Fight slander with stronger social media presence, Ramanan tells PKR
PKR's R Ramanan warned that if the party did not step up its efforts, whatever allegations the opposition threw at the government would be accepted as the truth by the public. JOHOR BAHRU : PKR vice-president R Ramanan has called on the party to strengthen its social media presence to effectively counter slander ahead of the next general election. Ramanan said one of the key issues the party needs to recognise is its weakness on social media. 'This is something we must take seriously. If we don't address it, we'll face serious problems in the next general election. 'Our biggest enemy is slander. We must always question what we see and hear,' he told the PKR congress here today. Ramanan, who is Sungai Buloh MP, said PKR was very active on social media when the party was part of the opposition. 'But once we became part of the government, we became complacent. We took it easy. Slander spreads easily,' he warned. He said if the party does not step up its efforts, whatever allegations the opposition throws at the government would be accepted as the truth by the public. 'For example, the government has given a lot of assistance to the Indian community. 'But the message isn't reaching the grassroots. The information just isn't getting through.' Just last week, Ramanan had to issue a clarification that the person he was seen giving money to in a viral video was actually an employee of his. The video clip, which was circulated widely, showed Ramanan handing over cash to an individual in front of a Pakatan Harapan office, implying it was meant to buy votes in the party election. He said the incident actually took place after the Selangor state election in 2023 and criticised the recent circulation of the video as a dirty political tactic by certain parties. The deputy entrepreneur and cooperative development minister also did not dismiss the possibility of more dirty tactics being employed by the opposition ahead of PKR's central leadership election held yesterday.

Seething Jordon Hudson breaks her silence after fresh footage of Bill Belichick's walk of shame emerges
Jordon Hudson has issued a furious response to the latest explosive reports about her romance with Bill Belichick, accusing ex-ESPN reporter Pablo Torre of 'slander' and 'defamation'. The 24-year-old has been in the eye of a storm over recent weeks amid a series of sensational claims about her relationship with the legendary NFL coach, 73. The revelations continued on Friday, when Torre released new Ring footage of a shirtless Belichick leaving an Airbnb following a getaway with Hudson in 2023. The ex-ESPN reporter also posted interviews with the Airbnb owners, who claimed they originally thought Belichick could be a 'drug dealer' and Hudson may be an 'escort'. The female owner also claimed Hudson made a crude sexual innuendo about the 73-year-old coach. But Hudson hit back on social media. In an alleged screenshot of her Instagram story - which is no longer on Hudson's page - the 24-year-old slammed Torre's reporting. 'Pablo Torre's "findings" have been nothing short of factually incorrect, slanderous, defamatory and targeted. Can y'all stop please giving credibility to this "reporter"?' she allegedly wrote. According to TMZ, Hudson also posted a screenshot of a text conversation - supposedly with the owner of the Airbnb. In one of the alleged messages, the 'owner' suggests that they are speaking to Hudson on the final night of her stay. In their conversation with Torre, however, the owners claimed to be 'legitimately worried' about Hudson because she stayed for only one night - despite booking for five The 24-year-old also took aim at the rental home owners on X. She sent a message to the official account of Airbnb, asking: 'How do you feel about Airbnb owners publicly distributing security footage and information about tenants / their stay?' In a statement to Torre said: 'I find it bizarrely appropriate, at this point, that Jordon Hudson would post that and then delete it. But to be perfectly clear: I stand by our reporting and the episodes we published.' The owners told him: 'We saw the Ring video in the morning not knowing who this was, but it was an older gentleman with a very young woman who checked in the night before.' The male owner recalled their conversation: 'She said "she's with this creepy old guy who's either her relative or a drug dealer" was the first thing (she thought). 'Because of the age discrepancy, you go: "He must be a freaking coke dealer..." That was her first reaction and then I started looking. I'm like: "That does look like Belichick."' 'She said she was a dancer. Something was off. It just didn't make sense,' they said, per Torre, who on Friday released a new clip of Belichick leaving the house carrying a satchel. Hudson went viral last month when she continuously interrupted Belichick's CBS interview In another audio clip, released by the ex-ESPN reporter, the owner of the rental claimed that Hudson used a graphic sexual innuendo to describe her relationship with Belichick when meeting her for the first time. 'As a new host I tried to make it a point to meet people, and I couldn't meet her right when she arrived. So I come off the golf course and we were just chatting about different things,' she is heard saying. 'That's when she said that she wanted to know how far Danvers was and I said, "Oh are you getting married?" And she said, "No I compete in pageants." 'I said, "We're members at the golf course, you should come and play with us. My friends have clubs they can lend you." She said she plays and she also said she prefers a men's senior shaft.'

Ramanan calls viral money video on PKR polls ‘dirty politics', explains that cash handed to own staff outside service centre
SHAH ALAM, May 17 — PKR vice-president candidate Datuk Seri R Ramanan has denied any wrongdoing following the circulation of a viral video allegedly showing him handing cash to another individual in front of a business premises. The Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives clarified that the video was an old recording and described it as a malicious slander resurfaced by irresponsible parties ahead of the party's elections. 'That happened after the Selangor state election. The place shown is right outside my service centre, and I was handing money to my own staff. If you look closely, the door clearly displays the Pakatan Harapan logo. So what's the issue? 'If we're willing to stoop to this level of dirty politics, it's very bad. This is slander... I hope those behind it learn a lesson. This is really bad,' he said when met after officiating the Tekun Nasional Basic Entrepreneurship Seminar here today. A 34-second video clip had gone viral showing Ramanan handing money to an individual in front of a premises before walking away. On the ongoing party polls, Ramanan, who is also PKR's deputy information chief, said that all candidates should campaign with decorum, refraining from insults or personal attacks, and instead focus on grassroots engagement. 'This is a party election, not a general election. We need to really connect with the grassroots, meet them in person, wherever they are and listen to their struggles, grievances and hopes,' he said. Ramanan also addressed backlash over a previous statement in which he expressed confidence that PKR could secure up to 80 seats in the 16th general election if Nurul Izzah Anwar wins the Deputy President post, saying that the remark had been misinterpreted. He explained that the figure was simply an optimistic target, inspired by Nurul Izzah's proven track record in leading the party to win 50 seats in GE14. 'It's a hope. So is it wrong to have hope?' he added. The PKR polls feature a head-to-head contest for the Deputy President post between Nurul Izzah and Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, while incumbent President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim remains unchallenged. PKR's National Congress, including the Angkatan Muda Keadilan and Women's wings, is scheduled to take place from May 22 to 24 in Johor Bahru, with central leadership elections held on May 23. — Bernama
