Benny Blanco, 37, says his mind is similar to a '15-year-old girl's' in brazen new interview

Benny Blanco has revealed that his brain is a lot like that of a 15-year-old girl's when it comes to his music interests. Blanco, 37, who is engaged to singer Selena Gomez, opened up about his record-producing methods in a new interview with Harper's Bazaar for its Icons issue. 'I feel like my mind and a 15-year-old girl's mind are very similar in what we like, musically,' he told the magazine. 'I've just always been drawn to having fun and making stuff that makes me feel good. If it winds up being something that other people like, then that's cool to me,' he continued. 'If it doesn't, then that's also cool to me. I think being iconic is not giving a f**k.' Over the span of his career, Blanco has produced and written tons of hit songs for some of your favorite stars like Katy Perry, Rihanna, and Justin Bieber. Some of his most popular songs include Perry's I Kissed a Girl, and Kesha's TiK ToK. 'I had no idea my career was gonna be what it was gonna be,' Blanco admitted in the new interview. 'When we were making Teenage Dream [with Perry], we didn't know it was gonna be this iconic song people are gonna talk about forever,' he shared. 'We were just making a song and having fun and getting drunk. It's not rocket science. Sometimes you happen to be in the right spot at the right time.' However, he admitted that he is quite spiritual and often turns to things like crystals to support his work. 'I'm like woo-woo, put patchouli all over me and stick a rabbit's foot up my butt,' he told the outlet. 'I'm totally down to go on that journey... I believe in fate, karma, energy.' This year, Blanco has also collaborated on an album with his fiancée, Gomez, titled, I Said I Love You First. The album moved 120,000 in its first week, according to Billboard, and debuted at number two on the Billboard 200. However, it's unclear if he will be helping Gomez re-record one of her favorite songs, Who Says, in the near future. Gomez revealed that she was interested in re-recording the song during a recent appearance on the Therapuss with Jake Shane podcast. During the interview, Gomez reflected on the time she performed with her band as Selena Gomez & The Scene from 2009 and 2012. Before going solo, she made three studio albums with the group, including one of her favorite songs she's ever made - Who Says. Gomez, who has not gone on tour since 2016, added: 'That's honestly the only reason I would ever do a tour again - to perform Who Says. 'I need to redo it. I should recut it,' the Only Murders in the Building star continued. She also said that she would want to re-record the track because she sounds so 'young' on the original recording. 'I would have to take it down an octave from each year I've sang it,' she added.
