Frankie Bridge slammed by fans again for SHEER wedding guest dress that's ‘too much' and will ‘upstage the bride'
FRANKIE Bridge has been slammed by fans yet again after showing off a sheer dress she plans to wear to her friend's wedding. Not only did people warn her not to 'upstage the bride ', but others described the red frock as 'too much'. 4 The 36-year-old took to social media to show off two dress options, one of which is the Crinkle Cross Front Georgette Woven Maxi Dress from Karen Millen. But the jaw-dropping frock, which ranges from a size 6 to a 16, doesn't come cheap, as it has an eye-watering price tag of £169. Posting on her 'Faves' account, which has been hailed as 'your fave destination for shoppable edits', the TV beauty tried on the floor-length gown, which she styled with a white clutch bag. The mum-of-two who is married to football legend Wayne Bridge, 44, gave viewers a close-up look at the dress, which according to Karen Millen bosses will ensure you make an 'unforgettable entrance.' But just days after the Saturdays singer was slammed by fans for another another wedding guest outfit option, Frankie said: 'I am going to one of my friend's weddings and I'm trying to decide what to wear - I thought I'd get you to help me.' Impressed with the halterneck dress which has cross-front detailing, the Loose Women star explained: 'Quietly obsessed with this dress because I feel like it's something I would never normally wear. 'First of all, it's quite a bright colour and we all know that I love a nude. 'I just love this. It's not a cape, but I like that whole vibe, it makes me feel really fancy. 'But also, if you don't like your arms, it's a really good shape for you. You don't feel completely covered up.' Clearly overjoyed with the open back dress, which has been described online as 'perfect for weddings, formal galas or black-tie events', Frankie continued: 'It's subtle, it's pretty, it's quite girly. Watch as Frankie Bridge accuses TikTok star of 'backhanded compliment' 'It's sheer, which is a trend at the moment.' Showing off the layers of the sophisticated dress, which according to the retailer 'reflects timeless elegance' and 'conveys sophistication while ensuring you stand out for all the right reasons', the brunette beauty recognised: 'A lot of layers, quite a lot going on. "But I feel like for a whole day at a wedding, it's really comfortable.' Moments later, Frankie then tried on another dress, which left her less than impressed. 4 As she posed in the baby blue dress, which was also sheer and floor-length, the influencer explained: 'You know when you think you're gonna like something you see online and you see it hanging up and you think, 'oh, she's cute, she's different'. No, no. 'I'm gonna have to wear the first one, which I actually like. 'Someone might like [this]. Just not me.' Wedding Guest Outfit Etiquette If you're struggling to decided on a dress to see you through wedding season, here's a few rules on what not to wear so you don't get in trouble. Folklore says that wearing red at a wedding means you slept with the groom. Casual attire like jeans and flip flops should always be avoided. Any colour that could be picked up as white or cream - even if it's not. Most would agree that your cleavage needs to be covered. Wearing white is a massive no-no if you're not the bride. Fashion fans react The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @ favestheedit, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 145,200 views. Not only this, but it's also amassed 1,401 likes and 138 comments. But while many fashion fans thought the red dress looked 'beautiful' and 'stunning', many advised Frankie to steer clear of wearing it to a wedding. One person said: 'I was hoping for a third. The red one is too much going on and doesn't have much shape, just lots of red material. Second one... immediately no.' Alongside a crying emoji, another added: 'You'll upstage the bride.' A third commented: 'Personally I wouldn't wear red to a wedding, nor white or black. It is nice though.' Meanwhile, someone else warned: 'You look stunning in the red dress but you may get more attention than the bride so be mindful!' At the same time, another woman slammed: 'You will stand out in the photos a lot.'

It featured a deep scooped neck that was lined with thick black fabric and revealed her high-waisted black underwear below. She paired the playful dress with a long silver pendant necklace, dangly silver earrings, silver cuff bracelets, and a new '70s-style blowout with curtain bangs by hairstylist Ursula Stephen—a notable change from her natural curls. Cara Delevingne's sheer dress and the trend for going bare down there
Last night saw the model Cara Delevingne making a return to the red carpet after a significant hiatus in her signature provocative style. While attending the London premiere of David Attenborough's latest documentary film, Ocean, at the Royal Festival Hall, the model and actress chose a silver mesh dress. So far, so Cara. Yet there was one surprising detail of this look – the clever trompe l'oeil embroidery detailing where her knickers would be. 'We have Kate Moss back in the 1990s to thank for the super sheer dress over a black knicker look,' explains red carpet stylist Catherine Hayward. 'It's risqué; it's revealing. And, of course, it helps if you have a trim figure. But with a chic tailored dark jacket thrown nonchalantly over the top, everything 'important' is covered. It's implied rather than overt sexiness. She looks confident and that's always attractive.' Cara's look was perhaps a more palatable way of tapping into a trend that has been everywhere of late: a sheer entrejambe (or less romantically, crotch). Unsurprisingly, it was prevalent on Monday's Met Gala red carpet. After all, the first Monday in May often heralds an influx of sheer dresses. Indeed, some of the most famous gowns in its history have been so-called 'naked dresses', from Cher's 1974 Bob Mackie creation (often credited as the first naked dress), to Beyoncé 's jaw-dropping Givenchy bodysuit in 2015 and Kim Kardashian 's diamond-dripping Mugler design in 2019. This year's iteration was no different, yet it was the sheer knickers that raised eyebrows. In some ways, it's no surprise. After all, in recent seasons, we've had the trend for sheer skirts with visible big knickers making its way onto the red carpet. Kick-started by Valentino, Yves Saint Laurent and Chloé, it has been championed by A-listers including Florence Pugh, Dua Lipa and Victoria Beckham. Yet this year's red carpet didn't showcase Bridget Jones-esque bloomers through a mesh skirt – it put lacy knickers front and centre, or indeed, no knickers at all. One of the most controversial looks of the evening was that worn by K-pop star Lisa, of Blackpink fame, recently catapulted to even further global stardom thanks to her breakout role in the third season of The White Lotus. Wearing a piece custom-made by one of the night's co-chairs, Pharrell Williams at Louis Vuitton, her black beaded crop jacket with tights and pants probably wouldn't have caused much of a stir if it wasn't for what was embroidered onto her knickers: the face of civil rights activist Rosa Parks. Going one step further was the actress Halle Berry, who forewent underwear on her lower half altogether. Her daring LaQuan Smith gown featured sheer vertical stripes, which meant that whenever she moved, she risked showing more than she perhaps wanted to, drawing outrage from commenters online who deemed her look offensive and disappointing. In many ways, the evolution of the sheer trend is unsurprising. After all, fashion has always sought to find new ways to shock – as well as to highlight women's body parts. It's why corsets were so popular in the 17th and 18th centuries, or why an ankle was considered the height of erotica in the Victorian period. In more recent history, we've had Alexander McQueen's bumster jeans, Tom Ford for Gucci 's G-string, and even the posterior-peekaboo in Zoe Kravitz's Yves Saint Laurent dress at the Vanity Fair Oscars party. To provoke is fashion's raison d'être – particularly on a red carpet. And it's worked, hasn't it? That's why we're talking about it now.
