Rafizi's son to undergo 6 months of medical tests after syringe attack
Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli's son was dragged out of their family car and stabbed with a syringe at a Putrajaya shopping mall yesterday afternoon. KUALA LUMPUR : Former economy minister Rafizi Ramli today said that his 12-year-old son would have to undergo six months of medical tests to rule out the possibility that he was injected with anything dangerous during an attack at a Putrajaya mall yesterday. The Pandan MP said doctors and police had yet to determine what the syringe contained, prompting a series of blood and food tests as well as extended hospital observation. Rafizi said there were three possibilities: drugs or poison, which doctors had ruled out after observation; a virus such as HIV or hepatitis; or plain water. 'So far, there have been no immediate effects (for drugs or poison). I take comfort in that as a father, we can rule out drugs and poison,' he told a press conference in Parliament today. However, Rafizi said the possibility of a viral infection could only be ruled out after 'at least six months' of monitoring. 'We can only know after six months, and we will have to continuously monitor his behaviour,' he said. Rafizi earlier revealed that his wife had received two threatening text messages from an unknown number this morning, reading: 'Be quiet. If you continue, AIDS.' He said he suspected that yesterday's attack was linked to a case he was looking into, adding that he had met a group of whistleblowers just last week. According to Rafizi, his son was dragged out of their family car by two individuals dressed in black and wearing full-face helmets and stabbed with a syringe. The assailants escaped, while the boy was rushed to the hospital.

In Malaysia, threats follow syringe attack on Rafizi Ramli's son: ‘shut up or else Aids'
No drugs or poison have been found in the blood of the 12-year-old son of Malaysian ex-minister Rafizi Ramli, who was attacked with a syringe at a shopping centre, as Rafizi warned on Thursday of fresh threats made against his family since the shocking assault. The boy, who was out with his mother at the shopping centre in Putrajaya, was attacked in a car park on Wednesday afternoon by two men on a motorbike who were dressed in black with full-face helmets. He was stabbed with a syringe before the assailants ran away. An emotional Rafizi told lawmakers that initial tests at the hospital ruled out drugs or poison being injected into his son, but doctors said he would need to be observed over six months for other substances or pathogens. 'The best case scenario is it is just 'blank' [liquid],' Rafizi told parliament. He said that his wife received a threatening message on her mobile phone at around 1am and 11am on Thursday, warning of a repeated attack if the ex-minister were to continue speaking on the matter.

Malaysian PM Anwar Orders 'Transparent' Probe of Syringe Attack on Ex-Minister's Son
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has called for a 'transparent and swift investigation' after former minister Rafizi Ramli said his son had been attacked with a syringe at a mall parking lot on Wednesday afternoon. Rafizi said a man had dragged his son away and stabbed his son with a syringe as his wife and the boy were about to enter their car and leave a mall in Putrajaya, the country's administrative capital. The assault was premeditated — a warning that was meant to silence him, he said.

Malaysian ex-minister Rafizi Ramli's son, 12, wounded in syringe attack
The 12-year-old son of Malaysia 's firebrand former minister Rafizi Ramli was attacked with a syringe in a shopping centre car park on Wednesday afternoon, in what the ex-cabinet member said was a premeditated assault likely aimed at silencing his strident views. The attack happened at a shopping centre in the administrative capital of Putrajaya, as Rafizi's wife and son were about to enter their car. 'Suddenly a man dragged my son and stabbed him with a syringe,' Rafizi said in a statement, adding he believed the two assailants – both dressed in black and wearing full face helmets – were lying in wait to attack 'at the right time', based on CCTV footage of the incident. Rafizi said his son was brought to the nearby UPM general hospital immediately after the attack for treatment. He did not describe the contents of the syringe, saying that he would leave it to the police and hospital to release further updates. 'In my time as a public facing politician, this is the first time my family has become a target of attacks and threats such as this,' Rafizi said.

AROUND ten girls were reportedly pricked by a man with a syringe during a French musical festival. The incident is said to have unfolded in Metz on Friday, when over 50,000 flocked to celebrate World Music Day, Le Républicain Lorrain reports. 2 The girls - most reportedly minors - were targeted by one or more people at around 10pm, according to the local outlet. The alleged attacks happened between two popular spots in the city centre, Place de la République and Place Saint-Jacques. Firefighters at the event quickly tended to the girls, who were then rushed to hospital "for analysis", according to Metz mayor François Grosdidier. A man was arrested by local cops in connection with the incidents. He was taken to the police station to be interviewed. Grosdidier estimated that a crowd of 50,000 packed the city centre, adding: "It's Saturday night and it's still hot… There are a lot of people, people everywhere, in all the city centre streets." Police remained on duty throughout the night following the incident. It comes as a school girl was stabbed to death by a 15-year-old student who went on a knife rampage at a school in the French city of Nantes. The attacker, wearing black clothing and a balaclava, also stabbed three other students who were rushed to hospital. When armed cops arrived at the scene, the attacker reportedly shouted "shoot me in the head" before being handcuffed and taken away. School knife horror leaves girl dead and three students injured in France The suspect was named as Justin P. by French newspaper Le Parisien.
