Teens Are Telling Everyone to ‘SDIYBT' on TikTok — & It Means Something Totally Unhinged

Teens love finding new and creative ways to insult people — and for those of us who can barely keep up with anything they're saying, it can get confusing. Especially the newest slang term: 'SDIYBT.' This long acronym is (like most teen slang) silly and a little weird. Brace yourselves, fam, we're about to dive in! The latest trend taking over TikTok comes from none other than SpongeBob SquarePants. SDIYBT stands for, 'Start digging in your butt, twin.' Yes, seriously. More from SheKnows Michelle Obama Is Basically Giving Us All a Master Class in Parenting Gen Z According to Know Your Meme, the catchphrase (along with variations like 'digging in yo butt' and the acronym SDIYBT) went viral after someone posted an edited clip of a scene from the episode 'Welcome to the Chum Bucket.' In the scene, Plankton asked a robot that looks like SpongeBob and has SpongeBob's brain to make him a Krabby Patty. The robot responds, 'Start digging in your butt, twin,' making Plankton mad. The sound went viral on TikTok, with people using the sound to make videos and even covering popular songs and switching out the lyrics to 'start digging in your butt, twin.' This isn't the first time teens have taken old media and made new slang terms from it. Like when they say everything 'rhymes with Grug,' which was taken from the movie The Croods, when Grug tried to rhyme things with his name, but it never actually rhymed. Hence, the meme! Also, teens love using acronyms to make it easier to post on TikTok (and hide from their parents). Like 'SYBAU,' which means 'shut your b—- a—up.' Hey, at least digging in your butt is a little nicer than that! If you still can't quite wrap your head around this term, that's OK. I'm sure they'll move onto something else pretty quickly next week, anyway (especially if all the adults in their lives start saying it).Best of SheKnows These Raw & Beautiful Breastfeeding Photos Show There's No 'Right' Way to Nurse 'But I Hate School': What To Do When Your Teen Dreads Going Back Rugged Meets Romantic in These 'Quiet Western' Names: All the Charm, None of the Grit Solve the daily Crossword

Gen Z Is Bragging About ‘Getting Cracked' on TikTok — & It May Not Mean What You Think

Learning teen slang is always an enlightening experience. Even AI can barely keep up with all the words Gen Z are saying right now! Sometimes, when trying to keep up with what the youths are talking about online, parents can discover things they may not have wanted to know. The latest example: 'getting cracked.' This confusing trend is popping up all over our For Your Page on TikTok, and it may not mean what you think it means. What Is 'Getting Cracked' or 'Got Cracked'? If you see someone dancing and acting happy because they 'got cracked' last night, they aren't talking about drugs, chiropractor appointments, or video games. They mean they had sex — and they are feeling really good about it. More from SheKnows My Generation's Obsession With ChatGPT Is Bigger Than Cheating - It's Changing Who We Are Someone asked on the 'What Does This Mean' subreddit about 'getting cracked,' and the responses were pretty straightforward. 'Successfully laid,' one person said. Another wrote, 'It means she received a respectable romp between the sheets with a partner of her choosing.' In other words, like this person summarized, 'Cracked = sex.' One mom on TikTok asked her teen daughter to explain and shared the results in a video. 'It means getting jiggy with it,' the mom said, per Distractify. 'Maybe I should just not be doing trends that are going around on the interwebs and leave that to the youngins, because obviously I don't know what the f–k anyone's talking about anymore.' Seriously! And if your own kids post about 'getting cracked,' talk about an awkward family dinner conversation! The Video Trend Is Actually Pretty Funny If you can get over seeing your own teens bragging about 'getting cracked,' then the videos trending on TikTok are actually so funny. Take this TikToker, for example. 'Me when I got cracked three times last night which means everyone gon get FULL fries today,' he wrote over a video showing him in the kitchen at McDonald's, dancing and filling fry boxes. Another TikToker, who works at Panda Express, posted, 'Got cracked last night, everybody's getting an extra scoop.' He was smiling and dancing while filling out takeout containers. Someone else posted a video from her car in a Walmart uniform, writing, 'Got cracked so good last night I might just let y'all steal today.' Even adults are getting in on the trend, like this delivery driver who said, 'Got 'cracked' last night everyone's packages will be delivered on time today.' In the caption, he quipped, 'I didn't even know what the term 'cracked' meant until this trend so here we are😂' If you can, just enjoy the trend for the silly, playful thing it is. Why Teens Are Talking About ‘Jet2 Holidays' Right Now

If you have teens in your life — or are just as chronically online as we are! — then you've probably heard, 'Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday!' repeatedly lately. Teens love repeating this phrase on TikTok and IRL, but no, it has nothing to do with promoting the airline company Jet2. Middle school teacher Mr. Lindsay, aka, the guru of all things teen slang, gave his weekly update on what kids are saying right now. Along with, 'I'm a Mommy' and 'Mamacita' from Love Island and Justin Bieber's, 'It's not clocking to you,' Mr. Lindsay quotes, 'Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday, where you can save £50 per person.' More from SheKnows New Research Says Smartphones Contribute to 'Detachment From Reality' in Kids - Yet 81% Have Them What? Why have teens locked in on this ad? It's actually just one of those random things, and the resulting videos are actually pretty funny. According to Know Your Meme, this phrase comes from a YouTube ad for a British airline. The ad, set to 'Hold My Hand' by Jess Glynne, features a British female voice saying the phrase Mr. Lindsay quotes. The sound went viral on TikTok, where teens started sharing videos of chaotic, underwhelming, dangerous, or stupid scenarios set to the sound. So far, 1.6 million videos have been made with this sound on TikTok. This one shows a teen opening the curtains of a hotel room to reveal a tiny window. Like this one, where a kid was hit in the face by a fish or this one, where an elephant grabbed a girl around the mouth. It's silly and funny, and we love it. 'Chances are if you have a social media account and you live in 2025 on planet Earth, you've heard my voice,' the voice actor behind the viral sound, Zoë Lister, said in a TikTok video, adding that she is 'in a permanent state of stupid joy, slight anxiety and overwhelm, and 'What the f— is going on?'' We can only imagine hearing your own voice all over social media and hearing teens repeat it in life too. This is just another silly teen slang trend, like meltmaxxing or 'holy airball.'
