PSA: Stranger Things fans are not happy about this season 5 detail
Stranger Things fans, we have some good news and some bad. Last night, Netflix hosted its annual Tudum event, which celebrates all things on the streaming platform, plus shares exclusives from its biggest shows. As we all know, Stranger Things is one of them, so it was the perfect place for a few exciting announcements. From a brief sneak peek of what's to come in season five, a highlight reel of some of the most memorable moments from past episodes, and a cameo from Millie Bobby Brown, aka Eleven, Netflix also revealed when fans can expect to catch the new series. And this is where the mixed news comes in. While the platform did announce that the new episodes are just around the corner, they also shared that they'll be dropping in three parts. Yep, you heard that right: THREE. The first will enter the void on November 26, the second will follow on Christmas Day, and the last will be released on New Year's Eve. Basically, that's bad news for anyone who loves to binge-watch a series and hates waiting for episodes to drop in instalments. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Stranger Things Netflix (@strangerthingstv) Following the news, fans of the show have taken to social media to share their frustration, with many sharing funny memes to express their disappointment. "Stranger Things season 5 is three parts??? absolutely not," one person said, as another penned: "You're telling me the 4th season of Stranger Things came out in 2022, the final season is coming out in Fall of this year, and Netflix has the nerve to split it up in THREE PARTS?!?!?!?" Elsewhere, someone else echoed: "THE LAST SEASON OF STRANGER THINGS IS BEING SPLIT INTO THREE PARTS ARE YOU KIDDING ME," while a fourth screamed: "Stranger Things s5 broken up into three parts this just isn't serious." Stranger Things is currently streaming on Netflix. ‘Stranger Things' Season 5 Gets Three Release Dates, First Trailer
Stranger Things Netflix As part of Netflix's big self-congratulatory preview show, TUDUM, the live showcase just revealed the long-awaited release date for Stranger Things season 5, its final season. Or rather release dates, plural. Netflix has been doing this with all its biggest shows recently, but this time it's a triple-header. The last break is a bit for suspense rather than anything else, but here's the list: That release time is simultaneous all over the world so you can translate it into whatever your time zone is. Some of you will have to skip the ball drop, I guess. Stranger Things season 5 was promised to come out in 2025, and it's just making it by the skin of its teeth. It is no great shock that it's broken up. It almost invented this practice when the back end of season 4 was delayed due to apparent VFX-finalizing issues. But then Netflix just started doing it all the time, presumably to keep subscriptions running for two months at least rather than just a binge and dump for a single show. Though lately, they've scaled the practice back at least a little bit. But not for Wednesday season 2, and not for Stranger Things' final season here. The reveal also came with a new trailer for season 5 which you can check out below: So I mean, sort of a new trailer. Half of it is flashbacks to old seasons, but there is some initial season 5 footage in there showing a lot of scariness and one very intense line delivery at the end. It has been a stunning amount of time since Stranger Things season 4 released in May of 2022, so that kind of refresher is warranted (a running TV joke is that all four seasons of The Bear will have come out before Stranger Things season 5 is out). Netflix no doubt expects this to be one of its biggest launches of all time, if not its biggest period, but it may have to dual with Wednesday season 2, and that show is only just getting started. So, it's good we have a release date, unsurprising that it's broken into these pieces and I mean, hey, I'll be there. It's been a decade-long ride, so why stop now? ‘Stranger Things' Returns for One Last Time This This November
Get ready to return to Hawkins, Indiana one final time. After three years of waiting since the end of season four, Netflix has confirmed that Stranger Things' final season will begin this November, kicking off a trio of releases. Netflix closed out its Tudum livestream event today with a brief tease for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, confirming that the series will return to the streamer this November 26, with a second volume arriving on Christmas day, and the final episode on New Year's Day. Check out a new teaser below, which mostly comprises footage from the last four seasons… and a tiny glimpse of season 5. It's been a long road to learn even a little more about what we can expect out of the eight episodes that will bring an end to the supernatural streaming sensation. Netflix already confirmed most of the episode titles last year, and most of what we've heard about the season is that the series is going to be taking the long way around to its end, with blockbuster-length episodes bringing about one last adventure for Eleven and the kids to go through in their quest to stop Vecna and the Upside Down invading reality. We'll bring you more from Stranger Things' final season as and when we learn it.

Matthew McConaughey And Woody Harrelson Could Reunite For More ‘True Detective'
True Detective HBO True Detective has been a bizarre adventure in serialization, the first season being one of the best detective stories put to television, and the others being a rollercoaster of quality culminating in the recent True Detective: Night Country, which formed some tenuous links to season 1. But those links could bear fruit. True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto told the Nothing Left Unsaid podcast that there's an idea that may reunite Matthew McConaughey's Rust Cohle and Woody Harrelson's Marty Hart. And the actors are open to the idea. 'I actually have another story for Cohle and Hart that — who knows? — maybe we'll do it one day,' Pizzolatto said. 'It's character-based again. … But it's not something I've written or anything. It's just, I had that in my head. And we've talked about getting back together and doing it, and I think the guys are open to it. It's just a question of whether that would ever happen or not.' So, would this potentially be season 5 of True Detective? No, it wouldn't. It may not be broad knowledge, but season 5 is already greenlit with Night Country's showrunner Issa López back for more. So, if this Cohle and Hart season did exist, we would likely not see it for years, especially if it's still in the concept phase. We do not have a release window for López's season 5 at this point either, though no doubt that's further along. True Detective HBO The series has spanned a decade now, which has produced four seasons. There was a very short gap between seasons 1 and 2, a year and a half, before switching to 4-5 year gaps to get to season 3 and season 4. As for what the new Cohle and Hart storyline would be, Pizzolato does not go into that here. Night Country featured Rust Cohle's father and had the 'spiral' mythology return, but that was about it. Season 1 ended without the 'bad guys' getting taken down in full, the large-spanning, abusive cult. Presumably, this would have to be a story taking place in their later years, as I'm trying to imagine how more flashbacks would work, but who knows. One thing that I think was missing from all the other seasons of True Detective was director Cary Joji Fukunaga. Pizzolatto only seems like one part of the puzzle, but it was Fukunaga's direction that rounded out the season and made it what it was. And you can feel his absence in the other, lesser seasons. Fukunaga went on to direct shows like Masters of the Air and Maniac, and films like No Time to Die and Beasts of No Nation. It's unclear if it would be possible to get him to return, not just the actors. I would certainly be interested to see where this project could go, but if it does happen, it seems like it would be a long, long way off. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram. Everything Released In The Gap Between ‘Stranger Things' Seasons 4 And 5
Stranger Things Stranger Things season 5 will finally arrive later this year, albeit halfway through 2025 now, we still don't have an exact date. We have now waited over three years between seasons, even as Netflix said that the series was a 'priority' for them following previous strikes. Other big shows with huge waits such as Squid Game and Wednesday, will both be out before it will. Stranger Things season 4 was released on May 27 of 2022. I saw a post that said that the entire series of The Bear has aired between now and then (and season 4 is coming in a month). That got me thinking about what else has happened in the entertainment industry between seasons 4 and 5 in this absurdly long streaming season gap era. Shows: Wednesday, House of the Dragon (both seasons), The Last of Us (both seasons), The Penguin, Shogun, The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power (both seasons), The Bear (all seasons) House of the Dragon Movies: Top Gun Maverick, The Batman, Avatar: The Way of Water, Everything Everywhere All At Once, Jurassic World: Dominion, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and 3, Barbenheimer The Batman Games: Elden Ring, Horizon Forbidden West, God of War Ragnarök, Tears of the Kingdom, Baldur's Gate 3, Sifu, Immortality, Starfield, Final Fantasy XVI, Hogwarts Legacy Horizon Forbidden West Nine MCU Movies: Thor: Love and Thunder, Black Panther, Wakanda Forever, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Marvels, Deadpool and Wolverine, Captain America Brave New World, Thunderbolts and imminently, The Fantastic Four. Nine MCU Shows: Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, Secret Invasion, Loki (season 2), What If…? (season 2), Echo, Agatha All Along, Daredevil: Born Again, Ironheart (imminent) She Hulk Four DCEU Movies: Black Adam, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Flash and Blue Beetle, and the transfer to the DCU and James Gunn with Superman Eight Star Wars Shows: Andor (seasons 1 and 2), The Mandalorian (season 2), The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka, Tales of the Jedi (season 2), The Acolyte, Skeleton Crew (no Star Wars movies, however, with Disney abandoning those for years). You get the idea. We are going to be pushing three and a half years between Stranger Things seasons, which allegedly come out in 2025, but with no confirmed date yet, it might get pushed, and even if not, it may be broken into parts where one of those potentially airing in 2026. At this point, it will almost be a relief to see it end, and Netflix had better issue an hour-long 'previously on' recap video. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, Bluesky and Instagram.
