Prince William's fling with the posh girl from the 'Glosse Posse': Charles had given the relationship with Arabella Musgrave his blessing but HER father had a different view...

Before meeting his future wife Kate at St Andrews, Prince William had a fling with another affluent young woman. In the summer of 2001, before he began his four-year course in Scotland, a childhood friend caught the prince's eye at a mutual acquaintance's party. Arabella Musgrave was the 18-year-old daughter of polo club manager Major Nicholas Musgrave. 'Although not titled aristocracy, Arabella was a close friend of Guy Pelly and Hugh Van Cutsem and part of the Glosse Posse,' royal correspondent Katie Nicholl wrote in her book, The Making of a Royal Romance. This was the name given to William and Harry's inner circle and meant Arabella secured an invite to parties the princes used to throw in the basement of Highgrove and those Van Custem would run from his family residence. 'As she walked through the house party at the Van Cutsems' family home, William did a double take,' Nicholl continued. It was a textbook romance. 'Arabella had blossomed into a gorgeous looking girl, and as she sashayed past him, her perfume lingering in the air, he wondered why he hadn't noticed her properly until now.' The two danced and drank until the early hours and, as noted by Nicholl, 'William knew he would make a move on her by the end of the night'. The royal author added: 'When Arabella said her goodnights, the prince quietly slipped out of the room to follow her upstairs. 'It was the beginning of a passionate romance and the two spent as much time together that summer as possible.' The romance was approved by Prince Charles who 'suspected the relationship would soon fizzle out and instructed William's protection officers to give the couple plenty of leeway'. But Major Nicholas was much harder to please. When he caught his daughter sitting on William's lap while the prince kissed her neck he had a quiet word, according to Nicholl. 'Although he was fond of William, such displays of affection, he insisted, were not for public consumption.' The prince's decision to attend St Andrews boosted applications and interest in the university But it wasn't all kisses on necks and sneaking from parties. The relationship ended by the time William went to St Andrews in what Nicholl described as a 'mutual decision'. 'William would be meeting new people at university and Arabella could not expect him to to wait for her,' she wrote. The prince's decision to attend St Andrews significantly boosted applications and interest in the university. This 'Prince William effect' resulted in a 44 per cent increase in applications compared to the previous year. The rise was particularly noticeable among young women, especially from the US. William was very aware of his impact and was keen to make genuine friends. The young prince said in an interview around the time: 'People who try to take advantage of me and a get a piece of me, I spot it quickly and soon go off them.' He added: 'I just hope I can meet people I get on with. I don't care about their background.' The future King reportedly requested a room without an en-suite so he could get the full student experience of queuing for the communal showers. During his first term, William started dating Carly Massy-Birch, an English language and creative writing student. He was often invited to supper at Carly's home, where the prince would step over her muddy Hunter Wellington boots in the hallway. Their affair was to be short-lived, however, and ended somewhat stickily when Carly told William he had to make a decision between her and Arabella. Despite having swarms of attractive women to choose between, William was bored in Scotland. Nicholl wrote: 'He missed his friends in Gloucestershire and going to his favourite nightclubs in London. 'He also missed Arabella, and on Friday nights when he began his journey home to Highgrove he was comforted by the fact that she would be waiting for him.' According to royal expert Robert Lacey in his 2020 book Battle of Brothers, William expressed doubts to his father during the holidays over his choice of course and institution and told him how he wanted to move. He found life in the small Scottish town to be quiet, with the highlight of his week shopping at Tesco and playing sport on a Wednesday William later said he felt he was 'daunted' by life at university rather than homesick His grandfather, Prince Philip, is said to have responded: 'William needs to knuckle down and not wimp out.' He found life in the small Scottish town to be quiet, with the highlight of his week being shopping at Tesco and playing sport on a Wednesday. Kensington Palace and St Andrews managed to resolve the issue by liaising with one another and agreed for William to switch courses to Geography. Charles spent the Christmas holiday having a heartfelt discussion with William, who eventually decided against moving away. William later said he felt he was 'daunted' rather than homesick. He said at the time: 'My father was very understanding about it and realised I had the same problem he had probably had. 'We chatted a lot, and in the end we both realised - I definitely realised - that I had to come back. 'I think it was the new surroundings. When I was with Raleigh International in Chile during my gap year, it was the same sort of thing. You're thrown into completely new territory. 'I don't think I was homesick. I was more daunted.' The decision paid off, as it was at St Andrews that William met and fell in love with Kate. By the end of freshers' week, the future Princess of Wales had been crowned the prettiest girl at Sally's, the nickname for St Salvator's Hall, her hall of residence. And she had already caught the eye of William. He had noticed her as soon as he arrived – it was hard not to. It was March 27, 2002, the night of the annual Don't Walk charity fashion show at the five-star St Andrews Bay Hotel, and William had paid £200 for a front-row ticket. As Kate shimmied down the catwalk wearing black underwear and a daring, see-through dress, William turned to his close friend Fergus Boyd and whispered: 'Wow, Kate's hot!' Another of the models that night recalled: 'Kate was great on the catwalk. She and everyone, including William, knew it.' They began living together in a shared flat with two other friends in 2002, and their romance is said to have blossomed by Christmas 2003. Their relationship became public in 2004 after photos of them together during a ski trip were published. Arabella, who now works in communications for Gucci, and William have remained friends into their adult years and she even attended his wedding to Kate in 2011. Arabella arrives at William and Kate's wedding at Westminster Abbey Arabella is the director of entertainment industry relations at Gucci, who poached her from Prada In 2014 she married George Galliers-Pratt of the Cayzer banking dynasty in Knightsbridge. While Kate and William didn't go to the ceremony, the princess' sister Pippa was in attendance. Her lavish wedding featured in US Vogue and in 2020 she became head of communications in north Europe for Gucci. The couple also have a daughter. Kate and William heard a speech at their graduation ceremony in 2005 by their principal, who described St Andrews in Fife as the country's top matchmaking university. He added: 'You may have met your husband or wife.' If William had not returned to St Andrews after his break, his life could have looked very different. The rest, as they say, is history.

Tom Brady denies calling Sofia Vergara 'too old' to date

Tom Brady's representative is setting the record straight as rumors of a romance with Sofía Vergara swirl. Brady, 47, would "never" say Vergara, 53, was "too old" to date. "Tom never said, nor would he ever say, anything like this. It is pure fiction," his rep told People magazine. Vergara and the NFL legend sparked romance rumors after they were reportedly spotted cozying up aboard a star-studded luxury yacht. Vergara and Brady posed for a photo which the "Modern Family" star later shared on Instagram. "What a perfect weekend full of surprises!" she captioned the post, which featured photos and videos from her time on the yacht. In the photo, the Hollywood actress is seen with her hands on her hips, eyes closed and smiling for the camera while being kissed on the forehead by music producer J Balvin. Brady flashed a smile and wore sunglasses while seated next to Vergara at a dinner table. The pair have reportedly been spending time together in Ibiza, Spain, as a source described the situation as a "summer romance," according to Page Six. "He asked to switch seats to sit next to her at dinner," a source told the media outlet. Despite the speculation, sources told TMZ the "romance" label on the two is "ridiculous." The insiders claimed the time the two have spent together is nothing more than a summer fling. Vergara has been a single woman since announcing her split from Joe Manganiello in 2023. The former couple finalized their divorce in February 2024. Both Vergara and Manganiello cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reasoning for the divorce. Brady experienced his own divorce in 2022 from ex-wife Gisele Bündchen. Since the end of his marriage, the former NFL quarterback has been romantically linked to model Irina Shayk.

Tom Brady & Sofia Vergara's Summer Flings Across Europe

Tom Brady and Sofia Vergara: A Summer Fling Through Europe Tom Brady and Sofia Vergara have sparked curiosity and headlines, as sources reveal they are enjoying a summer fling while traveling across Europe. However, this lighthearted connection is far from a couple-status romance. According to insiders familiar with the situation, the two are simply having fun during their European adventure alongside a group of other celebrities. Celebrity-Filled Yacht Excursion The fling's buzz began about a week ago when Tom and Sofia were spotted on a lavish superyacht sailing from Rome, Italy. The star-studded gathering included Martha Stewart, Kendall Jenner, Naomi Campbell, Kate Hudson, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Anitta, Tessa Thompson, and Irina Shayk—one of Tom's prior romantic links. In a moment that drew attention, Tom reportedly reorganized seating during a yacht dinner to sit right next to Sofia. The actress later shared moments from the evening on her Instagram, including a photo of Tom and Sofia at the table. J Balvin appeared in the snaps, giving Sofia a warm forehead kiss during their social interaction. Why It's 'Not a Romance' Despite reports referring to their connection as 'romantic,' sources close to the situation contest any serious labels, calling the idea of romance 'ridiculous' at this stage. While Tom and Sofia seem to be enjoying each other's company, insiders emphasize that their relationship is strictly casual and nothing beyond a fun summer fling for the time being. This development comes amidst Tom's single status following his divorce from Gisele Bündchen, who has since moved on with Joaquim Valente. Sofia, who recently visited Ibiza, is also maintaining a non-serious approach to the summer fun. Tom Brady's Recent European Adventures Tom Brady has been a fixture on the European social scene recently. He made waves during Jeff Bezos' wedding celebration in Venice, joining a lively crowd that reportedly had a stronger 'bro-fest' vibe than any romantic undertones. In a family moment, Tom was also spotted enjoying yacht time in Ibiza with his 12-year-old daughter. While the star quarterback has been brushing shoulders with numerous celebrities, his European jaunt has remained focused on fun and adventure rather than new relationships. What's Next for Tom and Sofia? With both Tom Brady and Sofia Vergara being high-profile and attractive stars, many are speculating whether their summer fling might develop into something more. For now, sources affirm it's nothing serious, but considering their chemistry and shared travels, only time will tell where things may lead. Fans are keeping their eyes peeled for updates from the duo's European escapade.

Sirens (2025) – Season 1 Episode 1 Recap & Review

Exile Episode 1 of Sirens begins with a woman named Michaela releasing a bird named Barnaby on a beach. The scene then shifts to a police station in Buffalo, New York, where we see a young woman named Devon leave the building. She sends her sister Simone multiple texts — just the word 'sirens'. But she receives no response. She goes home and finds an edible arrangement of fruit waiting on her doorstep. Inside the house is her father, watching loud TV inside a small, messy house. They realise the arrangement is from Simone and Devon gets angry. She takes it and gets on a bus. After that, she gets on board a boat and even ends up having sex with one of the crew. After the boat ride, Devon starts a long walk to a place called Cliff House, since she can't afford a taxi. We then shift to Simone, who is in a fancy villa by the sea. She sees Devon's messages and then heads inside, where a man named Ethan is in her bed. He suggests Simone tell Michaela that they are dating but she says their summer fling is about to get over anyway. They have sex and Simone then rushes to a massive estate, swarming with staff doing different duties. She then meets Michaela, although she calls her Kiki. Michaela tells her about setting the bird free and they discuss their plans for the day and the upcoming gala. Simone even helps Michaela sext her husband Peter in anticipation of them sleeping together that night. Michael speaks to another staff member in charge of more birds and we learn that she helped rehabilitate Barnaby. The employee shows her a tracker of Barnaby's movements. She's then introduced to a new bird named Winston. Simone gets dressed and begins checking details around the house, making a fuss when certain flowers are blue instead of white. She's shocked to find Devon at the front entrance. Devon greets her by throwing the fruit from the edible arrangement at her. She rants at Simone for sending the arrangement in response to learning that their father has early-onset dementia. She also realises that Simone has changed. She's removed her tattoos and even gotten a nose job. Simone tells her to leave and when Devon refuses, Simone tells her to wait in the guest house. Devon then admits it's been really hard taking care of their father and needs help but Simone claims it's not her problem. They are arguing when Michaela arrives and an awkward introduction ensues. Michaela even tells Devon to stay, which Devon accepts. Michaela and Simone leave and head to the event at the main house where many guests are waiting. Devon then calls Ray, her boss and also someone she sometimes sleeps with. In fact, she threatens to tell his wife about in order to get Ray to go check on her father. Devon tries to head out and the house AI warns her smoking isn't allowed on the property. She heads out into the woods and meets Jose, who takes her to a part of the property with no cameras where she can have a smoke. Others on the staff hang out there as well, eating carbs (which aren't allowed on the property either). On her way back to the guesthouse, Devon comes across Ethan, who mistakes her to be the staff. He's surprised to learn Simone has a sister. They enter the main house and Simone begs Devon to go back but she doesn't. Michaela kicks off the event with a poem about the Earth that everybody chants together. Devon calls it a cult. Simone gets even more annoyed when she realises that Devon told Ethan she was in foster care. They argue further and Simone eventually leaves to speak to Michaela. Michaela and Simone take Devon aside and give her a cheque for ten thousand dollars. Michaela has also booked a room at an inn and a flight in the following morning. Simone doesn't say anything and Michaela has Jose take Devon to the inn. Devon even has to sign an NDA but Jose shows her some kindness. When he drops her off, she makes a move on him but he says he has a family. Devon says this is a thing she does and is talking to a text therapist about it. She then gets a video call from her father. Since Michaela is paying for Devon's stay, Devon buys a dress. That evening, she wears it and hits on a man named Jordan at the bar. They end up having sex on his boat. Afterwards, Jordan gives Devon a sweatshirt and she recognises it as her sister's sweatshirt. He says he is the captain of the boat but he works for Ethan. Devon tells him that her sister is always trying to outrun her past and that she's really changed this time. Meanwhile, Ethan tells Simone he loves her and wants to know more about her. She says her mother died but doesn't expand on why she was in foster care. At the same time, Michaela is waiting for her husband Peter to show up but he doesn't. She's woken up by a loud noise, which turns out to be Barnaby, who smashes himself into Michaela's bedroom window. When Devon takes a peek from J's telescope, she sees Michaela holding Barnaby in bloody hands. The Episode Review Episode 1 establishes Sirens as a classic satire of rich people. It has the massive, sprawling house, the unbelievably rich white people, the fancy parties, and the scruffy protagonist from a poorer background. Devon makes for a great Ordinary Girl character in contrast to Simone, Michaela, and the rest. It's even better that she's messed up in her own way, having problems with alcohol and sex and even blackmailing Ray, and not a total goody two shoes as such protagonists can often be. All three women are doing a fantastic job here, although Milly Alcock and Meghann Fahy get most of the screen time here. They establish their dynamic as sisters really well while also hinting that Simone wasn't always like this. Everything is visually gorgeous as well, which definitely plays into the neat and clean aesthetic that reflects privilege. The story sets a solid foundation here, leaving plenty of meat to be explored in these characters in future episodes and promising a dark, twisted tale. All in all, a great start!
