Arrests over shooting at Doncaster house in 'targeted attack gone wrong'
Two men have been arrested after a house with a mother and child inside was shot at in a "targeted attack gone wrong".Police were called to reports of gunshots on Petersgate in the Scawthorpe area of Doncaster at about 00:24 BST on Friday and found a damaged window and said the mother and child, who were asleep, were not hurt but "were wrongly put in danger following reckless behaviour".The men, aged 52 and 55, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence and have both been released on bail.
A South Yorkshire force spokesperson said a red 4x4 which had fled the scene of the shooting was found on fire in nearby Green Lane shortly Insp Claire Moss said: "Hearing gun fire in the middle of the night will have been terrifying, and rightly this would have caused concern in the community."She urged anyone with information to come forward."Our communities often hold local knowledge and intelligence that can help fill the gaps in our investigations - if you know something that will help, do the right thing."
