These 'Seriously Delicious' Salads Have Completely Saved My Weekday Lunches (They're Anything But Sad!)

When it comes to planning weeknight dinners, I have a solid rotation. Lunches, on the other hand, are a little trickier. Lately, I've been making jazzed-up avocado toasts — they're easy, quick, and tasty. I don't want to become tired of them, though, so I needed to explore other options. That's when I stumbled upon Gardencup, a subscription service that delivers premade salads (or soups, or bowls, or snacks) in a portable cup. I tried them out to see if they were tastier and quicker than the salads I make at home. Spoiler: They absolutely were. Plus, they come in so many flavors, I don't think I'll ever get bored. What You Should Know About Gardencup's Build Your Pack Gardencup is a subscription service that takes the guesswork, emphasis on work, out of weekday lunches (or dinners). The weekly menu includes more than 45 soups, salads, bowls, and snacks that are delivered to your door. It covers a variety of dietary needs and preferences too, like protein-packed, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free. You'll find Chicken Bacon Cobb and Asian Chopped salads, an Italian Pasta Bowl (with smoked salami), Chicken Tortilla soup, and even Snackcups, like Chocolate Chia Seed Pudding with collagen or Deviled Egg Salad in the mix. You can choose between six or nine cups in your order, and whether you want to receive shipments weekly or biweekly. Soups, Snackcups or Producecups (containers that have precut fruit and veggies) count as half an item, so you get even more items when you pick out those. Pretty cool, right? The items are stored in the fridge and should be consumed within five or six days from when they show up at your door. Gardencup Build Your Pack Gardencup $72 Buy Now Each item is priced individually, starting at $5.99, so totals will vary, depending on what you pick. I ordered six Gardencups with Protein for $71.94 (all costing $11.99 per container). My second order was a mix of Gardencups and a Powercup for the exact same total price. My Honest Review of Gardencup's Build Your Pack The packaging of the Gardencups is cute and effective. The containers have rounded lids with different color labels noting which salad and Powercup is which. All the ingredients you need (including the dressing and any additional toppings like crispy tortilla strips and croutons) are already in the cup on top of the veggies and proteins. I just open the individual pouches of dressings and toppings, put the lid back on, and shake — my favorite way to toss a salad! It took me no more than two minutes to put my salads together for lunch everyday. The cups are roughly the size of a medium ketchup bottle and slightly narrow. While you can totally eat them right out of the container if you're at the office or on the go, I preferred to pour mine out into a bowl, just so I didn't have to reach so far into the container. Of all the salads and Powercups I tried between my two shipments, the Chef Salad with Turkey and Ham was easily my favorite. It reminds me of the ones I used to make at the grocery store salad bar, but with fresher ingredients and a ranch dressing that tasted homemade. I'm still thinking about that avocado ranch. There's also avocado ranch dressing in the Southwest Salad with Fajita Chicken. That one was seriously delicious, too, with its roasted corn pico, black beans, diced tomatoes, corn tortilla strips, green bell peppers, and super flavorful chicken. It was like turning my favorite bowl from Chipotle into a salad. I also really appreciated that the lettuce is shredded (though if you get a cup with spinach, those leaves are left whole). I love a chopped salad, so I was delighted to see that's how many of these salads were prepared. I didn't get a chance to try a Snackcup in my last two shipments, but I really want to!
