'Peaky Blinders' Creator Reportedly Will Write Next James Bond Movie
Although the next James Bond movie will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, the actual script might be written by veteran British writer Steven Knight. And, if that name is familiar, it should be. Knight is not only the writer of movies like Dirty Pretty Things and Eastern Promises, but he's also the creator of the sensational crime drama, Peaky Blinders. Although not announced formally by Amazon MGM, Deadline has reported that "sources" are saying that "Steven Knight has been set to write the pic." If confirmed, this will almost certainly be good news for Bond fans. But, could Knight's resume give us a bigger hint as to what the movie is about? Steven Knight's movie and TV track record Until very recently, Knight was actually attached to write the next Star Wars film focused on Daisy Ridley's Rey, though, as someone who has been writing screenplays for several decades, the notion of changing projects is very common. But, in terms of Knight's biggest work, Peaky Blinders is probably the best indication of where he could take a James Bond film. At once violent, dramatic, and with a touch of elegance, Peaky Blinders arguably made Cillian Murphy into an even bigger star than he already was. And, the show also proved that British action-adventure and crime dramas don't always have to be set in the present. But, wait. What could that mean for Bond?Could the new James Bond be a period piece? Because of Knight's work on Peaky Blinders (and his work on the 2019 Christmas Carol), one might jump to the conclusion that the next Bond reboot film could be set in the past. In fact, the idea that the next James Bond reboot movie could be a period piece is a rumor that's been circulating for at least two years. Recently, Andor creator Tony Gilroy even mentioned that a historical Bond was something he and Steven Soderbergh attempted decades ago, and that he believed it was possible that the plan for the next Amazon-produced Bond was similar to he and Soderbergh 1960s throwback that never happened. "It sounds to me very much like what they're doing now," Gilory said. A James Bond movie set in the 1960s would be one thing, but perhaps the more interesting move here would be if Steven Knight went back to the actual beginning of James Bond: the 1950s. If Villeneuve and Knight are doing a direct adaptation of one Ian Fleming's novels, then a historical Bond movie set in, say, 1953, would be incredible. In fact, it would be the one thing that the franchise has never done, not once: A period-accurate adaptation of one of Fleming's original books. Could Knight and Villeneuve make it happen? If so, the next era for James Bond might be the realization of Fleming's dream, seven decades later.'Peaky Blinders' Creator Reportedly Will Write Next James Bond Movie first appeared on Men's Journal on Jul 31, 2025 Solve the daily Crossword

My Lovely Journey – K-drama Episode 2 Recap & Review
The First Step Episode 2 of My Lovely Journey begins with O Sang-sik heading home and crossing paths with aspiring director (and last episode's editor in-suite) Lee Yeon-seok. Unfortunately, he's been let go after outing Song's behaviour, but he's working on a film script on the side. Sang-sik is intrigued and wants to see the script, but they're interrupted by Yeo Reum showing up. These are scenes we missed last episode, contextualizing what made her choose to leave in the first place. She shows up at the café, speaks to Sang-sik, and asks to leave with the camera and Manager Hwang for styling and make-up. While Sang-sik inflicts his tough love outside, Yeon-seok watches all of this transpire from inside. He likens them to a father/daughter dynamic, and can see the pain with both of them after this argument. In the past, Yeo Reum was a bright girl and always aspired to do more. When she promised her father she'd get a boat to Seoul and do more with her life, he told her never to come home until she's a success. Yeo Reum left Hwado and immediately found life punching her in the mouth. Teary-eyed, she phones phone at a booth, pleading with her dad to let her return but he refused, telling her to stick it out. This gives more weight to Sang-sik's words too, as she eventually finds herself facing that same crossroads again here, needing to stick it out and try to find her way. Inside the envelope she's given a ticket to Makpo but at the station, she winds up talking to a woman who recognizes the beads on her bracelet. They get talking about Buyeo and Yeo Reum eventually decides to go there. The sweet old lady explains that she needs to go to Daejeon first then transfer to a bus heading over to Buyeo. Alternatively, she can get a bus leading right there but it does take a while. She chooses the latter, and starts to get into the rhythm of her first trip. At the bus station, Janghang, the place is lashing it down with rain so she takes refuge in the nearby convenience store. We cut across to Sang-sik inthe middle of this though, who's shocked and panicked when he finds out Yeo Reum hasn't gone home. Yeo Reum's phone has run out of charge, and inside the shop, asks the cashier to charge her phone. However, the guy recognizes her and snaps her photo, uploading it online. She's also quite clumsy and spills her noodles on the floor, bringing more attention to herself. When the cashier asks whether she's a former idol, Yeo Reum gets spooked and hurries out the room. She winds up in a restaurant where the owner cooks her a delicious meal. However, its here where she realizes she's left her phone behind in the shop. Yeon-seok rings the shop and worries the cashier, warning not to take the phone or steal it as he has location tracking and can see precisely what he's doing. However, as fate would have it, his grandma actually owns the restaurant that Yeo Reum is in! What are the odds! When the grandma notices her prayer bead bracelet, she mentions how the knots are tied in a familiar way over at Muryangsa Temple. She encourages Yeo Reum to go take a look, but on her way out, her grandson cheekily manages to get her number too. Yeo Reum gets into the swing of things here, taking photos and videos for Kate as she walks through the Muryangsa trail. Although its only been one day, she's already starting to feel more confident in herself and liberated with this newfound freedom. However, things take an awkward turn when she notices Kate show up, speaking Korean, and telling her she can't take photos. It's all very weird, especially as she tries to chase after her and she disappears. Yeo Reum ends her trip, where Sang-sik is there to greet her. He reprimands her, scolding Yeo Reum for not listening to him. He explains that she needs to keep fighting but also to understand when a door closes, another opens and she can switch up and try something else. As long as she doesn't throw the towel in, she can keep finding her purpose. The Episode Review So My Lovely Journey closes out its debut weekend with a decent couple of episodes. There's nothing particularly outstanding about this drama just yet, but there's enough in this to stick with for the time being. The premise is very much centering around Yeo Reum's healing journey, and even seeing her start to enjoy the nature and become more in tune with her own surroundings and feelings is a nice way of capturing what a solo trip can do for you. However, beyond that there's not too much to cling to right now. This is a super chill and quite low-stakes drama, all things considered. We still don't have much more context around Eun-chae, and we don't know why Kate has decided that Yeo Reum should head out on this trip either. With only 10 episodes to play with, lets hope we get some answers in the episodes ahead. Previous Episode Next Episode Expect A Full Season Write-Up When This Season Concludes!

Peaky Blinders creator to write next Bond film
Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight will write the script for the next James Bond film. Amazon made the announcement amid its takeover of the iconic British spy franchise from Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson. Members of the Broccoli family had controlled the franchise since the first 007 film, Dr No, in 1962, before the lucrative deal was signed off. The new venture has sparked fears among James Bond fans of an 'Americanisation' of the iconic films. In June it was announced that Dune's Denis Villeneuve will direct the film, which will be produced by Amy Pascal and David Heyman via Pascal Pictures and Heyday Films, respectively. The pair consistently maintained that they would secure a director and develop a screenplay before casting the next super spy. In 2022, Amazon acquired MGM, including the rights to distribute James Bond films. The official Bond film franchise had been controlled by members of the Broccoli family since Cubby Broccoli and Harry Saltzman bought the rights to Ian Fleming 's spy novels in 1961 and set up the British studio Eon Productions in London. There has been speculation about who will take up the mantle of Bond after Daniel Craig 's final portrayal in 2021's No Time to Die. After the deal was announced, Jeff Bezos, Amazon's founder, reacted to the news by sharing a post on Instagram asking his followers: 'Who'd you pick as the next Bond?' Idris Elba and Henry Cavill were the most popular suggestions. While the next Bond remains a mystery, Knight has now been confirmed as the next film's scriptwriter. The 65-year-old is most famous for creating Peaky Blinders but was also one of the three founders of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? He is also the creator of historical drama series A Thousand Blows, BBC's This Town and Netflix mini-series All The Light We Cannot See. Knight is also executive producer on the new series, Built In Birmingham: Brady And The Blues, which follows Birmingham City Football Club and key ownership figures, including former NFL quarterback Tom Brady and US businessman Tom Wagner. His upcoming projects include Netflix's Peaky Blinders film and historical drama series House Of Guinness. In the 2020 New Year Honours list, Knight was made a CBE for services to drama, entertainment and the community in Birmingham – the setting for Peaky Blinders, which stars Cillian Murphy as hard-drinking gang leader Tommy Shelby. Previously, Broccoli and Wilson were responsible for choosing the actor to play Bond while also overseeing the scripts and production. Last year, a behind-the-scenes feud was reported involving Broccoli, who voiced concern about Amazon's plans for 007. She believed Amazon was run by 'f---ing idiots' who were more concerned about algorithm-driven 'content' than film-making, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Benicio del Toro was stopped on flight due to The Phoenician Scheme script
Benicio del Toro was almost prevented from boarding a flight due to the script from his latest movie The Phoenician Scheme. The Usual Suspects star plays the lead in Wes Anderson's latest movie - whose plot, which features his character surviving an aeroplane bombing. Reading his lines, however, almost got Benicio detained by agents from America's Transportation Security Administration (TSA) after they took the script far too literally. "I had the script in my carryon, I'm in Boston and I'm flying to LA," he said on Late Night with Seth Meyers. "And for some reason, I had my computer in there, and I didn't take it out, so the TSA people, they just said, 'Hey, we need to check your bag.' 'Sure.' He opens the bag, he looks into it-and I take my scripts and I make the headings bigger, so I can get to it really quick. "The opening scene is 'Interior Airplane: Bomb'. The second scene is 'Interior Cockpit: Eject the Pilot' and the third scene is 'Crash.' The guy, he's reading it. I go, 'It's a film script.' And he looks at me and goes, (holding up his finger), and he closes the thing and walks out. Five TSA guys come over and they hover around the script, and they're looking at it and looking at it." However, before the actor was detained for a ficticious bomb plot, an agent recognised him and waved him through. "Finally, the supervisor showed up and he walked in and he looked at me, and I think he recognised me, maybe from (Benicio's past films) Sicario or Traffic, and he just sat there and looked at it and they let me go," the star continued. He said there are no hard feelings towards his interrogators, adding: "I give that guy a thumbs up because he was paying attention."
