Walmart's selling a $329 50-inch smart TV for $178, and fans say it's 'stunning'
When I was in college, I wrote my papers on a clunky desktop PC that took floppy discs, and the TV in my room had rabbit-ear antennas. Trust me, there was nothing on my back-to-school shopping list that I'd wish to own today. But the current batch of college kids? They're a different story. Modern-day students are heading to campus with some pretty sweet tech, and I don't just mean laptops. Take this 50-inch LED Roku TV by Onn, for example. It's one of Walmart's best back-to-college deals — and that's saying a lot, because they're all incredible. The smart TV, which more than 32,000 shoppers are raving about, is almost 50% off right now, reduced to just $178 (from $239). Dorm room who? I'm snagging this set for my home! Why is it a good deal? 💰 A 50-inch smart TV for under $200? Yep, it's real, and it's spectacular. It's rare to find a smart TV of this size for this low of a price (you're saving more than $150). This size flat-screen is the sweet spot for the average living room — big enough to feel cinematic, but small enough not to overwhelm the space — so it's in high demand. This Onn model also comes equipped with built-in Roku, giving you access to all the most popular streaming platforms, like Netflix, Hulu, Max and Apple+. It also integrates seamlessly into your smart home setup. Quite a score, I must say. Why do I need this? 🤔 Not familiar with the manufacturer Onn? It's Walmart's in-house electronics brand, based in South Carolina. So if it's important for you to keep your dollars local, this TV is a great option. True to Walmart form, the company specializes in premium-quality tech at low prices. Whether you're looking to replace your current TV or you want an additional one, this TV is a great investment. If you use Amazon Alexa, Google Home or Apple Home, you'll love that this smart TV is compatible with all three. If you refuse to pay for cable and like to pick your streaming platforms, this set is perfect. And if you're always misplacing the remote, you're in luck: All you have to do is grab your smartphone and use the Roku mobile app to scroll through channels. You can use voice controls, too! As for the picture and sound quality, Onn is on top of it. This tech gadget displays images in lifelike 4K resolution, so you can see every blade of glass, every micro expression, and all the vivid colors and little details that grace the 50-inch screen. And the refresh rate is impressive, so sports and action movie fans can get their adrenaline rushes, uninterrupted What the reviewers say 💬 Fans of the Onn Roku TV are not shy. Thousands of them gave this TV five stars — a perfect rating! — praising its features, raving about its clarity and even reporting that the setup is super simple. Pros 👍 Easy, easy, easy — that's what a lot of reviewers love. "I was able to open, set up and begin watching it within 30-45 minutes," one person wrote. "It came equipped with Roku, so there was no downloading, uploading or waiting period, and it shows with a clear picture, sharp colors and clear sound. Very pleased with this purchase." Another customer said, "I like for things to work right out of the box with no fuss or drama. This TV fired right up! The apps connected through my phone. Streaming went right to my Roku account. Movies came right up. The sound is fine. You can cast to it from a phone or tablet." Some shoppers in the comments are Onn brand loyalists, like this candid reviewer: "I've used many 'budget' smart TV brands, but Onn has hit the mark each time for quality, durability and longevity. Most of these cheaper smart televisions you see on the market slow down to a near-unusable speed after only months of ownership, but with Onn, I have yet to experience this issue after years of use and multiple TVs that I own in various sizes." And then there's the picture itself, which shoppers say is stunning. "The color is vivid and sharp," one person wrote. "The sound quality is amazing. I have several Onn products, including over-the-ear headphones, and I will continue to buy Onn products because they are quality and affordable." This pleased purchaser summed it up best: "Picture is amazing, it has all the features that I need/want and it's half the price of its competitors." Cons 👎 It seems that for some customers, the built-in speakers aren't up to snuff, and a few decided to add a sound bar. One reviewer wrote, "You have to turn it up to almost 40 to hear it normally," while another chimed in, "I love this TV, bu have to turn it way up to hear it, and it disturbs the whole house. If the sound were better, it would get five stars." A few other shoppers weren't too pleased with the remote, with one complaining that you have to point precisely at the TV's sensor, and another stating that the "volume and mute buttons are located on the side of the controller — exactly where your hands hold the unit." AceMagic Mini PC (16GB RAM, 512GB SSD) Is Going for Peanuts, 4.7-Star Power Alternative to Mac Mini
The two biggest issues when looking at getting a PC tend to be size and cost. Sometimes we're not working with enough space to justify getting a hunking beast of a laptop, nor do we need that much power. Then there's the cost of the things, because even buying a more budget option can end up costing you too much. Well, if you're looking at a tiny PC, then you can skirt around both of those issues, and right now, you can get the Acemagic Vista Mini V1 for just $158, which is 31% off the normal price of $229. That's a solid discount on an already affordable bit of tech, so we recommend snatching it up while the deal is still on. See at Amazon Tiny PCs like these are amazing for those who don't have much space, so students or just those in smaller homes, or those who don't need a PC all of the time. Not everyone who gets a PC is going to be permanently attached to it, and a smaller PC like this one is easier to pack away when you're not using it, which is nice. Sometimes convenience is a huge factor when looking at getting new tech, so it's always worth considering. This particular model has some fairly decent specs as well. It has a Twin Lake N150 processor and 16 GB of RAM to make sure it can keep up with whatever it is you're doing. While it's not the fastest option out there, it's got enough speed for the majority of users who would be using it to do writing or research. It can also output 4K visuals, which is amazing if you're looking to stream shows or films, which is nice if you're using it for downtime. It can even manage outputting to two different monitors at once, and it has both WiFi and Bluetooth compatibility, and all of this is in a device that's 3.9 x 3.9 x 1.3 inches. It's doing a lot of work at not only a low price, but also in an incredibly small PC case. It's really easy to understand why somebody would want to pick one of these up at $229, so being able to save yourself 31% and get it for just $158 is a really good deal. We just recommend doing it fast if you do want it, because this deal won't last for very long, and you'll be annoyed if you miss out. See at Amazon

Amazon reduced the price of this latest addition to the MacBook Air range back in May, and now, with another price slash, it's at its lowest ever price at the online retailer. The laptop impressed The Independent' s tech critic David Phelan, who called it 'preposterously slim, sharply designed and appealingly light' after putting it to the test. You can save £250 on Samsung's Chromebook thanks to this Prime Day deal. It's a great choice for those who need a laptop for simple tasks without too many bells and whistles. Right now, it's the cheapest it's ever been at Amazon. Taking the title of the best Windows laptop, I found the laptop to be 'as near to a MacBook-style experience as you'll find on any Windows laptop'. Even though it is a definite investment at more than £1,200, it has almost 20 per cent off at the moment. This is one of the lowest prices we've seen it at since its launch. Sure, it isn't the very latest MacBook, but this is still a very good laptop. In my guide to the best laptops, I found that this model is 'a masterpiece of design', and that hasn't changed just because there's a slightly newer version. This powerful laptop is great for heavy-duty tasks like video editing.

Sony launched the WH-1000XM6 back in May, which means the previous generation of our favourite noise-cancelling headphones are going cheap in the Prime Day sale – the excellent Sony WH-1000XM5 have been slashed by a massive £160. Prime Day is serving up some great tech deals on everything from TVs to laptops, but if you're in the market for a new pair of premium headphones, this is the one you really need to know about. Released last year, the WH-1000XM5 just dropped to their lowest-ever price in the sale. The flagship cans from Sony usually retail at £379, but Amazon has slashed the price by a massive 42 per cent, bringing them down to just £219. We're huge fans of these headphones, so if you've been waiting for the right moment to invest in some seriously good noise-cancellers, this is it. Sony's WH-1000XM5 headphones held the top spot in our round-up of the best wireless headphones until they were replaced by the newest edition, and for good reason. The noise-cancellation is best-in-class, effectively silencing the outside world whether you're on a noisy commute or trying to focus in a busy office. They're also lightweight and comfortable, making them perfect for long listening sessions. Most importantly, they sound superb. In our full review, our tester said: 'Whether it's orchestral music, rap, podcasts or your favourite pop tracks, the WH-1000XM5 handle it all with poise and gumption.' Smart features like automatically pausing your music when you start talking add to the seamless experience. At this new low price of £219, you're getting flagship performance and five-star quality for a mid-range cost.
