Celtic boss speaks on possible reunion with former striker
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has tempered expectations regarding any last-minute additions to his squad ahead of the crucial Champions League play-offs. The Scottish Premiership champions face an 11 pm Tuesday deadline to make up to two amendments to their European squad. Celtic is scheduled to host Kairat Almaty in the first leg of the play-offs on Wednesday. Rodgers indicated he is prepared to proceed with his current roster, stating he trusts his existing players to do the job. He refused to address speculation linking veteran striker Jamie Vardy with a move to Parkhead, despite having worked with him at Leicester.

Liverpool's potential transfers this week include Alexander Isak and Marc Guehi
As the transfer deadline day looms for Liverpool and the rest of the Premier League, there's still a window for deals to be finalized. Anfield has been a hive of activity in recent months, with numerous signings and departures. This summer, Liverpool has welcomed Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Giovanni Leoni, Armin Pecsi, and Freddie Woodman to their ranks, and more additions could be on the horizon. Conversely, Liverpool has bid farewell to Caoimhin Kelleher - who had a tough debut for Brentford on Sunday - Jarell Quansah, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Tyler Morton, and Nat Phillips this summer. Just as with the arrivals, there's a good chance that more players might be shown the exit door. But before the team heads to St. James' Park, there's bound to be plenty of chatter about potential new recruits and possible departures from Anfield. In terms of incoming talent, Alexander Isak and Marc Guehi are names that continue to be associated with a move to Anfield. Regarding Isak, it was reported earlier this month that a second offer from the Reds is unlikely after an initial £110 million ($148.9 million) bid was turned down by Newcastle. Liverpool is reportedly still in discussions with Crystal Palace regarding a potential deal for center-back Guehi, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season. It remains uncertain whether the Reds will be successful in signing both players within the next week. In terms of departures, Ben Doak appears to be on the brink of leaving, with a £25 million ($33.9 million) deal with Bournemouth nearing completion following an agreement reached over the weekend. Kostas Tsimikas, the Greek international, could also potentially exit Liverpool this week. Having been absent from the matchday squad for the last two games, he may be heading for the door, with Kerkez and Andy Robertson as alternative left-back options in the team. Harvey Elliott continues to be linked with a move away from Liverpool, with rumors of a possible deal with RB Leipzig. While chatter about Elliott's departure has quietened recently, it wouldn't be surprising to see speculation about his Merseyside exit resurface in the coming days.

Two more Manchester City players eyed for Girona loan moves alongside Vitor Reis
Vitor Reis could yet be joined by two further Manchester City starlets this summer as Hugo Viana looks to trim Pep Guardiola's squad in time for the new campaign. Pep Guardiola is keen for Manchester City's first-team squad to be trimmed further before the September 1 transfer deadline as the Blues prepare for their 2025-26 Premier League opener against Wolves on Saturday. City have signed Rayan Ait-Nouri, Marcus Bettinelli, Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders, Sverre Nypan and James Trafford this summer, with each of Kevin De Bruyne, Kyle Walker and Scott Carson shown the door in what has been a major squad overhaul. Hugo Viana has replaced long-serving Txiki Begiristain as director of football, with the Manchester City board looking to trim the wage bill and streamline Guardiola's bloated squad after a flurry of new arrivals – to challenge on all fronts after a sub-standard 2024-25 campaign. James McAtee, Jack Grealish and Kalvin Phillips were all left out of Manchester City's travelling squad for their weekend pre-season win over Palermo, with the English trio expected to find new clubs before the transfer deadline. City are also expecting to field offers for Stefan Ortega Moreno, who is set to seek a permanent move away to secure his place as Germany's number one ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after the arrival of James Trafford from Burnley. Central defence was an area where Manchester City were stocked perhaps too well as of last week, with January signing Vitor Reis since completing a season-long loan move to CFG-owned Girona. John Stones is expecting to stay put as he enters the final year of his contract, with Ederson also in line to be allowed to begin the new season as Manchester City's number one amid long-standing interest in the 31-year-old Brazilian from Saudi Arabia. Claudio Echeverri, signed from River Plate in January 2024 and welcomed to Manchester this year, would also benefit from a season-long loan to progress his development, with AS Roma believed to be the 19-year-old's preferred destination despite City's desire to link him with Reis at Girona. According to Mirror Sport's Simon Mullock, Viana is 'progressing' loan deals for Claudio Echeverri and Nypan, with Girona interested in the duo in addition to the recently-signed Reis on a temporary deal. It remains to be seen whether loan deals for either of the pair materialise in the coming weeks as Manchester City face a tricky run of fixtures to begin the new Premier League campaign, coming up against each of Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United in their opening five league games. Elsewhere, Tottenham are in talks with Manchester City over a deal for Savinho, with the 21-year-old winger open to moving to north London, which could see the Blues short of one attacker when the window closes on September 1.

Report – Inter Milan Set Deadline For Signing Of Atalanta & Nigeria Star
Inter Milan are desperate to sign Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman, but they're not willing to wait forever. According to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, the San Siro giants have set the deadline for La Dea to respond. Lookman's arrival seemed like a done deal after the Nerazzurri agreed on personal terms with the player. Indeed, the 27-year-old has accepted a multi-year contract worth around €4 million net per season. However, Atalanta's demands could spoil the party. (Photo by Pier) Inter cannot and will not match La Dea's €50m asking price. They already offered €40m for the Nigerian and won't make any changes to their opening bid. Therefore, the agreement is hanging by a thread. Meanwhile, Ademola Lookman is currently on the sidelines with an injury. However, he should regain full fitness by the end of the month. And Inter are only willing to wait until Lookman's recovery before deciding whether to move on to alternative targets.

'Indecisiveness always costs Arsenal' - fan views on transfer activity
We asked for your views on today's transfer deadline and whether Arsenal need to sign players urgently or would be better off waiting. Here are some of your comments:Rachel: My priority would be to secure players who, above all else, truly want to come to Arsenal. I'm not interested in someone who has to be cajoled and persuaded. Better to wait for the right person than to panic buy and end up with another drain on our Indecisiveness always costs Arsenal each and every transfer window. We need the striker position sorted out rapidly. It has cost us two Premier League titles now. It's very reminiscent of the Arsene Wenger years with promises of decisiveness but delivery of nothing. Sort it out!Martin: I'm not concerned about the first transfer window, that's mainly for the Club World Cup teams. Getting who we need in before the start of the Asian tour is very important; we don't want to leave it too close to the start of the Nico Williams, but I heard he's happy with fewer trophies at Athletic Bilbao. Martin Zubimendi deal needs sorting or move on; strikers and quality backup for current players are a must. Depth cannot be an excuse anymore. Andy: I'd like an early arrival in Zubimendi, but it isn't going to As I said on the live page on Friday, part of me wants Arsenal to at least do some business, the other part is reminding me that the proper window doesn't open for a month. As long as we can get the deals sorted now, I can wait for that month.
