Man injured in street fight in Ilkeston dies in hospital
A man who was seriously injured during a street fight in a town has died, police say 19-year-old Liam Derret was out with friends in Market Place, Ilkeston, when an altercation broke out between other was taken to Queen's Medical Centre (QMC) in Nottingham in a critical condition where he died later on men, aged 23 and 24, initially arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent, have now been re-arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody. Ch Supt Emma Aldred, who is in charge of policing the area where the altercation took place on Sunday, said: "I know how heartbreaking this news is going to be for our local communities in Ilkeston and surrounding areas."I cannot even begin to imagine the devastation felt by Liam's family, friends, and all who knew and loved him."I want to reassure people that we have a team of detectives dedicated to bringing Liam's attackers to justice and are working around the clock to do so."The force has urged anyone with information about the fight to come forward.

7 people injured, HK$400,000 watch stolen after Hong Kong street fight
At least seven people have been injured during a street fight in Hong Kong's Tsim Sha Tsui, with one victim claiming his HK$400,000 (US$51,000) watch has been stolen, according to police. Advertisement The force said it received a call at 3.22am on Monday reporting that four men attacked the seven people near 4 Austin Avenue. The attackers, who used their arms and legs during the assault, fled the scene afterwards. According to preliminary investigations, the attackers, who allegedly stole the 31-year-old victim's watch, had a dispute with the seven men over eye contact. The seven men, aged 19 to 31, suffered various injuries to their noses, mouths, heads, arms and stomachs. They were sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment. The attackers, believed to be between 20 and 30 years old, were all clad in black. Advertisement Yau Tsim district crime squad is following up on the case, which has been classified as wounding and theft. No arrests have been made so far.

Moment car ploughs into bare-chested thugs brawling on street with machetes in bizarre broad-daylight carnage
HORRIFYING footage shows the moment a car ploughed into machete-wielding thugs brawling on the street in broad daylight. The bare-chested yobs were captured on camera fighting on Clements Place in Dundee, Scotland. 4 4 As many as eight people were involved in the brutal street fight as shocked motorists watched on in horror. A number of thugs were armed with metal poles and machetes as the scrap spilled across a pavement outside residential properties at around 1.40pm yesterday. The aggression escalates and one of the men wearing an orange hi-vis top punches another one before starting to fight him and another man. A fourth man then begins wielding what appears to be a metal pole and hits the hi-vis man in the back. He then starts swinging it at another group of men waiting at a nearby van. More men wearing hi-vis vests then pour out the vehicle and chase after the guy with the pole. He is then knocked to the ground by the man who threw the first punch, and is repeatedly punched and kicked by two others. As one of the group leaps into the white van, the Mini reverses, smashing into the side of it during the wild scenes. A car engine and screeching tyres are then heard as a grey Mini appears and drives at one of pole man's attackers. The motor speeds between the van and another parked car and hits a man wearing a yellow hi-vis vest. A loud thud is heard as he hits the bonnet of the car before being thrown against a nearby lamppost and falling to the ground. One man then picks up the metal pole and smashes the van's windscreen with it. The van then speeds away from the scene before two of the group jump into the Mini and lead chase as the clip ends. It's understood the area was sealed off by officers following the incident last night. A 24-year-old man was rushed to Ninewells Hospital after the rammy broke out. The condition of the injured man is not currently known. Officers have also confirmed that a burnt-out vehicle, believed to be the Mini, was discovered in the nearby Baldovan Woods area at around 4.10pm on Tuesday. Cops are currently probing whether this was linked to the earlier disturbance and their enquiries are ongoing. Detective Inspector Craig Kelly said: 'This type of violence has no place on our streets and we are following positive lines of enquiry to identify and arrest those responsible. 'There will be an increased police presence in the area as the investigation continues. 'We are aware of videos circulating on social media and would ask anyone with information, footage, or who witnessed the incident, to please contact police. "A further report was received of a burnt-out vehicle found in the Baldovan Woods area around 4.10pm on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. "Enquiries to establish whether this is related to the earlier disturbance are ongoing."
