Jennifer Lawrence Just Joined Kylie Jenner in Endorsing Summer's Biggest Trend
What's a gal with a fabulous scarf collection to do during these hot, humid months? Enter Jennifer Lawrence, who is all in on repurposing the versatile silk scarf for summer. Today, Lawrence and her husband Cooke Maroney, were spotted walking arm-in-arm in New York City. The actor, who has a well-documented love of tomato red (transcending baseball caps, jelly flats, and handbags alike) opted for a brightly colored T-shirt, lending a pop of color to an otherwise-neutral look. On the bottom, Lawrence wore a pair of flowing white trousers with black leather slides. Diamond / BACKGRIDUSA An expert accessorizer, Lawrence has finally hopped aboard the scarf skirt trend, trying a beige silk scarf with black trim and a surreal checkerboard print around her hips. She isn't the only one who is embracing the asymmetrical overskirt. In April, Chloë Sevigny, wore a Vaquera number that, while not a 1:1 comparison, helped kickstart the scarf-as-skirt trend again. Soon after, Alexa Chung traipsed through the streets of London, a brown Gucci scarf tied around her waist. Meanwhile, in Tuscany earlier this month, Kylie Jenner coordinated hers to her floral bikini top. With Jennifer Lawrence joining this list of stylish women, we'll call that another ringing endorsement for the scarf skirt.

Kylie Jenner Gets Tied Up in the Summer's Biggest Emerging Trend
After a long weekend in Venice for the Bezos-Sánchez wedding, Kylie Jenner decided to stay in the proverbial neighborhood to unwind from the sheer opulence of it all. (After all, her PJ is already there.) Jenner headed to Tuscany, where she embraced the dolce vita lifestyle with her fashion. Today, she opted for a light brown tie-back, spaghetti-strap bikini top printed with delicate white flowers, which she paired with white low-slung pants. Leaning into the East-West bag silhouette du jour, Jenner carried a black Alaïa Le Teckel bag over her shoulder. DWS / BACKGRIDUSA While her bag has been on-trend for the last several months, Jenner is an early adopter of the scarf skirt, which is shaping up to be a defining look of the summer. (Alexa Chung and Alessandra Ambrosio are also fans.) Across her hips, she tied a floral silk scarf with pops of light pink and chartreuse, which matched her bikini top. But the scarf, as Jenner reminded us, is versatile. At one point during her outing, she shielded herself from the sun—and the paparazzi—by tying her scarf over her head. While traipsing through an Italian villa may or may not be in the cards this summer, take a cue from Kylie Jenner's vacation wardrobe and add a scarf skirt into your rotation.

As soon as I feel the first rays of sun hit my pasty skin after a long, blustery winter, I'm immediately struck by a primal urge to get rid of all of my clothes and start my closet afresh. It goes without saying that this is not sustainable—environmentally or financially. But this year, I've finally found a styling trick that keeps that desire at bay. Enter: the scarf skirt. Recently, celebrities have been sporting silk scarves around their waists, be it as a skirt or over a pair of pants. Chloë Sevigny, like the trendsetter that she is, kicked things off with a Vaquera scarf, worn slung around her hip with an asymmetrical hem. While Sevigny opted to show lots of leg, others prefer to wear theirs over trousers. On a walk through London, Alexa Chung offered an update on a simple white tee and businesslike gray trousers thanks to the brown Gucci scarf she wore over her pants. Alessandra Ambrosio had the same idea when she touched down at the Nice Airport ahead of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. I, for one, like to interrupt an all-black outfit with a colorful silk scarf. Meanwhile, my colleague Laia Garcia-Furtado, Vogue Runway's senior fashion news editor, channels her inner Alanis Morissette. 'I always bring all these scarves with me when I travel and usually they never get worn but suddenly I figured out they could help me channel what I like to call Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie vibes, or how Alanis dressed after she came back from India (thank you, India!),' she says. 'I don't think of them as a skirt per se, but they're definitely a more low-key way to do a skirt or dress over pants, which is at the core of it all.' So, for anyone feeling stuck in a fashion rut this summer, allow a scarf skirt to do the heavy lifting for you.
