World's largest rubber duck to splash back into Ohio this weekend
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The world's largest rubber duck is waddling back into Ohio this weekend. Affectionately known as Mama Duck, the inflatable duck standing more than six stories tall is splashing into Put-in-Bay on Friday through Sunday, near the island's south-side airport at the intersection of Langram and Meechen roads. The appearance will mark Mama Duck's second in Ohio after she joined the Hartville Jeep Fest in May. Watch a previous NBC4 report on Mama Duck's first Ohio visit in the video player above. What's included in Ohio's sales tax holiday for 2025 Mama Duck measures 61 feet high, 64 feet wide and 74 feet long, and first made her debut in 2014 to an audience of more than 250,000 in Los Angeles. Since then, she has appeared across the globe, making stops in New York, Chicago, Toronto and more to pose with adoring fans. 'The world's largest rubber duck's mission is to spread happiness and love wherever she goes, and a gentle reminder to enjoy our outdoor spaces wisely, preserving them for many generations to come,' Mama Duck's organizers said in a statement. Frequently accompanying Mama Duck is her 10-foot-tall baby duck, Timmy. However, Timmy is not expected to be joining his mother at Put-in-Bay. The inflatable duck's August visit is being made possible by the Perry Group, a nonprofit organization based on Put-in-Bay supporting Perry's Victory and the International Peace Memorial, the National Park Service site commemorating the Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812. BBQ joint seen on Food Network to open another central Ohio restaurant The Perry Group is organizing family-friendly games and activities to coincide with Mama Duck's appearance. Fans can also snag a $10 souvenir duck that says, 'Don't Give Up The Ship,' which is a naval battle cry that was written on the flag of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry's ship during the Battle of Lake Erie. Mama's other visits this summer have included several stops across Minnesota, an amusement park in Pennsylvania, a motor speedway event in Delaware, a festival in Maryland, a county fair in Washington and an air show in Virginia. As her organizers say, the world is her bathtub. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed. Man makes 'quackers' name-change after losing bet
A rubber duck racer has legally changed his name to something "quackers" after losing a fundraising bet with Caldwell was dared by his friend and fellow charity race organiser Curtis Lunt, in a bid to raise as much money as possible for Derian House Children's in order to spur them on, if the racers hit their £3,000 target Mr Caldwell pledged to legally change his name to Daniel "Rubber Duck" Caldwell by Deed 31-year-old, from Brinscall in Lancashire, said it had been costly to change the details on his driving licence and passport "but it's worth it". "The paperwork's all gone off, so I hope they don't say it can't be done, because if that's the case, we'll have to think of another name for me - and I know Curtis has got a few names that he does call me," Mr Caldwell told BBC Radio Lancashire. Their duck race at a stream between two bridges in the village is becoming an annual event each year they had 890 ducks taking part. The ducks are stamped with a number, dropped into Brinscall Goit, and the winner gets £250. Meet the undercover duck posing as a penguin for Waddle-on-Sea trail in Southend
Visitors exploring the Waddle-on-Sea trail across Southend may spot an odd one out among dozens of penguins. Quacky Feet, an undercover duck, has joined the Waddle-on-Sea huddle, an art trail in Southend, posing as a penguin. The trail, created by Havens hospices and Wild in Art, is showcasing 31 large penguin sculptures and 72 baby sculptures throughout Southend, including Leigh, until September 3. Among the 72 baby sculptures is the adventurous rubber duck, Quacky Feet, crafted by Sarah Nash, director of finance at Waddle-on-Sea's presenting partner company, Ipeco Holdings Ltd. The unique sculpture is hand-decorated to resemble a penguin, featuring thousands of small gems. Mama Duck, duckling Timmy on display at Idlewild and SoakZone
This weekend, you may want to shake a tail feather and get out to Idlewild Park, because for the first time since 2013, the world's largest rubber duck has returned to the Pittsburgh area. Mama Duck, along with Timmy, her smaller duckling, will be on display at Idlewild for all to see through Sunday. Mama stands at 61 feet tall, the equivalent of about six stories. She has been floating around the world for years and is excited for her weekend meet and greet in Westmoreland County. "We were super excited to welcome it back to western Pennsylvania," said Hannah Brinker from Latrobe. "My kids now are so happy to see it. They weren't around for the first time, and Charlotte and Steven, who are 2 and 5, are super excited to welcome it back." Mama is nesting comfortably on the ball field next to Raccoon Lagoon in the park. Her 10-foot-tall duckling, Timmy, plans to be a bit more mobile over the weekend and could pop up anywhere from right next to his mother to floating in the pool at the SoakZone. Jeff Croushore, Director of Marketing at Idlewild, says that while Mama Duck loves the water and there is a pond she could float in at the park, they opted to have the duck on their ball field to be more accessible to guests. "Being on the field," Croushore said, "families can go right up to the duck and can get selfies and pictures and great family photos that they will look back on for decades." It would appear that Idlewild is cracking the code to guest happiness this weekend. In the first hour alone that the park was open on Friday, hundreds of guests stopped by to visit with Mama Duck and Timmy. The first two guests were Shawn and Wanda Clemens from Hempfield Township, who said they have been looking forward to this for a while. "We missed it when it was in Pittsburgh, so we figured we better get out here and see it now," Wanda said. "Yeah," said Shawn. "It is bigger than what I thought it was. Bring your children out here to see it. It's unbelievable." The duck is a special event this weekend at Idlewild Park, but you don't need a special ticket to see it. You only need a general admission ticket. For tickets and more information on the world's largest rubber duck at Idlewild, click here.
