They have plenty of work cut out for them. The pool is on a bi-annual maintenance schedule. According to Balysky, they will work on 'tile repairs, and just a good deep cleaning of the water park, as well as the changing facilities.' This year is different, however, as some new tech will be installed. 'The current filtration system was installed, I believe, in 2004, so we've gotten just over 20 years of life out of it,' Kienle said. 'And we're now upgrading from what was an ozone filtration system to an ultraviolet - a UV-- filtration system, and hoping to get another 20, 25 years off of that.' Hopes are that it will provide a cleaner, safer environment for all users. Yorkton is not the first to adapt this technology. 'Other aquatic centers in the province and in the country are sort of moving away from [the ozone] system just due to the difficulty in sourcing parts and maintaining the system,' Balysky said. In the mechanical room, Balysky pointed out where the ozone filtration system used to be. Ozone tanks, as well as the associated piping and pumps were removed in May, when preliminary work began. This big undertaking is not cheap, as Kienle explained. 'The replacement of the ozone to the ultraviolet is just over $1 million, 1.1 million, and then the rest of the renovation that's happening is bringing it up to about $1.5 million,' he said. The project was awarded at the March 23 Yorkton Council meeting, with Ful-Flo Industries Ltd. as the contractor. Due to the maintenance work, East-Central Saskatchewan's only water park will be closed from July 28 through Oct. 2. Balysky encourages everyone to visit Yorkton's Shape Your City website to check what city projects are ongoing and what has been completed. 'That's the best place to go,' he said. 'We try to post weekly updates on there, what's going on with pictures, so people can kind of see those behind-the-scenes areas that they normally wouldn't see.'

Keep your pool spotless with the biggest WYBOT sale ever: Save up to $1,000!

Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority Do you have a pool at home? I feel you! Maintaining and cleaning it can be really time-consuming and tiring. Robotic pool cleaners are all the rage among pool owners these days. Those things can get pricey, though. But hey, it's Prime Day! There are plenty of stunning deals everywhere, and you can definitely save on robotic pool cleaners, too. Let us introduce you to some of WYBOT's hottest robotic pool cleaners, which are all on sale! Today, we'll focus on the WYBOT S2 Solar, WYBOT C2 Vision, and WYBOT F1. Let's go over each deal and tell you all about these excellent pool cleaners. All of them are very special in one way or another, and they all come with special features you don't usually find elsewhere in the market. Let's dig right into the nitty gritty! WYBOT S2 Solar Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority Retail price: $1,999.99 $1,999.99 Deal: $1,199.99 (40% off), plus a free $100 handheld pool vacuum You know one annoying part about robotic pool cleaners? You usually have to put them in the pool, take them out, and plug them in (or dock) to recharge. All of this is generally done manually, and it can get a bit annoying, even if it beats manually cleaning the pool. If you're like me, you would rather not have to think about and do all that. I'd rather be able to send the robot off without even touching it. Well, the WYBOT S2 Solar is the best solution for those who want a more hands-off approach to robotic pool cleaners. As the name implies, the WYBOT S2 Solar powers itself using a solar panel. This panel hangs by the side of your pool. There is a solar panel on the top side, and the base goes inside the water, on the pool's wall. It has two buttons on the solar panel section, which can either send the robot to clean or bring it back to the dock. The robot will literally dock itself there every time you request it or when it finishes cleaning, and juice up using wireless charging. It is, by far, the most convenient and easiest-to-manage robotic pool cleaner I have tested. It cleans very well, and you can pick between a wide variety of cleaning modes. In short, it can handle the pool floor, waterline, and walls. The suction power is pretty strong at 3,962 GPH (gallons per hour). The robot will also use multiple technologies to clean efficiently. It has sensors to throw around, including a gyroscope, ultrasonic, depth, and infrared. Oh, by the way, it has a max operating depth of 9.8 ft, so keep that in mind before you make the purchase. If your pool is deeper, go check out the WYBOT C2 Vision in the next section. Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority The robot has a 2.5-hour battery life, and it can clean 3,229 sqft in that time. It will go back to its dock if it reaches 20%. Recharging takes some time, of course. WYBOT mentions it is able to fully recharge with two days of ample sunlight. If the sun insists on hiding, you can always plug it into a wall outlet manually. While there are cheaper robots with similar performance out there, you can't put a price on convenience. I like smart devices that need little to no attention. After all, the whole point of these things is to save time and effort. You might as well go all the way! The solar panel also brings the added benefit of communicating with the robot underwater. Many robot pool cleaners lose connection when submerged, so this is a really nice added benefit. You can use the app to schedule cleaning sessions, too. Making it even more of a thoughtless processor. The app has seven cleaning modes: Full Pool, Floor, Wall, Waterline, Wall Then Floor, Eco Floor, and Turbo Floor. If you care for measurements, it is 27.9 x 19 x 28.94 in and weighs 70.5 lbs. By the way, if you're feeling like doing things manually, part of the Prime Day deal is that you'll get a $100 handheld pool vacuum for free. I honestly wouldn't use it much, considering the WYBOT S2 Solar is so excellent, but it's there if you need it. It might be suitable for those cloudy days when the solar panel isn't catching much energy. This is an $800 discount before even counting the $100 gift. If I had a pool, I would be jumping into this deal head-first! WYBOT C2 Vision Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority Retail price: $999.99 $999.99 Deal: $629.99 (37% off) WYBOT seems to do something very special with all of its models. For example, the WYBOT C2 Vision has AI capabilities. What does this mean? Well, the robot's sensors can scan the pool floor thoroughly, and the AI smarts will find messes on its own, then focus on cleaning those parts of the pool. Additionally, it will continue learning your pool's characteristics and adapt to your needs the more you use it. While testing it, I was able to check this artificial intelligence feature multiple times. What I did was throw dirt and small rocks into different sections of the pool. The robot would actually find those messes pretty quickly. WYBOT mentions it makes the robot 20x more efficient to use 'Dirt Hunting Mode.' In my experience, the robot would actually focus on those areas until all the debris was gone. It worked very well, and never really failed me. The AI Vision software will also improve with time, as it will learn common patterns and hotspots of debris. Of course, it can also handle regular pool cleaning sessions very well. It has the capability to clean floors, walls, waterlines, steps, and slopes. The WYBOT C2 Vision will map the whole pool and come up with the best plan of action to clean your pool as efficiently as possible. The app also has eight modes, so you can customize each cleaning session to your needs. These include VISION, Full, Floor, Wall, Waterline-only, Wall then Floor, Turbo, and Eco modes. The robot features a 3,592 GPH, which is nearly as strong as the S2 Solar's. It also comes with a dual-layer filtration system to ensure thorough cleaning. The main basket comes with 180μm filtration, and there's also a secondary 10μm ultra-fine filter. This will ensure that even the finest pieces of dirt and debris will stay off the water. Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority The battery life is better than the S2 Solar's at three hours, and it can cover 2,152 sqft in that time. While it doesn't have a cool docking station like the WYBOT S2 Solar, the robot does travel back to the pool's edge, where you can easily pull it out of the pool, or you can just leave it parked there and schedule future cleaning sessions. At least you won't have to go fishing for it in the middle of the pool! Trust me, that is not a fun task. I've had to do it multiple times. When it's time to recharge, it can do so in just three hours. This means that there won't be much downtime. It also helps that it is pretty small and portable compared to most other robotic pool cleaners. It measures just 18 x 7 x 12 in and weighs 23.1 lbs. Some of these robotic pool cleaners are huge and heavy, so it's refreshing to see something much easier to carry. As mentioned in the previous section, this robot can operate at greater depths, so it's a better option for those with deeper tools. It can handle up to 13 ft of depth. That's actually up there with the best, and it actually beats many much more expensive robots in terms of operating depth. With this deal, you are saving $370, and the total price of $629.99 is much more accessible. It's a really good robot and a nice alternative to the WYBOT S2 Solar if you prefer not to spend well over a grand. WYBOT F1 WYBOT Retail price: $499.99 $499.99 Deal: $299.99 (40% off) So, the WYBOT S2 Solar and WYBOT C2 Vision can handle most of the pool cleaning, from the floors to the walls, slopes, and even steps. However, they are missing one function: they can't clean the surface! Pool owners among us will know how much trash can get stuck on the pool's surface, especially if you live in a place with a lot of trees or plants. It's not fun to swim around these, so that's where the WYBOT F1 Pool Skimmer comes into play. The WYBOT F1 only has one job, really, but it does it very well. It will go through your pool's surface and pick up leaves, dead bugs, petals, hair, or any floating debris. It has a seven-liter bin with a fine 180μm filter, so it will take a while to fill it up with debris. It's bigger than what you find in most other pool cleaners, which are usually five liters. Aside from covering the general area, it runs into walls to pick up anything stuck to the pool edges. And because it has a tangle-free design, you won't need to worry about hair getting stuck anywhere. Cleaning out rollers and brushes can get really annoying, not to mention that it all gets wet and kind of nasty. The F1 will save you the hassle. What about the cool factor? After all, all WYBOT cleaners have one, right? This one has a 33W solar panel built right into its top area! This means it can recharge whenever the sun is out. Under ideal conditions, its battery can be filled up using the sun in just 6 hours. This means it actually charges faster than its operating battery life! WYBOT When fully charged, it can run for 8 hours straight in 'Standard Mode.' That said, there is also a 'Smart Mode,' which can keep the robot cleaning for up to 24 hours. This smarter mode will clean for 10 minutes and auto-pause for 10 minutes. These sessions will just run in a loop throughout the day (and night). If it gets a bit too cloudy in your area, WYBOT will also ship you a charger separately. You don't have to rely on the sun. Of course, you can also control it with the official app. And the good news is that since this one floats, it will offer a much more seamless experience in terms of connectivity. Robots losing connectivity when underwater is a very common issue in the world of robotic pool cleaners, as we previously mentioned. You can use the app to schedule sessions, control the robot from afar, use an on-screen remote, and more. You can even press a button to retrieve it, and the WYBOT F1 Pool Skimmer will just swim over to the edge of the pool. This one is bigger at 27.9 x 19 x 28.94 in, and it weighs 70.5 lbs. That said, it is very capable, and it has a larger filter basket then most other robotic pool cleaners out there. It's also important to consider that since it is something that can just live in your pool and charge with the sun, you won't have to carry it around very often. Now, imagine having a WYBOT S2 Solar and a WYBOT F1 Pool Skimmer. They can both offer a nearly hands-off experience and be powered by the sun! You would barely ever have to do anything to them, and it would be the ideal team to keep your whole pool clean at all times. That's the dream team right there! The $200 discount on the WYBOT F1 is really nice, and it will nicely complement either of the robots listed above very well. Which of these are you buying? That pool isn't going to clean itself, so either you spend several hours on it, or you take advantage of these deals while you can. Prime Day only comes once a year, and it usually brings the hottest deals around. It might be best to pull the trigger now! All that said, these are not the only deals WYBOT is offering for Prime Day. You can check out WYBOT's Amazon and its official website, as well as other great products that can help you keep your pool squeaky clean.

iGarden's Pool Cleaner K Pro 150 Combines Suction With Endurance

Owning a pool should feel like a vacation in your own yard, yet many people spend more time chasing dust and sunken leaves than floating in the sun. iGarden traced the failure point of most pool robots and discovered a simple formula: Strong suction plus a long runtime equals pool cleanliness. Lose either half and the crystal-clear water is all too temporary. The new iGarden Pool Cleaner K Pro 150 brings both sides of the equation into perfect balance, then hides the math so you can forget the chore even exists. IGarden Why suction alone is not enough Fine dust, clingy algae and water-logged leaves need serious negative pressure to dislodge. But pools are restless. Return jets circulate, kids cannon-ball and a breeze turns the surface into a moving conveyor. Debris you just vacuumed can drift and resettle minutes later. For a truly spotless basin, repeated overlapping passes make all the difference, so the battery needs to last hours, not minutes. Engineered for endurance: 15 hours per charge, 21 days carefree A high-density lithium pack delivers K Pro 150 up to 15 continuous hours of runtime, then rests for roughly 21 days between charges when you schedule two or three one-hour maintenance cycles each week. This is thanks to two features: iGarden AI-Inverter. Samples the robot's operating state in real time and fine-tunes motion control—wheel torque, pump speed, climb power—so energy is never wasted on low-load moments yet rises instantly for walls, slopes or steps. Optimized flow channel + turbine impeller. A widened intake and aero-profiled impeller keep negative pressure high without raising wattage, boosting suction while the battery sip-feeds power. iGarden Hydrodynamic shell: less drag, less re-pollution Moving bodies create pressure fronts—high at the nose, low behind. If the tail vacuum grows too large, it drags loose dirt back into water you just cleaned. K Pro 150's racecar-style tapered silhouette keeps that low-pressure zone short. Water hugs the chassis longer, eddies shrink and debris funnels into the intake instead of swirling in the wake. A widened throat and turbine-style impeller hold a strong negative-pressure differential across a broad aperture, delivering vigorous suction without turbulent waste. Turbo 200% mode: emergency sparkle Need a rapid clean-up? Tap Turbo 200% mode and the robot shifts to peak suction, blasting away stubborn debris and leaving the pool sparkling in no time. When the sprint finishes, the unit idles and waits for your next command—so for everyday maintenance you simply choose the mode again, keeping power exactly where you want it. iGarden Intelligent navigation and obstacle escape Guided by an inertial measurement unit and multiple infrared sensors, the robot charts a continuous S-curve that cleans the pool floor and walls in one seamless pass. When its tracks sense resistance—steps, drain covers or light niches—iGarden AI-Inverter instantly ramps up power output to muscle over obstacles. The result is uninterrupted, edge-to-edge coverage while you stay dry on the deck.
