Angry Kanye West fans chant for refunds at chaotic Shanghai show: ‘Worst concert ever'
Kanye West's fans erupted into an angry chant after the rapper was more than 40 minutes late to his gig for 70,000 in Shanghai. Over the weekend, the disgraced rapper — who goes by Ye — was greeted by loud chants from frustrated concertgoers who demanded refunds, the Global Times reports. In a fan-recorded clip on X, thousands of fans can be heard demanding a refund after the 'Jesus Walks' rapper's live show was marred by tardiness and a slew of technical problems. 'So I've been a fan of Kanye West since I was a teen. MBDTF opened my ears to the sonics in music,' one fan wrote on X, referencing West's 2010 album, 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.' 'Was hard to get tix for him in Shanghai but got it. Was hyped af. Couldn't even sleep night before. But. Worst concert I've ever been to. @kanyewest u can be better.' In a follow-up post, the frustrated concertgoer slammed the rapper's decision to perform live. '@kanyewest you should not tour. It's not for you. Stick to the studio. Drop surprise albums and be that guy. I'm the biggest supporter of (most of) your work. You waste people's time, excitement and money by pretending that you're a performer,' he added. In another series of posts, the fan accused the 24-time Grammy winner of lip syncing. 'Mostly lip synching. His microphone must have been up less than 20 percent of the time,' he wrote on X, before claiming that West left the stage for 20 minutes during the encore. 'For the encore, he disappeared for over 20 minutes at one point as tracks like Wolves just played out with him nowhere in sight,' he wrote on X. 'I could have just played your music at home man. Came to see u perform????' During his brief time onstage, fans claimed that West suffered from a myriad of technical issues, forcing the DJ to restart several songs. After the show — which marked West's first since September 2024 — one concertgoer said they had 'never seen such a poorly organized concert,' adding it was the 'worst concert ever.' On Saturday night, event promoter StellarAmberGroup wrote on China's social media platform, Sina Weibo, that not all visuals could be executed as planned, blaming heavy rainfall for the show's disappointing production. 'However, for this long-awaited return after 17 years, Ye's team insisted on prioritizing artistic integrity. After emergency adjustments, the show was delayed to ensure the best possible experience and to minimize the disappointment for the audience,' the statement said. 'We are deeply moved by the understanding and patience shown by many of the attendees and express our heartfelt gratitude. We also extend our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience caused and appreciate everyone's attention and support.' The rapper's Shanghai show came just days after his former assistant accused him of sexual assault, battery, stalking, sexual battery, sex trafficking, false imprisonment and oral rape in an amended lawsuit. In legal documents obtained by The Post, Lauren Pisciotta — who was West's personal assistant from 2021 through 2022 — claimed that most of the alleged crimes took place on a business trip to San Francisco during her tenure. Pisciotta, an influencer and former OnlyFans model, claimed she turned down alleged advances from West on numerous occasions. In her amended suit, the 36-year-old claimed that West — who has four children with ex-wife Kim Kardashian — kissed her on the mouth and later masturbated while 'forcibly touching' her during a writing session in his hotel room. She further alleged that the 'Stronger' rapper forced himself into her hotel room, asking to use her shower, before orally raping her. She claims he pinned her down, leaving her 'froze[n] in shock and fear.' The 'Runaway' rapper's spokesperson has since fired back at Pisciotta's claims in a statement to Page Six.
