Sisters of missing Scot who vanished in Portugal on five-day stag do make fresh plea as search for him enters its second week
The sisters of a missing British man who vanished just hours into a five-day stag do in Portugal have launched a fresh plea for information as the search enters its second week. Greg Monks, a 38-year-old plant mechanic from Glasgow, was last seen in the early hours of May 28 during the first night out of a five-day stag do he was on with friends in the resort town of Albufeira. Mr Monks, who is due to be a groomsman at the wedding of his friend, told pals he was heading back to his holiday apartment but has not been seen since. Since then, his family have flown out to search for clues as to where he may have gone. His sisters, Jillian and Carlyn Monks, are working to spread the word to get any information that might assist Portuguese cops in their search. Carlyn told Sky News: 'As a family we're worried sick. It's so unlike him, but myself and Jillian are just trying to hold each other up back home.' Jillian added: 'He deserves to be home. We need him home. He need to be back with his family, and it's unimaginable if he's just lying somewhere that we can't find him. '[Greg] is quiet, works hard, he's happy in his relationship with his girlfriend. He's a great uncle and godfather to our kids. He's a real family man, really family oriented.' The sisters said police have told them that their brother was last spotted on CCTV in the quieter residential area of Cerro de Águia – which is around four miles from the Novochoro Apartments he had checked into. The hill with residential properties is also more than an hour's walk west of the Albufeira Strip, where Monks is thought to have left his friends. 'He's been spotted twice walking alone there on CCTV, the area's residential, it's rural - there's really a lot of trees and rocks, it's got quite rough terrain', Jillian said. The sisters pleaded with people in their area to get in contact with local cops if they have any information about their brother's disappearance. 'If you see his picture, and you know anything, get in touch. If you live in the area, or the surrounding area, and you have home security please check it and get in touch', said Jillian. She added that she was heartened by people who have already begun searching in their spare time. 'We're getting lots of support online, especially even people over there who are using the last days of their holidays to go up to this area and look for them. People are risking themselves to look in areas they shouldn't have to look', she said. The sisters said they were looking for information as to whether he took a taxi from his night out, or whether he walked over to the affluent area, as that would determine whether the search effort needed to be moved. 'We want to know if he got a taxi there, if he used his card. He only had his card with him. We want to know if he got a taxi there or are we wasting time searching this area', Jillian said. '[Local police] told us it would be going to national police, but we won't have a meeting with them or an update for a day or two, and time is not what we have'. she added. The family fear Mr Monks became lost in the unfamiliar surroundings and may have had an accident. Hospitals have been checked without success but police are not thought to have yet carried out an exhaustive search of medical centres. This would involve officers going round wards to check on patients admitted without proper identification. Ms Monks has described her brother as a 'really hard worker' and a 'quiet guy', whose disappearance immediately 'threw up a red flag'. She said he has a Thor-type Viking unfinished tattoo at the top of his right arm which would be visible if he was wearing a vest top or had no shirt on. Ms Kelso is said to have checked through Mr Monks' case to see what was missing. As such, the family believe he was wearing a navy blue Nike shorts and top set when he disappeared. A GoFundMe appeal set up on behalf of the family to help support the search had reached more than £14,700 yesterday afternoon. Mr Monks' other sister, Carlyn, also pleaded with people online yesterday as she shared the family's appeal for help.

Greg Monks: Family appeal for information after Scottish man goes missing on stag do in Portugal
The family of a Scottish man who went missing on a stag do in Portugal have urged police to ramp up their efforts to find him. Greg Monks, 38, from Glasgow, was last seen in Albufeira in the early hours of Wednesday morning, on the first night of a five-day stag do. His parents and his girlfriend flew out to Portugal to help with the search the next day, but have not found any recent sightings of him. Speaking to The UK Tonight with Sarah-Jane Mee, Mr Monks's sisters Jillian and Carlyn said they are "waiting for answers". "As a family, we're worried sick," Carlyn added. "It's just so unlike him, but myself and Jillian are just trying to hold each other up back home." Jillian then said: "He deserves to be found, he deserves to be looked for, we need him home. "He's a big part of our family, and it's just unimaginable if he's just lying somewhere and we can't find him." Carlyn also called her brother "a real family man", while Jillian said that "I know that if he could phone us or reach out to us, he would, he wouldn't put us through this". Jillian said that after his friends told her "he's not come home from the night before", they asked "if there was any way we could track his phone or try and see what his location is". "I just couldn't believe it," she added. "It's not like him, he wouldn't normally do anything like this. "It had only been 12 hours since he was seen, but we were just so worried." She and his friends then tried to report Mr Monks as missing, but she said "it wasn't really taken seriously at first because it hadn't been that long". Jillian added that when her family arrived in Albufeira, police told them they had spotted Mr Monks twice on CCTV footage walking around the residential area. The area where the 38-year-old was last seen had a lot of "rough terrain" - including rocky outcrops and cliffs - and was more than an hour's walk from the Albufeira Strip, where he was thought to have left his friends. Jillian then said that while the police are looking for Mr Monks, "they just don't have the manpower" to search the area fully, and "it's been difficult for them to get the information" they are looking for. The sisters are calling for the police to use dogs to help track down Mr Monks, and have asked locals, "if you know anything, any tiny bit of information, get in touch".

Megan McKenna shares a kiss with her husband-to-be Oliver Burke as she gives an insight into their joint hen and stag do at mystery location
Megan McKenna shared a kiss with her husband-to-be Oliver Burke as she gave an insight into their joint hen and stag do on Saturday. The former TOWIE star, 32, and the footballer, 27, who welcomed their first child, Landon, in October, are gearing up for their imminent wedding day. Sharing an update to Instagram, Megan wore a chic white shirt dress, complete with a veil and a bride-to-be sash. Meanwhile, Oliver wore a black T-shirt with a pair of smart white linen trousers to celebrate with friends and family during their holiday. She captioned the post: 'It's nearly time… also my family are to cute, thanks guys I love you.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Megan added: 'Me & Oli came downstairs for the evening to 'chapel of love' playing… video will be posted soon.' In March, Megan teased details about the couple's upcoming nuptials, as she went for a fitting for multiple wedding dresses after spending three weeks apart from Oliver. Oli got down on one knee after enjoying a romantic boat trip in Montenegro back in June 2023, after a whirlwind five month romance. And Megan gushed it was 'so exciting' that the pair were getting closer to being husband and wife, as she explained she had to be remeasured for her wedding dresses after shedding several pounds. Captioning the post, she said: 'Hadn't seen Oli in 3 weeks, this is how our day went… don't worry guys Oli hasn't seen my wedding dresses. 'They are in Italy atm being made! Eeek. I had to pop in to get my measurements taken again as my baby weight is dropping off me!!!! Not long now ♥️'. Her latest update comes after Megan admitted she won't let online trolls 'ruin the best chapter of her life' as she revealed how she didn't expect the cruel mum-shaming she has received. The reality star has made the decision to be open about her motherhood journey over on social media, but confessed mum-shaming was never something she anticipated as she asked: 'When did the mum brigade become so brutal?' Megan gushed it was 'so exciting' that the pair were getting closer to being husband and wife, as she explained she had to be remeasured for her wedding dresses after losing weight Speaking in an exclusive interview with MailOnline last week, Megan revealed: 'When I became a mum, I thought we'd all be supportive of one another, but mum shaming is something that I didn't anticipate. 'Don't get me wrong, it hasn't all been bad, the majority of my social media is extremely positive, and there are so many wonderfully kind mums out there, who have really helped me, and who have been so supportive, but when did the mum brigade become so brutal?' Gushing over being in her 'mum era', Megan added that reading negative comments online has really knocked her confidence as she starts her family. She explained: 'Motherhood is so rewarding, all I ever wanted is this, it sounds so soppy, but I feel like my mum era is the best one yet. 'He's my little bestie, and when he smiles, I know I'm doing okay. There's no better feeling than seeing his big blue eyes light up when I come into the room. 'That's why the mum shaming was so hard, it really knocked my confidence, but then I look at Landon smiling, and I like to think I'm doing a good job.' Standing firm against the trolls she added: 'He's got the most protective mum, and everything I do, I do it for him. 'I refuse to let the trolling affect these magical moments with my baby, it makes me sad, but I won't allow them to ruin the best chapter of my life.' Thanking those who have supported her amid her big life change Megan added: 'I'm so thankful to those who have been so supportive, they've been such a welcomed and appreciated light, in those moments when the trolls are trying to dim my light. 'Mum shaming needs to stop. We all need to be supporting each other, and lifting each other up, the TikTok mum brigade who like to shame other parents, need to be kinder. 'I just really hope those trolls, can find peace, and I encourage them to think before they type'.

Danny Dyer fails to show at Jarrod Bowen's stag as West Ham ace charters £1,000 party boat
WEST Ham ace Jarrod Bowen is forever blowing bubbles on his Ibiza stag do - as he hit the sea on a private boat yesterday. The England forward, 28, and ten pals splashed out £1,000 to hire the vessel and drift out across the breezy Balearic Sea for five hours - but Danny Dyer was nowhere to be seen. 10 Jarrod has been enjoying a relatively low-key stag ahead of his wedding to his former Love Island star fiancée Dani Dyer, 28, on Saturday. Sources said that after arriving on the Spanish party island clad in fancy dress on Monday, the group spent £2,000 on a boozy lunch at the swanky Nassau Beach Club. Jarrod was seen leaving the bar topless with a bucket hat and shorts and looked to be enjoying himself with close pals. The group, who are staying in a luxury private villa, climbed into a blacked-out Mercedes Sprinter after their lunch. An onlooker said: 'Jarrod seemed to be having a great time and looked really relaxed ahead of his big day. 'They kept things respectable and didn't hit it too hard at the beach club. 'There's no doubt the lads have got plenty in store for Jarrod over the next couple of days so it's bound to get messy.' The lads, along with Jarrod's dad, had set off in style on a private jet from Stansted Airport on Monday morning - all clad in fancy dress, with Jarrod in a wedding dress. But their trip has so far paled in comparison to Dani's hen do - with the girls partying hard over the weekend. Her hardman actor dad Danny, 47, had been expected to be part of the stag-party - with Dani confirming he was joining Jarrod and his pals earlier this year. Watch as Dani Dyer dances with booze on her flight to Ibiza as she wears West Ham kit on second hen do ahead of Jarrod Bowen wedding But there has so far been no sign of him. Sources previously told The Sun that Dani and her friends splurged around £20,000 on her hen do - with the group flying out with British Airways last week. Dani, who shares twins with Jarrod, flew back in a West Ham kit with his number 20 and the words 'Mrs Bowen to be' emblazoned across the back. They had spent their time partying at hotspots including super-club Ushuaia. One source said: 'Dani might have flown on a commercial flight but they splashed the cash when they landed. 'She spent Friday night at Ushuaia where they were on a VIP table with a minimum spend of £8,000. 'The next day they hired a boat to go around the coast before spending the rest of the time chilling at the Hard Rock hotel. 'Dani also had a boozy brunch at Beso Beach where her mates put on Jarrod masks and sang Abba songs with her. 'They spent their last night at superclub Hi Ibiza where they had a VIP booth. 'There were some sore heads when they touched down at City airport.' 10 10 10 10 10 10
