The Irishman, who is chasing a second senior major title of the season, produced a strong finish with birdies at the 13th, 14th, and 18th holes to pull clear of the field on Saturday.
Justin Leonard, who posted a second straight 65, is two strokes back, while Thomas Bjorn is three shots behind following a round of 67.
