Google Doodle Celebrates India's Independence Day
To commemorate India's 79th Independence Day, Google unveiled an inspiring Doodle that blends traditional artistry with modern achievements on Friday, August 15.
Crafted by artists Makarand Narkar and Sonal Vasave of Boomranng Studio, the design draws from India's rich regional crafts, featuring elements like Rajasthan's Jaipur blue pottery and West Bengal's terracotta relief.
The artwork is assembled as six vibrant tiles, each forming one letter of the Google logo. These tiles go beyond aesthetics, celebrating India's milestones in space exploration, cricketing glory, world chess recognition, and cinema achievements. The imagery beautifully depicts the nation's ongoing journey toward growth and innovation.
Traditional celebrations also unfold across India on this special day: flag-hoisting ceremonies, cultural performances, and patriotic displays fill homes and public spaces.
The Doodle's mosaic mirrors the unity in diversity that defines the spirit of the nation and its Independence Day traditions.
This year's Doodle acts as a visual tribute not just to India's heritage, but to its global achievements, sending out a message of pride, hope, and unity as the country marks another year of independence.
