What's at Stake in Trump's Alien Enemies Act Scheme
Barton Swaim misses the mark by giving short shrift to necessary due-process requirements in 'Trump, the Public and the Alien Enemies Act' (op-ed, March 24). The issue isn't whether the Trump administration is being denied the authority to deport violent aliens. It is whether Congress may empower the president to deport violent aliens unilaterally, without presenting evidence even of their noncitizenship. If the answer to that question is yes, then as President Trump likes to say in his hyperbolic way, 'we don't have a country anymore.'
