GCC states gear up for unified tourist visa
Riyadh – The GCC has taken a major step toward transforming regional travel by accelerating plans to launch a unified tourist visa. During the 39th meeting of Gulf Interior Ministries' Passport Directors held in Riyadh, Secretary-General Jasem al Budaiwi applauded the technical teams for their 'valuable and ongoing efforts' in rolling out this venture. The discussions covered the current progress on the visa framework and explored how to streamline passport procedures across all GCC nations. Such a visa aims to enhance mobility, simplify cross-border tourism, and deepen regional unity—moving closer to the broader vision set by GCC leaders . This development reflects the collective ambition of Gulf states to bolster security cooperation, improve travel convenience, and foster stronger socio-economic ties, all while harnessing advanced technologies to meet evolving security needs . © Apex Press and Publishing Provided by SyndiGate Media Inc. Air NZ boosting flight network between Hamilton, Christchurch
Air New Zealand Airbus A320. Photo: 123RF Air New Zealand is boosting its regional network with a jet service between Hamilton-Christchurch from 18 September. The route brings domestic jet services back to Hamilton for the first time in 25 years. The 171-seat Airbus A320 flights would operate alongside the airline's ATR 72 turboprop services. Air New Zealand chief executive Greg Foran said the introduction of jet services was about building connectivity, particularly between the North and South Islands, and supporting growth where there was a clearly established demand. "Hamilton-Christchurch is one of our strongest and fastest-growing regional routes, and the addition of jet services reflects that increasing demand. It offers customers more choice and more seats," he said. "The A320 will provide more seats at key travel times, particularly for business and leisure travellers and those with onward connections. "Our ATR aircraft remain a vital part of the schedule, giving customers flexibility across the day."
