Paul Gallagher joins Oasis star brother Liam on Edinburgh-bound private jet ahead of looming court date after being charged with rape and other sexual offences
The brotherly bond was well in evidence on Friday as Paul Gallagher joined supportive younger brother Liam at Luton airport - just weeks ahead of his scheduled court appearance. The older brother of Oasis stars Liam and Noel has been charged with rape and string of other violent sex offences, following an investigation that began last year. Paul, 59, accompanied Liam and his fiancée Debbie Gwyther as they prepared to board an Edinburgh-bound private jet. And the brothers were seen laughing and joking as they made their way into the airport of the flight after travelling to Bedfordshire from Liam's £4million home in north London. The pair were en route to Edinburgh while Oasis - currently in the midst of a lucrative reunion tour - perform for three consecutive nights at the city's Murrayfield Stadium. It's understood that Liam, 54, has been supporting rape-accused Paul while he prepares for his imminent court appearance. As well as rape, he is also accused of sexual assault, coercive control and making threats to kill. The offences are said to date from between 2022 and 2024 and relate to one woman. Paul, who is one year older than Noel and seven years older than Liam, grew up with the pair in Burnage, Manchester. While he has previously not been involved with Oasis, which is currently mid-way through its sold-out reunion tour, Paul is listed on an official programme as the 'tour DJ'. Paul lives in a flat that Noel bought in 2004 and has worked as a DJ and photographer. He has previously described himself as living a normal life 'amongst the lower middle classes'. He is expected to appear at Westminster Crown Court on August 27. A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: 'Paul Gallagher, 59, of East Finchley, has been charged with rape, coercive and controlling behaviour, three counts of sexual assault, three counts of intentional strangulation, two counts of making a threat to kill and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. 'The offences are reported to have taken place between 2022-2024. The charges follow an investigation which commenced in 2024. 'A woman is being supported by specially trained officers.' Oasis announced their highly anticipated reunion tour in August last year, after Noel quit in 2009 after a backstage brawl at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris. Before the recent string of concerts, the last time they played Wembledy was on July 12, 2009, when they performed during their Dig Out Your Soul tour. The group kicked off their Oasis Live '25 world tour on July 4 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. Oasis have also dominated the UK album charts, with three top five albums, according to the Official Charts Company. Following their final gig in Edinburgh on April 10, they will perform at Dublin's Croke Park before heading to Japan, South Korea, South America, Australia and North America. Paul, who is one year older than Noel and seven years older than Liam, grew up with the pair in Burnage, Manchester (the young Gallagher children in 1984)

Villarreal signs midfielder Thomas Partey after he gets bail on rape charges
VILLARREAL, Spain (AP) — Spanish soccer club Villarreal signed midfielder Thomas Partey on Thursday, two days after he was granted bail on rape charges in England. Villarreal said the 32-year-old Ghana international, who became a free agent when his Arsenal contract expired in June, signed a one-year contract. The club's announcement touted Partey's on-field attributes before turning to his legal case. 'The player firmly maintains his innocence and denies all charges against him. The club respects the fundamental principle of the presumption of innocence and will await the outcome of the judicial process, which will be responsible for clarifying the facts of the case,' Villarreal's statement said. 'Due to the law in England in relation to ongoing proceedings the club is unable to comment further.' Partey was granted bail Tuesday after appearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court in London charged with five counts of rape. He has also been charged with one count of sexual assault. The alleged offenses, between 2021-22, relate to three women. Villarreal added that it 'wishes to clearly reiterate its strong commitment to respect and diversity and firmly condemns any act of violence in all its forms, including gender-based violence, discrimination, racism, xenophobia, or any behavior that undermines the dignity of individuals.' The midfielder was expected to join the team at its training ground on Friday, Villarreal said. Partey's lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, has previously said he 'denies all the charges against him.' Villarreal justify signing ex-Arsenal man Thomas Partey despite outstanding rape charges
Villarreal have announced the signing of former Arsenal and Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey on a one-year deal. On Tuesday, Partey appeared in court in London to answer to five charges of rape and one charge of sexual assault brought against him by two victims. Partey has defended his innocence from the alleged charges, but that has earned him little grace from a large chunk of Villarreal fans. The 30-year-old is currently on bail. Yellow Submarine support react However since reports of the move first emerged, Villarreal fans have taken to social media and written to the club to express their rejection and disgust at the idea of signing Partey.
