As August ticks along, our minds inevitably flit to transitional outfit ideas. After months of chucking on a sundress or co-ord and saying 'job done', having to navigate layers, knitwear and matching accessories can feel like quite the brainteaser.
The key is investing in a timeless, chic jacket or coat that's easy to throw over any outfit for a touch of warmth. And according to the fashion set, the style to invest in this autumn is unquestionably suede.
The material was all over AW25 runways: from Miu Miu's suede bomber jacket to Tod's maxi soft trench coats. But if there's one label best-known for suede artistry, it's Hermès. Its tailored jackets have long been an A-list staple, worn by everyone from Rosie Huntington Whiteley and Lily-Rose Depp to Sofia Richie and Jennifer Garner, and pretty much epitomise quiet luxury with their faultless cuts and understated hues.
But while Hermès' Short Jacket is very much the suede jacket of our dreams, with a £7,790 price tag, it's not entering our reality any time soon.
