Jailed Ex-Malaysia PM Najib Allowed to Petition for House Arrest
Former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak won the right to petition to serve the rest of his prison term under house arrest, in a major victory for the jailed politician and his supporters.
Malaysia's highest court on Wednesday dismissed the Attorney General's Chambers' challenge against a January Court of Appeal decision that allowed Najib to resume his petition to serve the remainder of his prison sentence at home. The unanimous decision by three Federal Court judges means Najib may pursue his legal bid to compel the government to verify and execute a royal order allegedly allowing his house arrest.
