1 person airlifted to hospital after boat crash at North Vancouver's Cates Park

A person has been airlifted to hospital in serious condition after a boating incident at Cates Park in North Vancouver Saturday evening. North Vancouver RCMP say emergency crews are responding to a "serious boat collision" and the boat launch, known as Whey-ah-Wichen, has been closed while they investigate. Police are asking the public to avoid the area. The park is located at the eastern end of Dollarton Highway, along the Burrard Inlet shoreline. District of North Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services confirmed crews are on scene and urged people to stay away. B.C. Emergency Health Services says it received a call around 6:37 p.m. and responded with eight units, including a helicopter and the infant care team. One patient was flown to hospital in serious condition, the BCEHS confirmed. CBC News has reached out to the North Vancouver RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service for more information. More to come.

A man is in a serious condition in hospital following an incident close to the Irish border in Co Armagh. Police have issued an appeal for information following a report that the man sustained serious head injuries in the vicinity of the Edenappa Road close to Jonesborough in the early hours of Saturday. ​ Three men were arrested and questioned about the incident. Advertisement A police spokesperson said: 'The man is currently in hospital in a serious condition as inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident continue. 'Three men aged 27, 34 and 42, were arrested in connection with the investigation but have all been released on bail to allow for further inquiries to be conducted. ​ 'Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone with CCTV or other footage that could assist with the investigation is asked to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference CW 35 31/05/25.'

A 37-year-old is in serious condition after an argument led to a shooting and crash Sunday night in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood. The shooting happened around 10 p.m. in the 500 block of East 75th Street. According to Chicago police, the victim was arguing with an unknown man on the sidewalk. After the victim was leaving the scene in a silver SUV, he drove past the unknown man, who pulled out a handgun and fired gunshots at the vehicle, hitting the victim twice in the leg and once in the arm. The victim's SUV eventually stopped hitting a building. Fire crews treated the victim, and he was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious condition. No arrests were made as of Monday. Area 2 detectives are investigating.

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Two moped riders are in serious condition following a crash in the Ala Moana area on the afternoon of May 17. According to the Honolulu Police Department, a 20-year-old female operator and an 18-year-old female passenger were on a moped traveling southbound on Keʻeaumoku Street when the driver of the bike lost her balance. While the two were in the street, they were both struck by a 21-year-old female motorist in the adjacent lane, HPD said. The two moped riders were taken to an area hospital in serious condition. Police say the passenger of the moped worsened to critical to authorities, the 20-year-old was wearing a helmet, while the 18-year-old was not wearing one. The 21-year-old woman stayed at the scene and was not injured as a result of the incident.
