Morgan Gibbs-White to Tottenham situation EXPLAINED!

Tottenham's pursuit of talisman Morgan Gibbs-White appears to have hit major hurdles in recent days, with talks ongoing to try and resolve the issues between both clubs. Spurs had activated Gibbs-White's £60m release clause last week before Forest claimed that the Europa League winners had made an illegal approach to try and sign the 25-year-old. As a result, the transfer remains in the balance and the England international has retuned to pre-season training at Forest as usual. The Sun's Senior Football Writer, Tom Barclay, explained in depth to HaytersTV the issues between both clubs and where the situation is at currently. 'Last Thursday it was a real shock move, suddenly out of nowhere Spurs had put in what was believed to be a £60m bid,' Barclay explained. 'This was supposed to trigger this somewhat secret release clause and he was even expected on the Friday to be at Hotspur Way having a medical. 'And then it all kicked off basically. Forest were very unhappy with the whole situation, they issued both Tottenham and Gibbs-White's representatives legal complaints, specifically over them speaking to the player without Forest's permission. 'But also having objection against breaches of confidentiality over this particular release clause. 'Gibbs-White has been training all week at Forest as normal, apparently he's been training very well. So there's no sign as yet, if there will be at all, of him going on strike or anything, he's proving to be very professional. Despite the ongoing battle, Barclay still believes that Gibbs-White will end up at Tottenham before the Premier League season kicks off next month. 'The way I see it is if it were a simple release clause, where you pay the figure and that's it, Gibbs-White would likely be in a Spurs shirt already. 'I think it would at least be fair to say there are questions raised over whether all the conditions of the release clause have been met yet. 'I still get the sense that he will probably end up a Spurs player but Forest are not going to make it easy for Tottenham. They don't seem happy with this whole situation.'

Tottenham and Nottingham Forest locked in Morgan Gibbs-White standoff as dispute over £60m release clause explained

TOTTENHAM and Nottingham Forest are engaged in a battle of brinkmanship over Morgan Gibbs-White. Forest issued legal complaints to Spurs and Gibbs-White's representatives after the North Londoners thought they had triggered a £60million release clause to buy the England man. 4 The Tricky Trees are arguing they did not give permission to approach their talisman. While they all cite breach of confidentiality of the release clause, given they did not tell Tottenham of its existence. They are yet to take their formal complaint to the Premier League, who would be obliged to investigate any objection they receive. The fact that Gibbs-White is still a Forest player raises the question as to whether all the conditions of the release clause have been met. Some release clauses are not as simple as paying a specific figure. For example, they can also have conditions involving the payment plan or stipulations involving who the buying club is. Theoretically, if Spurs have not met those conditions but suddenly now do, it would add further weight to Forest 's breach of confidentiality argument, which could explain why the move is currently in limbo. Having already sold key winger Anthony Elanga to Newcastle for £55m, Forest are not under financial pressure to sell and would prefer to keep Gibbs-White. They have been attempting to extend his contract for the last year, but it is understood that MGW and his representatives have thus far not been interested in entering negotiations. Gibbs-White, 25, trained today as normal during Forest's pre-season. What's next in Gibbs-White to Tottenham saga? | Transfers Exposed The belief is that he is still likely to become a Spurs player this summer, but it is a matter of who blinks first between Forest and Tottenham. 4 TRANSFER NEWS LIVE - KEEP UP WITH ALL THE LATEST FROM A BUSY SUMMER WINDOW 4

Brentford have bizarre 5pm deadline to trigger ex-Chelsea star's £35m release clause as they target Mbeumo replacement

BRENTFORD have until 5pm TODAY to trigger Omari Hutchinson's release clause at Ipswich. The Bees, looking to replace Manchester United -bound Bryan Mbuemo, must bid £35million for the winger for the deal to happen. 4 4 Brentford made an offer on Monday evening. However, it is understood that the bid was well below the release clause. Hutchinson, 21, completed a permanent £22.5m move to Portman Road from Chelsea a year ago after a successful loan stint in Suffolk. The £35m clause came into effect after Ipswich 's relegation back to the Premier League. In the same way, Liam Delap's £40m release clause was reduced to £30m once Ipswich suffered the drop. Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna, hopeful of bouncing back to the Premier League at the first attempt, is keen to keep hold of Hutchinson. The forward starred for England against Germany in the final of the European Under-21 Championship. If Tuesday's deadline passes without Brentford triggering the release clause, Ipswich will fancy their chances of keeping Hutchinson. As of tomorrow, the Championship side will be able to increase the transfer price to whatever they choose. However, Ipswich are allowing skipper Sam Morsy to speak to a club in Kuwait. Buzz Off! Forest considering legal action over Tottenham approach for Morgan Gibbs-White

Nottingham Forest are considering legal action against Tottenham over an alleged illegal approach for Morgan Gibbs-White. The England international was set for a medical in north London on Friday after Spurs were understood to have triggered Gibbs-White's £60million release clause. Advertisement However, Forest have accused the Europa League winners of contacting Gibbs-White directly rather than making an official approach. England's Morgan Gibbs-White has won four caps (Mike Egerton/PA) The PA news agency understands Forest are furious and, in response, are drawing up legal papers with a view to reporting Spurs to the Premier League. As result, the deal appears to be on hold for now, although Forest are powerless to stop it happening if Spurs go through the proper channels. Tottenham have been approached for comment by the PA news agency. Advertisement Gibbs-White joined Forest for £25m in the summer of 2022 following their promotion to the Premier League and was instrumental in delivering European football to Forest for the first time since 1996, with seven goals and eight assists in 34 Premier League games. He was on Manchester City's radar earlier this summer but north London looked set to be his next destination. Anthony Elanga looks set to leave Forest for Newcastle (Mike Egerton/PA) Forest's late collapse in their pursuit of Champions League football looks like it will prove costly as Gibbs-White would swap the Conference League for Europe's premier competition if he eventually does join Spurs. Losing Gibbs-White, who has won four caps for England, would be another blow to Forest, who are also set to sell Anthony Elanga to Newcastle. Advertisement If and when the pair do leave, Forest, who are clear of any PSR worries, will have a sizeable transfer kitty as they look to build on last season's seventh-placed finish in the Premier League. Boss Nuno Espirito Santo could have over £100million to spend. Welcome to Nottingham Forest, Jair Cunha! ✍️ — Nottingham Forest (@NFFC) July 11, 2025 They did make a move in the transfer market on Friday, bringing in Brazilian defender Jair Cunha.
