My skin was so dull but I found the best toner to make it hydrated and glowy, you won't find it in the beauty aisle

A WOMAN has shared how she got her skin from dull to glowy with a secret ingredient. Callere took to social media to show off the secret toner, but it wasn't something you'd find in the beauty aisle. 2 2 In the clip, she said: "When you stay consistent and your toner didn't fail you. "A year long, and it's still kicking in." Callere shared her skin before she started using the secret treatment and it was clear it looked dull and lacked moisture. But now, her skin looked bright and more youthful after applying the toner day and night. While many head to the beauty aisle to pick up a toner, Callere made her own at home using rice. She cleaned the rice with water before letting it ferment and turning to a milky liquid. The starchy water left over from rice has been proven to help skin look its best. Rice water contains antioxidants and compounds like ferulic acid and allantoin, which can brighten the skin, reduce pigmentation, and even out skin tone. You can make rice water at home by allowing the rice to soak in water for up to an hour, and then straining it into a bottle. Skincare whizz urges beauty fans to hit high street store for £2.49 spray that works a treat to stop spots on hot days To take it to the next level, you can also ferment the rice water. Let the rice water sit at room temperature for 1-2 days. The fermentation process boosts the levels of antioxidants within the preparation, making it even more effective for skin brightening and healing. It can be stored in the fridge for up to one week. The clip went viral with over 4 million views on her TikTok account @ callmereen107 and people were quick to thank her for the skincare hack. One person wrote: "Finally, found my people who loves the efficiency of rice. For less hassle buy rice flour. You can use it as a mask, iced cubes." "Rice toner and aloe vera plant, effective," penned a third. Biggest skincare trends for 2025 Face The Future's Head of Clinic, Kimberley Medd, shared the five skincare trends predicted to take off in 2025. 1. Exosomes Exosomes are the buzzword for 2025, taking advanced skin regeneration to new heights. These micro-messengers signal skin cells to repair damage, boost collagen, and accelerate recovery, and they're a gamechanger for targeting ageing. 2. Streamlined Skincare The age of 12-step routines is fading as consumers shift to more intentional, multi-functional products. Streamlining skincare not only saves time but also reduces the risk of overloading your skin. In 2025, we'll see a rise in hybrid products that combine active ingredients for simplified, effective results. 3. Vegan Collagen Plant-based collagen will dominate the skincare world this year, providing a sustainable, ethical alternative to traditional animal-derived collagen. Expect vegan collagen in everything from moisturisers to serums. 4. The Rise Of AI AI is revolutionising the beauty landscape, making it possible for consumers to get truly personalised skincare solutions. In 2025, we predict a dramatic shift towards AI-powered tools that help people understand their skin on a deeper level. 5. Hair Loss Solutions - Hair loss is an issue that affects more men than we often realise, and it's no longer just something we're talking about behind closed doors. This year, expect to see a continued rise in demand for treatments that not only tackle hair loss but also nurture overall scalp health. Meanwhile a fourth said: "So this actually works?" Someone else added: "Thank you."

Men's summer skincare: Look good, feel great

Beauty Consultant Essential skincare routines for men When the sun is out it means outdoor activities and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the great weather, as well as many occasions and social gathering. However, the combination of heat and UV rays can take a toll on your skin, leading to sunburn, dehydration and premature ageing. For men who want to maintain healthy, protected and radiant skin throughout the summer months, a simple yet effective skincare routine is essential. Here's your guide to keeping your skin safe, hydrated and nourished all season long. 1. Gentle cleansing Sweat, dirt and excess oil can clog pores, leading to breakouts, irritation and a dull complexion. A proper cleansing routine is your first defense. However, that doesn't mean reaching for the harshest soap in the market. Instead, choose a gentle cleanser that works for your skin type How to Cleanse Properly: - Washing your face twice daily, using a gentle, sulphate-free cleanser to avoid stripping your face of its natural oils. - Exfoliating 2-3 times a week; a mild scrub or chemical exfoliant (like salicylic acid) helps remove dead skin cells and prevents ingrown hairs. - Showering after sweating — particularly postworkout or outdoor activities — helps rinse off sweat and reduce bacterial buildup. 2. Hydrating inside and out Hot weather and increased sweating can dehydrate your skin, leaving it dry and dull. Keeping your skin hydrated is essential to maintaining its elasticity and glow How to Stay Hydrated: - Drinking plenty of water; aim for at least 2-3 litres per day to flush out toxins and keep skin plump, it's simple and so cliché, but it makes all the difference! - Using a lightweight moisturiser because in summer you sweat more and your skin tends to become oily. So, if you use heavy creams in winter swap them for a gel-based or oil-free moisturiser with ingredients like hyaluronic acid or aloe vera to lock in moisture without greasiness. - Applying after-shave balm; as shaving can dry your skin or strip it from its natural oils. So use a soothing, alcohol-free aftershave to calm any irritation right away. 3. Sun protection, everday The most crucial step in skincare is sun protection. Sun rays or heat exposure without proper protection can cause sunburn, dark spots, hyperpigmentation and even increase the risk of skin cancer. How to Protect Your Skin: - Using a broad-spectrum SPF; choose a sunscreen with at least SPF 30 (SPF 50 would be ideal) that protects against both UVA and UVB rays and reapply every 2 hours. Sunscreen wears off, especially if you're sweating or swimming. - Keeping a travel-sized bottle with you will help you reapply on the go. - Don't skip days, UV rays penetrate clouds and windows, so apply sunscreen even when it's not sunny, or you are not leaving the house. - Wearing protective clothing and accessories. A cap, sunglasses and maybe lightweight long-sleeved shirts if you need that extra protection and body shield for your skin. 4. Don't dorget your lips and eyes The delicate skin around your lips and eyes is prone to sun damage and dehydration, you need to take care of them just like the rest of you face. How to Protect Them: - Use a lip balm with SPF to prevent chapped, burnt lips with a moisturising balm that contains sun protection. You can apply it before going to bed if you're worried about it showing. - Using an eye cream to reduce puffiness, dark circles and fine lines. - Wearing Sunglasses to protect the sensitive eye area from UV rays and reducing squinting which can cause wrinkles over time. 5. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle for healthy skin Skincare isn't just about products, your lifestyle plays a huge role. Skin-friendly summer habits: - Eating antioxidant-rich foods like berries, leafy greens and nuts helps fight sun damage. - Getting enough sleep; skin repairs itself overnight, so aim for 7-8 hours of quality sleep. - Limiting alcohol and caffeine as both can dehydrate your skin, but you can balance their effect by drinking extra water intake Taking care of your skin in summer doesn't have to be complicated. With simple steps and basic products, you can make a huge difference! So, this summer, make skincare a priority and enjoy the sunshine with confidenc and awareness! The Allure—and Pitfalls—Of a 'Caveman' Skincare Routine

While the phrase 'Caveman Skincare' may feel like an oxymoron—after all, if a caveman didn't have a wheel, he certainly wasn't thinking about salmon sperm facials—the idea behind the trend is eternal. When TikTok creator Tia Zakher announced to her followers she was no longer washing her face in the hopes of repairing a broken skin barrier, the viral moment caused many to wonder about its legitimacy (Zakher confirmed with People that this is no hoax; she did indeed go weeks without touching a face cleanser) and if it would actually work. Going the 'caveman skincare' route, to those in the know, means that one has completely stopped doing their skin routine. Yes: no sunscreen, no serums, no cleanser… not even a little spritz of water. Caveman epiphany: Most experts do not recommend this approach to restore your skin barrier—especially when it comes to skipping the cleansing part of your routine. It is imperative to wash your face to remove dirt, makeup, sunscreen, and other debris. Leaving those to build up on your skin can lead to bacteria and fungus that will create more skin problems. So for those who are considering going cavemen, may we instead suggest…a simple-but-effective beauty routine? 'In this day and age, when everything moves so quickly, we want something quick, easy that'll deliver results [and] is effective,' says David Kim, MD, board-certified dermatologist at NY Dermatology Group. 'I don't think [multi-steps] are necessary to get excellent results,' adds Hadley King, MD, a New York City-based board-certified dermatologist. The answer has to lie somewhere in the middle. What is the ideal basic skincare routine? If you're looking to get back to the basics, there is a safe and effective way to do so. Dr. Kim says that this is especially helpful for those who have sensitive skin, bad acne flare-ups, or perioral dermatitis. The non-negotiables, says Dr. King, are a gentle cleanser, a moisturizer that contains humectants, emollients, or occlusives, and sunscreen with SPF during the day. Serums, which contain active ingredients such as retinol or vitamin C to target specific skin concerns, can be considered optional depending on your needs. But you might be able to swap it for your moisturizer so you can get the most out of your minimal routine. 'There are so many good lightweight serums that can deliver hydration and brighten the skin. So I find it useful to use a cleanser, serum, and SPF. You can skip a moisturizer, especially in the summer,' says Dr. Kim.

Till this day, I still wake up with extremely dry skin between my eyebrows, and very few moisturizers can actually help keep that area hydrated all day long. One such formula comes from EltaMD in the form of their EltaMD AM Restore Moisturizer. This top-rated moisturizer is under $50 and can help protect and replenish your moisture barrier. The EltaMD AM Restore Moisturizer is designed to thicken your facial skin's epidermis and uses a blend of vitamin B3, hyaluronic acid, and caffeine, among other ingredients. It has many benefits apart from hydrating your skin. It also reduces redness, smooths skin texture, and improves skin tone and texture. It also reduces dark spots from UV damage and delivers visibly brighter skin, according to the brand. It's oil- and fragrance-free too, making this a great option for sensitive skin. All you need to do is apply pearl-sized dots to your skin after using your favorite serum. Then, massage it into your face gently using circular motions. From there, add a sunscreen to seal in the moisturizer, and you're good to go! EltaMD's products also come dermatologist-tested and recommended, so you know you're buying a quality product that's actually good for you. And while this is a daily morning moisturizer, you can also buy the PM version of the same if you need an extra boost of hydration as the day ends. EltaMD shoppers seem to love this product too, giving it a 4.6-star rating. 'Love this. I have sensitive, acne-prone skin and use this periodically if I am feeling dry. It does not cause breakouts and moisturizes well,' says one shopper. 'Lightweight and oil-free, perfect for daily use. Hydrates deeply without clogging pores – great for acne-prone or combo skin. Smooths and brightens the skin over time,' adds another reviewer. 'My daughter is an NP who specializes in skin care. She recommended this moisturizer and I just love it,' says a third. 'I love how this moisturizer has helped me recover my confidence, my skin is looking so good again,' says a fourth. Clearly, the EltaMD AM Restore Moisturizer has earned rave reviews from many and is a great product to replenish hydration over time. If you're struggling with dry, flaky skin, this is your one-stop solution, and under $50, it's a steal.
