Motorists warned not to flout Spalding pedestrian zone rules
Motorists flouting the rules in a pedestrian zone in Spalding risk being fined once work to install new signs has been completed, a local authority has County Council said final work on the scheme, including the installation of traffic signs and road markings, would start on will be prohibited at any time in Market Place and Hall Place, and there will be changes to parking nearby.A restriction on vehicle access between 10:00 BST and 16:00 BST will be reinstated.
It comes after South Holland District Council held a consultation on enforcing the pedestrianisation that was already in place in the town and county council member Rob Gibson said: "In all honesty, it's felt like this saga has gone on for too long for the people of Spalding and I am delighted that we can finally deliver some action and say that it's nearly complete."Once this last [work is] done, it'll mean that we can enforce penalties on owners of vehicles that park or travel through the pedestrian area between 10 and 4, and that will be in place every day."Outside of those times, businesses and utilities will be able to get in so that they can get deliveries dropped off or carry out maintenance where needed."
