Surge trio turn into road warriors as Calgary runs past Black Jacks in Ottawa

The Calgary Surge were looking for a spark from their big three to help pull them out of a rut on the road Saturday, and they got it. Calgary got a combined 75 points from Jameer Nelson Jr. Greg Brown III and Sean Miller-Moore to defeat Ottawa 112-101. The win snapped a two-game Surge losing streak. Nelson Jr. led the way with 29 points, six assists and four steals, while Brown had 26 points and 12 rebounds. Miller-Moore chipped in with 20 points, five rebounds and five assists. The Surge hustled hard, snagging 25 rebounds. 'It's part of our identity – it's the effort. Offensive rebounds are usually about the effort, and I think we came in with the tunnel vision mindset today,' said Surge head coach Kaleb Canales. 'We knew it was going to be a tough game on the road in a great environment, a well coached team, and we needed everything we got from everyone who played today.' 'I know on paper, analytically we're not one of the top offensive rebounding teams,' he continued. 'We've had nights like this, but I think this is a season high. 'I think our mindset was that we had dropped two in a row for the first time all year. We hadn't done that and that was a goal of ours. 'We got a serious group that cares about basketball, and they wanted to get this tough win on the road today.' Isaih Moore led the Black Jacks with a career-high 32 points and 14 rebounds. Next up for the Surge is a Monday game in Montreal against the Alliance.
