Death of toddler who fell from window 'accidental', says coroner

The death of a toddler who fell from a third-storey building was a "tragic accident", a coroner has ruled. Paddy Davis sustained severe head injuries after falling from the property in Shurdington, near Cheltenham. He died on 19 June at 22:47 BST at Bristol Royal Hospital for before the accident, the two-year-old had been sitting on his mother's bed while she turned away to change her clothes. Coroner Roland Wooderson told the inquest that this was a "tragic accident" and the death would be recorded as accidental. The inquest heard from Dr Omer Aziz, a paediatric intensive care consultant at the hospital, who said Paddy had died from traumatic brain and abdominal injuries. Dr Aziz said Gemma, the toddler's mother, told hospital staff she had brought Paddy home from playing with washed and then Gemma put Paddy on her double bed which was pushed up against the window in her bedroom. The window and bed are the same window was pushed open because it was hot and had a blind pulled over it. Gemma turned her back to put on a t-shirt and, on hearing a sound, looked over to see that the toddler was gone. She looked out the window and realised her son had fallen. Sgt Sophie Royle, from Gloucestershire Police, told the hearing their investigations concluded it was an unsuspicious accidental death.

Country Singer Speaks Out for First Time Since Fatal Accident

Country Singer Speaks Out for First Time Since Fatal Accident originally appeared on Parade. Country singer Conner Smith is speaking out for the first time since his tragic accident last month in which his pickup truck struck and killed 77-year-old Dorothy Dobbins in Nashville. In a statement shared on Instagram on Friday, July 11, Smith, 29, expressed his deep sorrow over the incident. "Four weeks ago, I was involved in a tragic vehicle accident that resulted in the loss of a life," Smith wrote. "Not a day has gone by that I haven't grieved, prayed, and mourned for Ms. Dobbins and her family. My heart is broken in a way I've never experienced, and I still struggle to fully process the weight of it all." Smith, who had been performing in the weeks leading up to the accident, said he made the decision to step away from shows. 'I made the decision to step away from shows these past few weeks. I have always found that making music and playing shows is a place of healing for me - but for this moment, it was important for me to take time away,' the statement read. Fans were quick to comment on the post, letting the 'Creek Will Rise' singer know they're in his corner. 'Love you brother. I'm honored to walk alongside you,' one wrote, while another said, 'Takes a big man to respond the way you have.' A third noted, 'The hardest battles are put on the strongest people. Been praying for everyone involved.' 'You're a good man, Conner,' another stated. 🎬 🎬 Smith's post comes a day after he received a misdemeanor citation from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department in connection with the fatal crash. According to Smith's attorney, the singer has fully cooperated with the investigation. The accident occurred on June 8 when Smith's Chevrolet Silverado struck Dobbins as she was crossing a marked sidewalk. Authorities indicated that Smith's failure to yield was the primary cause of the incident, though there were no signs of impairment at the scene. first appeared on Parade on Jul 12, 2025

Audio of John Elway's 911 call for agent revealed: 'He fell off the golf cart'

The audio of a 911 call John Elway made after his agent's fatal golf cart accident has been released. Elway and his agent, Jeff Sperbeck, were at the Madison Club in La Quinta, California, April 26 when Sperbeck died of injuries in what local authorities ruled a "tragic accident." Elway dialed 911 and told the dispatcher the two were "on a golf cart, and he fell off the golf cart," according to TMZ Sports. Elway said the cart did not crash into anything, and Sperbeck had fallen from "the back." The Hall of Famer added that Sperbeck sustained a head injury. "He fell off the golf cart. He was on the back, and he fell off of the golf cart," Elway said. The operator instructed Elway to check Sperbeck's breathing and to check if his chest was rising. "Do not splint any injuries, and do not move him unless he's in danger," the operator said. The operator said he would give directions on how to "stop the bleeding" and asked him to get a "clean, dry cloth or towel." Elway then said he had a "medic on scene." The operator then instructed Elway to call back if Sperbeck's condition worsened. Elway avoided charges in the incident, and the investigation into the death has been completed. A source told Page Six Elway "is not coping well with the loss and the accident. He has been really upset and withdrawn." Sperbeck's cause of death was "blunt force trauma," and the manner of death was an accident that occurred when the "passenger fell from the golf cart," the county coroner's report said. After Sperbeck's death, Elway released a statement. "I am absolutely devastated and heartbroken by the passing of my close friend, business partner and agent Jeff Sperbeck," Elway said in a statement, via ESPN. "There are no words to truly express the profound sadness I feel with the sudden loss of someone who has meant so much to me. "My heart and deepest sympathies go out to Jeff's wife, Cori; his children, Carly, Sam and Jackson; and everyone who knew and loved him. Jeff will be deeply missed for the loyalty, wisdom, friendship and love he brought into my life and the lives of so many others." Sperbeck had been Elway's agent since 1990. The two collaborated on several business ventures. Follow Fox News Digital's sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.
