‘Jurassic World Rebirth' Review: Creativity on the Brink of Extinction
In the second hour of 'Jurassic World Rebirth,' the characters cease their bantering and bickering to simply gawp at a giant titanosaurus grazing in the jungle. A sample of John Williams's lilting score from the original 'Jurassic Park' plays, and the film is momentarily inspired, even majestic.
Yet that scene is essentially mere quotation of a similar episode in the 1993 blockbuster. 'Rebirth' is a quintessential example of Hollywood's guiding imperative, or self-imposed creative handicap, which is to repeat itself to a degree that borders on obsession.
