Kylie Kelce explains why she's against girls wearing bikinis
The mom of four shares the "torture" of getting swim-ready with four daughters.
Kylie Kelce may love summer days at the Jersey Shore, but she's not a fan of one particular staple of kids' beach fashion — bikinis. And her reason has nothing to do with modesty. In an interview with through her partnership with Dove's Body Confident Sport program, the mom of four revealed that the real issue is sunscreen.
'I have to be honest, I'm against the bikinis because I don't want to have to sunscreen that many spots,' she said. 'I'm a big proponent of the long sleeve swimsuits, specifically on the beach, because even when we have a two-piece with the long sleeve sun shirt, I still have to re-sunscreen their belly and their back.'
Kelce — who shares daughters Wyatt, 5, Elliotte, 4, Bennett, 2, and 3-month-old Finnley with retired NFL star Jason Kelce — said the process of chasing down squirming toddlers to cover every inch of skin is '100 percent necessary and 0 percent fun for anyone involved.'
She pointed out that swimwear shifts a lot during play: 'You know how much their swimsuits move while they're digging in the sand and playing in the waves. It is a hassle and a half.'
While Kelce says modesty is 'great for kids,' her stance is purely practical: 'Ultimately I don't want to have to sunscreen you any more than I already do. It's torture.'
Beyond swimwear, Kelce told she and Jason are focused on instilling positive body image in their kids, encouraging them to stay active through team sports, beach play, and time outdoors.
