NFL world overreacts to debut of Browns QB Shedeur Sanders
Friday night marked the preseason debut of Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Sanders got the start for the Browns against the Carolina Panthers and led the Browns to three touchdowns. He finished the game with 138 passing yards on 14-of-23 passing, two passing touchdowns and zero interceptions. A strong rookie debut for sure and just enough to flip social media on its head.
It only took one preseason game for fans to start pounding their chest, crying racism and basically putting Sanders in the Hall of Fame. We aren't saying Sanders is going to be a terrible quarterback, but I would caution everyone not to take too much from one preseason game, whether it's positive or negative. But the overreactions came in droves and we have a feeling this entire season is going to be a series of one side pounding their chest and the next week they are silent while the other side does it. Even in Friday's game, Sanders' performance was up and down with some highlight reel plays and some that reminded us of why most teams didn't want to use a high pick on him.
In going over some of the most dramatic responses, we thought we would share a few of our favorites.
