Watch: Worker Steps Out Of Junagadh Factory, Spots A Lion; Both Run Back
A startled lion and a man bolted in opposite directions during an unusual encounter in Junagadh.
A late-night walk outside a cement factory in Gujarat turned into a heart-stopping and oddly funny moment for a worker. A man and a lion were caught on camera startling each other before sprinting away in opposite directions. The clip has since gone viral on social media.
The encounter took place near the gate of Aadhar Cement Factory in Patapur village, Dungarpur, Junagadh district, around 10 pm, as per India Today. The footage shows the man stepping out of the factory premises, unaware that a lion was approaching from the opposite side. The two only noticed each other after turning a corner, with their view blocked by what seemed to be a guard's room.
Startled, the worker ran back inside the premises, while the lion, equally alarmed, bolted towards the nearby forest.
When Both Decide to Run
Factory owner Sagar Kotecha said lions had been sighted in the area several times in recent days. 'Since this is a forest region, it is common for lions to appear late at night or early in the morning. But it is unusual to see one so close at that time of night. The man panicked and ran back, and the lion turned away just as quickly," he told India Today.
Kotecha added that although lions often passed by the factory gate, they never harmed anyone. 'If a lion crosses your path, no matter how common it is here, you cannot help but feel afraid," he added.
The caption to the video, shared by retired IFS officer Susanta Nanda on August 10, read: 'Worker of the cement factory at Junagarh & a free-roaming lion accidentally meet each other. Both panic. You have just witnessed the rare reverse chase."

Internet Finds Humour in the Scare
'Think he never got cautious despite dogs giving those warnings and alarm calls. A lesson for life, probably," a user wrote.
Another commented, 'That's because humans are in their zones."
An individual added, 'We give them more reasons to be afraid of us; no wonder she ran away."
'Both surprised each other," another remarked.
The clip has also sparked discussion on the frequency of human-animal encounters in Gujarat's forest belts, where lions often wander into villages and factory areas.
