Met Office map reveals where Brits will bask in 29C heat this WEEK as thunderstorms & ‘intense' downpours to hit

A MAP reveals where Brits will be basking in 29C sunshine this week, but parts of the country will also be battered by thunderstorms. With temperatures set to climb again this week, many of us will have our sights set on a visit to the local boozer or take in the rays on the beach or green space. 5 5 Following a patch of gloomy grey weather and scattered rainfall, revellers may enjoy temperatures as high as 29C on Friday in southern England. But these sunny conditions may be short lived, Met Office Meteorologist Craig Snell explained, as a plum of warm air from Iberia and France is set to kick in on Wednesday evening, bringing a chance of thunderstorms. He said: "After Wednesday, we start to draw up some very warm and humid air from Iberia and France, and that will make it quite humid across much of the UK and that humidity will potentially spark off some thunderstorms. "From late Wednesday and especially into Thursday, we start to see the risk of some thunderstorms around and that will continue as we go through Thursday and Friday and potentially into Saturday as well." The Met Office added that it would begin to feel increasingly humid on Thursday, bringing about the increased risk of some heavy or even thundery showers developing. Craig continued: "By the time we get to midweek, it will feel very different out there, with quite humid night times also becoming a good deal warmer than what we have been experiencing over the last couple of nights, so probably borderline uncomfortable for some people by day." This comes just days after the Met Office issued a severe weather warning for thunderstorms across southern England. The predicted 40mm of rainfall on Saturday was higher than what England saw during the entire month of May. Met Office data shows England recorded 32.8mm of rain last month – almost half the usual monthly average. Meanwhile, Brits abroad have been urged not to drink the beer amid a scorching 42-degree heatwave from Africa. Areas of the country roasted under extreme heat over the weekend - and the balmy temperatures look set to stay. Some spots were so hot the state forecaster, Aemet, was forced to issue weather warnings. Yellow and amber alerts came into force on Sunday - with Sevilla, Cordoba and Jaen in the south worst affected. Emergency guidance was issued to tourists and locals alike advising them on how to stay safe when it's sweltering. One suggestion likely unpopular with Brits on their hols was to avoid alcohol, because it has a dehydrating effect on the body. The advice is to drink water often, even if you're not thirsty, and avoid both alcohol and caffeine. It was also recommended to "dress smart", which means wearing loose-fitting clothes - particularly cotton or linen if possible. Lighter colours reflect the sun so can help you to stay cool. Another point is to simply stay indoors during times of peak temperatures, and certainly to avoid any strenuous activity under the sun. 5 5

Spilt Milk music festival is bombarded with complaints months before it even starts as huge issue emerges

Aussie revellers are worried they will have to sleep on the street as accommodation skyrockets for music festival Spilt Milk. The country's biggest single-day festival Spilt Milk made a triumphant return after a hiatus last year that left music fans heartbroken. Organisers made the exciting announcement on social media on May 1, revealing dates and locations that promise an electrifying lineup and unforgettable experiences. Fans are now scrambling to book accommodation in Ballarat, Perth, Canberra and the Gold Coast in December after tickets for all four cities sold out in record time. With such a high demand, Spilt Milk has offered revellers an option to camp at both Canberra and Ballarat shows, with spots on sale from mid-May. Camping was on offer in previous years, but event organisers have since increased the capacity for both cities for the 2025 shows. Organisers have advised festival-goers to check out hotels, apartments and Airbnb's for accommodation in all four cities. However, the demand for accommodation has sent prices soaring, with some partygoers fearing they will be forced to 'sleep on the streets'. 'Looks like we'll be sleeping on the side of the street for Spilt Milk,' one attendee posted on social media along with a screenshot of Airbnb prices in Canberra. '$300 for a one-bedroom for a night is insane, kind of regret buying tickets,' a second person wrote. A third chimed: 'The closest accommodation I can find is an hour-and-a-half drive away'. Another person, who lives in the area, offered their backyard to desperate attendees commenting: 'Bring a tent guys. My backyard is free'. Sydneysiders hoping to attend Spilt Milk in 2025 could opt for the Canberra leg of the festival on December 13. Event organisers have scheduled buses to depart from Sydney on the day of the festival for those unable to stay near the festival site. However, spots are limited and attendees will have to pre-book their spot on the bus, Spilt Milk's website advises. Those heading to Ballarat on December 6 for the festival can also catch a bus to and from 12 different locations including Bendigo, Castlemaine, Creswick, Geelong, Werribee, Kyneton, Daylesford, Ringwood, Melton, Mordialloc, Melbourne's Carlton Gardens and Caroline Springs. Revellers heading to Spilt Milk in Perth on December 7 or the Gold Coast on December 14 are advised to look for hotel, apartment or Airbnbs for accommodation. Spilt Milk took to social media to reveal the formidable lineup which boasts two of the biggest rappers in the world as headliners. Multiple Grammy winner Kendrick Lamar, fresh from his Super Bowl half-time performance will lead the charge alongside fellow US rapper Doechii, across all four festival dates. Florida-based Doechii is currently riding high off the back of an Australian number one for her track Anxiety. The impressive lineup will also include the likes of Sarah Landry, Dominic Fike, ScHoolboy Q, d4vd, Nessa Barrett, Sofia Isella, Skin On Skin, sombr, Rebecca Black, The Rions, South Summit, and many more. The festival took an unexpected break, leaving many wondering about its future and in July, 2024, it was cancelled in a major blow to Australian music lovers. It was the latest in a series of festivals to be cancelled as the industry endured a tough year. It was unclear why the festival was called off, however others struggled to sell enough tickets.
