Arsenal to wear new League Cup winner badge this season

The League Cup has introduced new sleeve badges this season to recognise the number of times a club has won the competition. Photo via Following in the footsteps of the FA Cup, the EFL have confirmed that new sleeve badges are being introduced this season to recognise successes in the League Cup. Most sleeve badges will be in green, with the exception of Newcastle United's, which will be gold to mark the fact they're the current holders of the trophy. The badges will then display a number, equivalent to the number of times that team has won the trophy. So Newcastle will have the number 1, Arsenal will have the number 2 (for 1987 and 1993), and so on. PhotoAs mentioned, the FA already introduced the same system for the FA Cup a few years ago. Arsenal were the first club to wear the special silver badge as the then-holders of the trophy, along with the number 14 to recognise the Gunners' record 14 successes in the competition. They'll wear a red badge in 2025/26, as they have for the past few years, as they aren't the holders anymore. Photo byThe Champions League has a similar system, putting a number in the centre of the Champions League badge if your team has either won five or more Champions League trophies, or if they've won three in a row. Right now, that means Real Madrid (15), AC Milan (7), Bayern Munich (6), Liverpool (6), Barcelona (5), and Ajax (4, with 3 consecutive) are the only clubs permitted to add a number to their badge. The Premier League has no such system, though perhaps it's only a matter of time.
