Marvel Studios Recasts Beloved MCU Character
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is tied together by the recurring appearances of fan-favorite characters and the actors that portray them. As with most overlarge franchises, however, there have been recasts over the years. Now it looks like Marvel Studios made the decision to recast another MCU character for an upcoming project.
Several MCU projects are currently in the works for both theaters and television. This particular recast will happen in an upcoming Disney Plus series, with the character having first appeared in the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel Spider-Man: Far From Home . It's an interesting move on Marvel's part, but because of the unique scenario surrounding this role, it's quite understandable.
This news specifically comes via insider Daniel Richtman, so we'll have to see what the official statement from Marvel Studios will be, but it looks like Richtman's claims are accurate so far. Fans will know for sure when the series Vision Quest is released via Disney Plus, but read below to know what Richtman had to share.
According to Daniel Richtman, it looks like the character E.D.I.T.H., an A.I. built by Tony Stark which first debuted in Spider-Man: Far From Home , will be recast. This original version of the character was first voiced by Dawn Michelle King. The artificial intelligence was specifically tied to Stark's signature sunglasses that Tom Holland's Peter Parker later inherited but lost to the Department of Damage Control.
Now Dawn Michelle King is apparently being recast with a new actress that will portray a human version of the artificial intelligence MCU character. This cast member will be none other than Emily Hampshire, who previously worked with Vision Quest showrunner Terry Matalas on 12 Monkeys .
It's possible that King will still portray the original voice version of the character, but equally possible that Hampshire will replace her entirely, so we'll have to see what happens. However, it's an interesting development for Vision Quest , which will include several artificial intelligence characters featured in the MCU and in humanoid forms similar to Vision.
Vision Quest is scheduled to be released via Disney Plus in 2026. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding the highly-anticipated series as we have them.
