Cancer-survivor from Kanker tops state Class 10 exam
Raipur: The tag of supergirl would sit easy on Ishika Bala . The class 10 student from Maoist-hit Kanker district not only defeated cancer but also went on to top the state board farmer's daughter scored 99.2% marks, standing first in an exam that only 76% managed to pass. Ishika's achievement is a beacon of hope for the district where female literacy rate is barely 59.6%.Ishika recently recovered from her battle with blood cancer, and studied for her exams despite the rigours of treatment. She would have appeared in the class 10 exams last year but her health was in a very precarious credited her success to the support of her parents and teachers and said she wants to become an IAS officer.
