PETALING JAYA : Two Form 1 students pleaded guilty in the Kajang magistrates' court today with slapping a classmate at a shopping mall in Kajang last week, a video of which has been widely shared online. Berita Harian reported that the two 13-year-olds were charged before magistrate Fatin Dayana Jalil under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 with insulting behaviour, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code, which provides for a fine of up to RM100. They were accused of slapping a 13-year-old boy in a public place with the intent to provoke a breach of the peace. The proceedings were held behind closed doors due to the accused being underage. The prosecution was handled by deputy public prosecutor Siti Nur Alia Safri, while both the accused were represented by lawyer Lee Tee Kiat. The prosecution later offered bail of RM5,000 each, but the court set bail at RM500 each and set Sept 18 for the receipt of reports of conduct from the social welfare department before sentencing. It was previously reported that four Form 1 students were detained last Thursday for allegedly hitting a classmate at a shopping mall in Kajang the same morning. They were remanded for two days.

Two Form One boys plead guilty to slapping classmate at Kajang mall
KAJANG, Aug 6 — Two 13-year-old boys, both in Form One at a secondary school here, pleaded guilty in the Magistrate's Court here today to a charge of slapping a classmate at a shopping mall. They made the plea after the charge was read out to them before Magistrate Fatin Dayana Jalil. Since the two boys, who were accompanied by their parents, are minor offenders, the proceeding was held in camera. The court set September 18 to hear the probationary report on the two boys by the Social Welfare Department (JKM) before sentencing them. The two boys were jointly charged with behaving indecently by slapping the victim, who is also 13 years old, in a public place to disturb the peace at a shopping mall near here, at 11am on July 30. They were charged under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code. The boys, represented by lawyer Lee Tee Kiat, were allowed bail of RM500 each with one surety. Deputy Public Prosecutor Siti Nur Alia Safri appeared for the prosecution. — Bernama
